Chapter 135 Divorce
Chapter 135 Divorce
Natasha didn’t have time to waste on him any longer.
if she wanted to finalize the divorce at City Hall today, she had to settle things with Jared first.
Steeling herself, Natasha wrapped her arms around Jared’s neck.
She pressed her lips toward his and kissed his burning lips.
She did it to show him she wasn’t lying to him, and she’d be there tonight.
The moment their lips touched, Jared felt like he’d been struck by lightning.
His whole body trembled uncontrollably.
Ecstasy flooded his heart, so intense it nearly overwhelmed him.
His eyes grew even darker, so deep they seemed endless.
Just as Jared was about to deepen the kiss, he felt Natasha suddenly pull away.
She didn’t go for a passionate kiss.
Instead, she just softly pressed her lips to his, giving him a gentle, fleeting peck.
She worried that if she kissed him any deeper, Jared might not be able to handle it.
‘If Jared lost control and things got out of hand right here in the office, there’s no way I could make it to City Hall today, Natasha thought to herself.
She didn’t want to stand Percy up again.
Now that he’d already redrafted the confidentiality agreement, the sooner they ended this marriage, the better.
Natasha pulled away from Jared’s lips, her gaze lingering on his chiseled, striking features.
His intense eyes locked onto hers, unwavering.
Their gazes collided, and for a moment, the air between them crackled with tension.
Natasha turned her face away, about to leave.
Suddenly, Jared wrapped his arm around her slim waist, pulling her whole body flush against his.
“I’ll be waiting for you tonight,” he murmured, his voice low and husky right by her lips.
“Okay,” Natasha nodded, feigning shyness.
Jared finally loosened his grip.
The moment Natasha was free, she darted out the door.
She ran as if her life depended on it.
Jared felt his arms suddenly empty, like he’d just lost something important.
He felt an inexplicable sense of loss.
But then he remembered Natasha had promised she’d come over tonight, and the thought sent a surge of excitement through him.
His emotions were all over the place because of Natasha.

At the entrance of City Hall, by the time Natasha arrived, Percy had already been waiting for over twenty minutes.
He was dressed in a black coat and pants, a cigarette dangling from his fingers, his hair tousled by the wind.
His whole face looked cold and grim.
He was just about ready to call her and demand an explanation,
“Sorry, I got stuck in traffic,” Natasha said, hurrying over and apologizing as soon as she saw him.
Percy’s expression was cold and gloomy.
“I thought you were going to back out again. Don’t tell me you’re having second thoughts about the divorce,” he said, stubbing out his cigarette, unable to hide the sarcasm in his voice.
Natasha shot him a mocking smile. “How could I? I never regretted divorcing you!”
Percy’s face froze for a second.

Something dark flashed in his eyes, gone in an instant.
“Alright then, let’s go inside,” Percy said.
He hid the darkness in his eyes and turned to go inside.
“Wait!” Natasha called out suddenly. “Did you sign that confidentiality agreement already?”
Even though he’d sent her the agreement to review, it didn’t count for anything until he actually put his name on it.
‘Who knows if he’s just trying to trick me into divorcing him, only to turn around and screw me over later? Natasha thought, her guard up.
Percy looked pissed.
“What, you think I’m gonna back out?” he snapped, his tone cold.
Natasha stared him down, her face blank. “Let’s sign the agreement first, then go finalize the divorce. It’s just fair for both sides.”
Percy fixed her with a cold, shadowed stare.
After a moment, he finally took out the agreement.
He signed it right there, in front of Natasha, then tossed it to her.
He tossed it over with such force that the paper ended up ripped along the edge.
Natasha took the agreement and carefully looked it over one last time.
Then she signed her name.
“Are we done here?” Percy.snapped, his impatience obvious.
Natasha stayed expressionless.
She was cold as ice, showing neither joy nor sorrow.
She nodded and said, “Let’s go inside.”
With that, she strode in, her high heels clicking sharply on the floor.
As she passed Percy, he caught a faint whiff of her scent, and for a moment, he felt dazed.
All those moments they’d shared as husband and wife over the past year suddenly played out in Percy’s mind like a movie, every touch, every glance, painfully vivid.
He gave a short, bitter laugh, then strode in after her.
Since they had settled everything and agreed to divorce by mutual consent, things went smoothly.
The process was quick and straightforward.
When they finally walked out of City Hall, each of them was clutching their own divorce certificate.
Natasha was finally free.
She felt a wave of relief wash over her.
Even though the sun was setting outside, nothing could dim the sunshine she felt inside.
‘From this moment on, it’s a whole new life for me,’ Natasha thought.
She took a deep breath and headed toward her car.
Percy watched her walk away without a backward glance, not even bothering to say goodbye. He couldn’t help but frown. ‘Why does it feel like she’s actually happy about divorcing me?’ Percy thought, a bitter feeling rising in his chest. ‘Was she really so eager to get away from me?’
“Natasha!” Percy suddenly called out in a low voice, feeling a wave of irritation stir inside him.
Natasha paused and turned to look at him.
“Is there something else?” she asked, her voice flat.
Percy directly commanded, “This weekend, you’re coming with me to the Grosso family dinner.”
Natasha frowned, her brows knitting together.
Her gut reaction was a hard no.
‘I finally managed to divorce him and was just about to start my happy single life, yet he actually wants me to resume my role as his wife?’ Natasha thought, feeling extremely reluctant.

But then she remembered the confidentiality agreement they’d signed before the divorce.
For the next year, she had to keep up appearances with Percy and keep their divorce a secret from everyone
She had no choice but to go along with it.
“Alright,” Natasha said quietly, her tone resigned.
She met his eyes and made her own request. “Do me a favor and pack up your stuff. Move it out as soon as you can
Given their divorce agreement, the place they’d shared was officially hers now.
