Chapter 12 Zipping Up Her Dress
Chapter 12 Zipping Up Her Dress
Natasha wanted a divorce.
But she still hadn’t figured out how to make it happen.
She knew the Whittier family would never agree to it.
As for Percy, unless Joelle was willing to marry him right after the divorce, there was no way he’d get Joelle.
Once the divorce was done, he wouldn’t even have the brother-in-law card to play anymore. How else could he get close to the woman he was after?
So, with Percy refusing to agree to a divorce and the Whittier family refusing to back her up, Natasha was on her own.
She had a tough road ahead of her.
This wasn’t something she could fix overnight. She’d have to come up with her own plan to get out.
Natasha was sitting in her office, feeling troubled, when the intercom suddenly buzzed.
Jared’s cold, commanding voice came through. “Come here.”
Natasha pulled herself together and walked over to the CEO’s office next door in her heels.
She knocked on the door.
“Come in!” Jared called out.
Natasha took a deep breath at the doorway, then pushed the door open and stepped inside.
“Mr. Rundell, you wanted to see me?” she asked.
Jared was sitting behind his desk, buried in paperwork, not even bothering to look up.
He just ordered, “Put on the dress that’s on the couch.”
Natasha finally noticed a gift bag sitting on the sofa.
She walked over, puzzled, and peeked inside-turned out, it was a formal gown.
“Mr. Rundell, what’s this for?” she asked, still confused as she looked at him again!
Jared looked up from his paperwork, fixing his gaze on her.
His cold, authoritative vibe instantly washed over Natasha, making her feel seriously intimidated.
“There’s a dinner tonight. You’re coming with me,” he said.
“What?” Natasha exclaimed, her face full of surprise.
“Why the surprise?” Jared replied impatiently.
His tone left no room for argument. “It’s your job to accompany your boss to business dinners.”
Natasha just hadn’t expected Jared to invite her to join him for dinner tonight.
After all, Leigh was the senior secretary and had been by his side for years.
She always assumed he’d choose Leigh first for these kinds of business events.
But since Jared himself had singled her out, Natasha knew she couldn’t refuse.
She picked up the gift bag from the sofa. “I’ll go change in my office.”
Jared stopped her. “Go use my private lounge.”
Natasha froze, caught off guard again.
‘Seriously? He’s letting me use his private lounge?’ she thought, surprised.
Jared snapped, “What are you waiting for? Go.”
Natasha hurried into the lounge.
As soon as she stepped inside, she couldn’t help but think back to that time she lost it.
And Jared had walked in on her right in the middle of it.
His boxers were still sitting in her drawer.
Natasha honestly had no idea how she was supposed to give it back to him.
‘Honestly, it’d be best if he just forgot about it, she thought.

But ever since then, she took her meds religiously every morning before work.
She dreaded having another episode and going through that mess all over again.
Natasha took off her work outfit, grabbed the gown from the gift bag, and changed into it.
The deep green dress set off her pale skin beautifully, and it fit her like a glove.
But the zipper was in the back.
She tried to pull it up, but it got stuck halfway.
Natasha struggled with it for a while, but no matter what she did, it wouldn’t budge.
She didn’t dare pull too hard-the zipper was so thin, she was worried it might break.
This was clearly a high-end designer dress, probably worth a small fortune. If she ruined it, there was no way she could pay
for it.
With her back left wide open, Natasha hesitated, debating whether she should ask Leigh for help.
Just then, the lounge door was pushed open.
“Why is it taking so long?” Jared asked.
He’d been waiting outside for a while, only entering when he assumed she’d finished changing.
But as soon as he stepped in, he caught sight of a large expanse of Natasha’s bare back.
She was covering her chest, turning around in a panic to look at him, her eyes wide with shock.
“M-Mr. Rundell? Why are you in here?” Natasha stammered, panic in her voice.
Jared looked her up and down, eyes narrowed.
The strappy dress Natasha wore barely covered her, showing off her sexy collarbone and creamy skin, her cheeks burning red.
In that instant, a rush of heat hit him in his gut.
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he closed the lounge door and strode toward her.
“Can’t get the zipper up?” he asked.
His voice was unusually husky, and his intense, deep eyes locked onto her.
Natasha just stared at him, frozen, as he walked toward her.
Her heart was pounding so hard she almost forgot how to react.
It wasn’t until his long fingers reached for her slender back that she snapped out of it.
His slightly cool, textured fingers glided over her skin, smooth as milk.
Natasha quivered from head to toe.
She instinctively turned to look at the man behind her.
Jared’s gaze met hers at that exact moment.
His deep eyes were like swirling whirlpools, effortlessly drawing her in.
“M-Mr. Rundell…” Natasha stammered, her voice trembling.
Her slender fingers shook as she clutched her chest in panic.
Jared lowered his gaze, catching a tantalizing glimpse of her alluring curves.
With every rapid breath, her chest rose and fell, making the moment even more mesmerizing.
Natasha’s mind went totally blank.
For a split second, she had no idea what to do.
Jared’s large, cool hand settled on her slender shoulder, his lips close to her ear as he whispered, “Don’t overthink it. I’m just helping you with the zipper.”
But even as he said that, his breath was unexpectedly hot, pouring into her sensitive ear and making it burn.
A tingling sensation silently spread through her body.
‘God, this is killing me!’ Natasha thought desperately. ‘Can he just give me some space?
‘He knew all about my issues-I was always craving a guy, thanks to that condition.
‘With him this close, how am I supposed to handle it?

‘What if I lose control and start wanting him again?”
Natasha’s heart was racing with anxiety.
She edged sideways, trying not to draw any attention to herself.
