Chapter 14 Scared to Get Intimate
Chapter 14 Scared to Get Intimate
‘Hand-wash his underwear?’ Natasha felt a vein throb at her temple. ‘The nerve of him to even suggest it.’
“Alright, I got it,” she said.
Under Jared’s intimidating stare, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and agree.
Then, feeling awkward, she bolted into the apartment complex.
Jared watched her go, her cheeks flushed, and couldn’t help but feel a rush of heat stir deep in his gut.

Natasha got home.
She didn’t even care if Percy was back or not.
She went straight to her room, grabbed some clean clothes, and headed for a shower, planning to crash as soon as she was done.
Back when she didn’t know what Percy really felt, she used to hold onto some fantasies.
But now, all those illusions had been crushed.
‘A woman really ought to take care of herself, Natasha thought.
After her shower, Natasha suddenly heard a loud thud from outside her room, like something heavy had hit the floor.
She jumped, hurried to open the door, and went out to see what had happened.
There was Percy, drunk out of his mind, stumbling in.
He’d just crashed into the corner of the coffee table and was now lying there in a mess on the floor.
Percy almost never acted out of character like this.
He was always meticulous and self-disciplined.
It probably had to do with that call from Joelle earlier tonight.
The last time he and Joelle were caught making out at a bar, the whole thing got blasted all over social media, and Roxanne had to spend a small fortune to sweep it under the rug.
With her wedding to the Milford heir just around the corner, Joelle had no intention of dealing with him anymore.
Percy, rejected by the woman he loved, turned to the bottle to numb the pain.
Even from a few feet away, Natasha could already smell the strong alcohol coming off Percy.
“Are you alright?” Natasha asked, approaching him.
After all, they were still married on paper. If Percy ended up seriously hurt, she’d be legally responsible.
Percy just lay there on the floor, silent.
His white shirt was stained with dried wine, the spots now a dark, rusty red.
Natasha pursed her lips, at a loss for words.
‘He really went and got himself into this mess over Joelle?
‘What can I say?’ Natasha thought.
If she said he was cold, he still couldn’t let go of Joelle-even with her wedding just around the corner.
If she said he was loving, he’d never treated Natasha like his wife, not once in over a year of marriage.
‘Guess it all comes down to whether you’re the one in his heart; Natasha thought.
She just couldn’t take it-seeing Percy acting like his whole world was ending because of Joelle.
She turned to leave, but Percy reached out and caught her hand from behind.
“Don’t go… You can’t leave… Say what you really mean…” he kept mumbling the same words, eyes shut tight.
Natasha felt all her composure slip away.
‘Is he really just using me as a stand-in for Joelle?’ she thought.
“What exactly do you want me to say?” Natasha shot back, her voice icy.
Successfully unlocked!
After all, she and Joelle were full-blooded sisters, and their voices had that unmistakable family resemblance.
And with Percy so drunk tonight, he couldn’t tell one from the other anymore.

Chapter 14 Scared to Get Intimate
In his drunken haze, it felt like Joelle was right there with him again.
He suddenly yanked her into his arms, rolling over to pin her beneath him in a rush of excitement.
Joelle, who do you really love? Have you ever loved me?” he blurted out, his voice thick with desperation.
His boozy breath hit her full force, hot and heavy.
Natasha couldn’t help but frown.
‘How am I supposed to know if Joelle ever loved him?’ she thought.
‘If he wants answers, he should be asking Joelle-not dragging me into this.’
“Open your eyes and see who I am-” Natasha snapped, but before she could finish, she was cut off.
Percy’s lips were already pressed against hers, silencing her mid-sentence.
When Percy woke up, it was already the next day.
His head was throbbing painfully from the hangover..
“Ugh…” He rubbed his forehead, trying to ease the pain.
When he looked up, he saw Natasha sitting on the windowsill, fixing him with a piercing stare.
She was wearing a silk nightgown, her long, graceful legs elegantly crossed and resting on the carpet.
‘Holy crap!’ Percy thought, totally freaked out by the scene.
He shot up from under the covers in a flash.
But that just made things even more awkward.
He suddenly realized he was completely shirtless-wearing nothing but his underwear.
“Did we… last night?” Percy stammered, glancing nervously at Natasha, his voice shaky with disbelief.
“Last night? What do you mean?” Natasha shot back.
She was still sitting on the windowsill, staring at him without blinking..
Percy had no idea how to even bring it up.
He just covered his face with his hands, rubbing it over and over in frustration, his whole expression twisted up, but he just couldn’t stop.
Natasha felt nothing but icy emptiness inside-her heart was completely numb.
She’d purposely put on that silk nightgown and walked into his room, just to test if he cared about her at all.
But, just as she’d expected, Percy left her utterly disappointed.
They were married, so hooking up would’ve been totally normal.
But he was freaking out, totally clueless about what to do next.
Just watching how he acted after waking up, Natasha knew she wasn’t even on his mind.
He didn’t want anything to do with her-not even in bed.
“Don’t worry, absolutely nothing happened between us last night,” Natasha said, her voice icy.
She gave him a cold look before finally speaking up.
!Percy looked at her, totally stunned, like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“You were so drunk last night you fell on the floor. I tried to help you back to your room, but you ended up puking all over me-got us both covered in it. So I had to get you out of those filthy clothes…” Natasha explained, sounding completely indifferent.
After Natasha finished explaining, Percy finally relaxed, letting out a relieved breath.
‘Phew… thank goodness…’ he thought, relief washing over him.
He instinctively reached up and wiped away the cold sweat that had just broken out on his forehead.
Natasha snorted, her contempt for him growing even stronger.
‘Seriously? Percy’s actually terrified of getting close to me.
‘He can’t even handle a drunken hookup? What a joke!
‘He’s just scared he won’t be able to face Joelle if we ever hooked up.
