Chapter 132 Driven Mad by Jealousy

Chapter 132 Driven Mad by Jealousy

At the police station, Natasha had just finished the paperwork to bail Percy out.

When she stepped out with Percy, she ran into Jared.

He was stepping out of a sleek Rolls-Royce, dressed in a tailored suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and long legs. He carried an intimidating aura.

Most of his handsome face was hidden in shadow, making his expression unreadable.

But Natasha felt his deep, razor-sharp gaze fixed on her.

Since she happened to bump into him, she couldn’t very well pretend not to have seen him.

After all, Jared was still her boss, and she’d be seeing him around at work, whether she liked it or not.

“Mr. Rundell,” Natasha greeted him politely.

Jared paused, his deep gaze sweeping over Percy, who stood beside Natasha.

“Here to bail out your husband?” he asked, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips.

Natasha’s expression stiffened slightly, assuming Jared was only saying this because his childhood friend Nicolas had been beaten up.

She forced herself to say, “Please tell Nicolas we’re sorry.”

After all, Percy was the one who threw the first punch tonight.

He was in the wrong.

If Nicolas hadn’t decided to let it slide and not make a big deal out of it, Percy would’ve been locked up for a few days.

If Nicolas had hired a lawyer and pressed charges, Percy wouldn’t have gotten out so soon.

When she was bailing Percy out, Natasha had planned to thank Nicolas in person and apologize for what had happened.

But the police told her Nicolas was hurt and getting his wounds treated inside.

Natasha wanted to wait for him to come out, but Percy pulled her away before she had the chance.

Since she couldn’t see Nicolas, she figured asking Jared to pass on their apologies was the next best thing.

But to her surprise, Jared refused bluntly, showing no regard for her feelings. “Why should I help you?” he demanded.

Jared’s face was gloomy, his expression cold and indifferent.

Seeing Natasha with Percy at the police station had him seething inside.

This was the first time he’d ever seen her together with her real husband.

The scene seemed to remind him that he was just a secret lover. And one who hadn’t managed to secure his position at

that.

And then Natasha even referred to herself and Percy as “we” in front of him, asking him to pass on Percy’s apology to Nicolas.

Jared’s chest burned with jealousy, ready to burst.

Jealousy was starting to crack his usually unflappable facade.

Natasha’s lashes fluttered.

She couldn’t help but feel awkward.

She never expected Jared to turn so heartless out of nowhere.

Staring at his sharp, icy face, Natasha’s gorgeous eyes suddenly brimmed with bewilderment and unease.

Jared pressed his lips together, his impatience showing as he frowned.

Natasha picked up on his mood and quickly said, “Well… then I won’t bother you…”

With that, she left with Percy, not wanting to linger and be in the way.

Jared watched Natasha’s figure as she walked away, his gaze so dark and intense it seemed bottomless like midnight.

Somehow, without anyone noticing, a gentle drizzle had started falling from the sky.

The rain, carried by the chilly night breeze, landed on Natasha’s skin.

She couldn’t help but shiver and quickened her pace toward her car.

She didn’t pay Percy any mind anymore, just left him standing there.

She’d already done all she could. Getting him out of the station was more than enough.

This was the last time she’d play the dutiful wife for him.

Tomorrow, they’d head to City Hall and pick up their divorce papers.

After that, all this mess would have nothing to do with her anymore.

Percy hurried after her, his voice low and worried. “Don’t let anyone else know what happened tonight.”

Natasha let out a cold snort. “You really think you can hide the fact that you hit Nicolas?”

‘Nicolas isn’t just some random guy,’ Natasha thought. ‘He’s the crown prince of the Milford family, the top-tier elite.

‘All the rich kids in high society give him a wide berth. But Percy? He actually punched Nicolas because of Joelle.

‘And when I tried to get him to apologize, he just yanked me away.

‘Did he even realize that if this got back to his father, he could kiss the heir position he’s been desperately hoping for goodbye, forever?

‘And if the Whittier family found out, they’d never let him near Joelle again.

Natasha had always seen Percy as someone who could hide his true feelings and endure anything, a man built for big things.

But she never expected that, when it came to his beloved Joelle, he would crack and lose his cool like this.

Percy’s face was grim. “Even if it’s impossible to keep this quiet, we still have to try. Just don’t let me catch you telling anyone about it.”

He made it clear that she wasn’t to go around telling people. If the truth eventually came out anyway, he would face it.

Natasha snorted and replied crisply, “Got it.”

She wasn’t about to embarrass herself by gossiping about this mess.

Anyway, after tomorrow, she and Percy would have nothing to do with each other.

She couldn’t care less about his business anymore.

The only reason she came to the station tonight was that she was worried Percy might actually get locked up for hitting Nicolas.

If Percy really got locked up, there was no way they’d be able to get divorced tomorrow.

Natasha fished out her keys, unlocked her car, and made a beeline straight for it.

She had just gotten in when she saw Percy making his way over to the passenger seat.

He reached for the handle, ready to climb in.

But Natasha was faster. She slammed the lock, shutting him out before he could get in.

Percy tugged at the handle a few times, but the door wouldn’t budge.

He shot Natasha a confused glare. “You’re not going to drive me home?”

Natasha shot back coldly, “Sorry, that’s not my job.”

Percy’s handsome face froze for a moment, caught off guard.

He’d thought that Natasha coming all the way to the police station for him at this hour, handling his bail and everything. meant she still cared, even if just a little bit.

Yet now, she was colder than the winter frost.

Natasha caught the surprise on his face, but she didn’t bother explaining herself.

She just started the car and said, “I’m leaving now. Make sure the paperwork’s ready. I’ll meet you at City Hall tomorrow.”

With that, she hit the gas and drove off without a second thought.

Percy stood in the rain, bewildered, watching her car fade into the darkness.

He couldn’t explain it, but a sudden, uneasy panic crept into his chest.
