Chapter 149 Jealous of Her Ex-Husband
Chapter 149 Jealous of Her Ex-Husband
Natasha’s heart fluttered.
She wasn’t some naive girl, so she knew exactly what it meant when Jared suddenly invited her to his house.
‘It can’t possibly be just about giving me medicine for my hysteria, she thought.
“I need two days to rest,” Natasha said, her voice tinged with fatigue.
They’d gone at it three times yesterday. She was almost wrung dry.
If they kept going tomorrow night, there was no way she’d survive it.
Natasha slammed the car door in a huff and walked away without even glancing back.
When she got home, fresh out of the shower, her phone buzzed with a message from Percy. [I’ll pick you up after work tomorrow.]
Natasha froze for a second.
She almost thought she was seeing things.
‘Percy actually volunteered to pick me up after work?’ Natasha wondered, completely thrown off.
After all, during their entire year of marriage, Percy had never once picked Natasha up from work as her husband.
‘Now that we’re divorced, he’s suddenly willing to do it as my ex-husband? Isn’t that strange?’ Natasha thought to herself.
She replied instantly, [No need!]
Now that the divorce was final, she had long stopped caring.
She was about to shut her phone off and crash for the night when Percy sent another message almost immediately. [There’ s a Grosso family dinner tomorrow. Come back with me.]
Natasha had totally forgotten about that.
She replied, [Just let me know the time, and we’ll meet at the gates of the Grosso mansion.]
She still didn’t want to get in his car or make him go out of his way to pick her up.
Her message was met with radio silence.
Percy didn’t reply.
Natasha assumed he got the point, so she turned off her phone and went to sleep.
But the next day, right before Natasha got off work, she received another message from Percy. [I’m waiting for you outside your office.]
Natasha was taken aback.
‘Didn’t I tell him last night not to come pick me up?’ she wondered. ‘Why did he still show up?’
But now that Percy was already here, Natasha couldn’t really turn him away.
‘Fine, I’ll just go with him, she thought. ‘It’s his family’s place anyway!’
What Natasha hadn’t expected was that just as she stepped out of the employee elevator, the executive elevator beside it opened.
A few figures in sharp suits emerged.
Leading the group was a man with handsome features, tall and imposing.
He radiated a commanding, aristocratic aura.
And it was none other than Jared.
The moment he appeared, all eyes were on him.
Everyone in the lobby froze as soon as they saw him.
They greeted him respectfully, “Mr. Rundell!”
Jared merely nodded, cool and aloof.
But his intense gaze locked onto Natasha from afar.
He recognized her instantly.

Natasha could only follow everyone else’s lead and greet him politely, “Mr. Rundell.”
Her icy, aloof attitude made Jared visibly annoyed.
He kept his eyes locked on her, watching her leave the lobby, go down the steps, and vanish out of sight.
Jared narrowed his eyes and strode after her.
The executives trailing behind him were left confused.
Derek could read Jared like a book.
Ever since they got back from Oakna Isle, Derek was sure things between Jared and Natasha were definitely not simple.
He signaled for the other executives to head out first, then followed after Jared.
Jared didn’t go down the steps.
Instead, he stood there, gazing toward the main entrance of the company from a distance.
Natasha was standing there with a Maybach parked in front of her.
She seemed to be talking to the owner of the Maybach, but it wasn’t clear what they were discussing.
Then, she slid into the passenger seat.
Jared’s face fell, his handsome features twisting with displeasure.
His gaze grew shadowed.
‘It turns out that the reason she refused me last night wasn’t really because she needed to rest, but because she had a date with another man! Jared thought, jealousy flaring up inside him.
“Wait, isn’t that Mr. Percy Grosso? Wasn’t he Natasha’s husband?” Derek blurted out.
He had always had sharp eyes and instantly recognized Percy driving the Maybach.
Jared’s expression darkened even more.
He turned and shot Derek a sharp glare.
But Derek, oblivious as ever, kept gossiping, “Percy isn’t a regular sight around here. Is he here to pick Natasha up after work? Guess their marriage is still going strong…”
As soon as he said that, he clearly felt the surrounding air pressure drop a notch.
Jared pressed his lips together, his tone sharp and full of warning. “Got a lot of free time, huh? There’s a new factory in Kironia that needs a manager. I think you’d be perfect for the job.”
That was when Derek finally realized he’d put his foot in his mouth.
‘Damn it!’ Derek cursed inwardly. ‘How could I forget how complicated things are between Mr. Rundell and Natasha?” He quickly backtracked, “I’m not idle, not at all. I’ll go get the car right now.”
On the other side, as soon as Natasha saw Percy, she said, “Didn’t I tell you not to come? We already agreed to meet at the gates of the Grosso mansion.”
‘Now that we’re divorced,’ she thought, ‘he doesn’t have the obligation to pick me up. And I don’t want to ride in his car either.
‘Since it’s just acting, performing solely at the Grosso mansion will be enough. It’s not like I’m not cooperating.’
Percy offered no further explanation.
A shadow flickered in his eyes.
His voice was low and commanding, leaving no room for argument. “Get in the car.”
Natasha knew he wasn’t about to explain himself, and she had no intention of talking to him any further.
She decided to play her part and finish the charade.
Without another word, she opened the car door and got in.
Half an hour later, the Maybach pulled into the sprawling Grosso mansion.
As soon as the car stopped, Percy’s phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID, then turned to Natasha. “Just work stuff.”
Natasha ignored him completely.
