The landscape that greeted us was a vision from hell. Burned houses dotted the countryside like blackened teeth, their skeletal remains

stark against the pale moonlight. The air reeked of smoke and death, and not a single soul moved through the devastated villages.

Jesus Christ. What kind of war is this?

A foreboding chill ran down my spine as we approached Kaius’s territory. This wasn’t just a battleit was systematic destruction. In the

distance, dust clouds rose from the plains opposite the castle, and I knew we’d found the main battlefield.

Scarlett and I bounded up onto a massive boulder in our wolf forms, and the sight that met us made me suck in a sharp breath.

Holy shit.

An enormous coalition of rogue wolves and allied packs was systematically slaughtering the royal army. I could pick out several powertal alphas among the attackersa golden wolf with scars across his muzzle, a massive brown alpha whose claws gleamed with silver, and a rustcolored beast whose eyes burned with ancient hatred. No wonder Kaius was in trouble. This wasn’t some ragtag rebellionthis was a

coordinated military assault.

They’re all using silver weapons. That’s why the royal warriors can’t heal.

In the center of the chaos, I spotted the familiar forms of Kaiusa massive black wolf whose coat was matted with bloodand Frost, his gray form moving with desperate efficiency. But they were trapped, surrounded by layers of enemies. The outer ring consisted of countless rogue wolves, but the real danger came from the inner circle: those powerful alphas who were pressing their attack without mercy, giving

neither wolf a moment to recover.

Watching them struggle against impossible odds sent a surge of fury through my system that caught me completely off guard.

If I hadn’t come, even when my parents arrive, it would be too late. They’d all die, and my family would die trying to save them.

I looked at Scarlett, and we shared a moment of perfect understanding. Without hesitation, she launched herself down the slope, her bluefurred form a blur of lethal grace as she crashed into the outer ring of rogues. Her claws were like steel blades, tearing through

enemies with ruthless efficiency.

The distraction caused several of the innercircle alphas to turn toward the new threat, their attacks on Kaius intensifying with desperate fury. The golden alpha’s claws raked across Kaius’s flank, drawing fresh blood, while the brown beast aimed for his throat.

No.

The word rang through my mind like a bell as I saw another alphathis one coalblack with red eyesprepare to drive his claws through

Kaius’s chest.

I didn’t think. I simply leaped.

The wind caught me midjump, carrying me higher and farther than any normal wolf could manage. For a moment, I hung suspended in

the moonlight, and I saw the exact instant every fighter on the battlefield looked up.

The sight of mepure white against the dark sky, moonlight turning my coat into liquid silverfroze them in place. Even the most battle- hardened alphas stopped midattack, their eyes wide with disbelief.

White wolf. The stuff of legends.

The lowerranking rogues were hit hardest by my presence. Something primal in their wolf minds recognized what I was, and dozens of them simply collapsed, unable to function in the face of such overwhelming supernatural authority.

But I didn’t stop there. As I descended from the sky like some avenging angel, I reached out with abilities I’d barely understood before tonight. Healing energy poured from me in waves, and I watched with savage satisfaction as Kaius’s wounds began closing at visible speed. The silverpoisoned gashes that had been draining his strength sealed themselves, while his warriorspreviously unhealable

injuries started mending.

The enemy alphas snarled with rage as they realized their advantage was disappearing. The golden wolf howled orders, trying to rally his forces for one final push to kill Kaius before my healing could fully restore him.

That’s when I decided to show them exactly what a white wolf could do.
