Chapter 152 He Could Only Stay Hidden

Chapter 152 He Could Only Stay Hidden

Natasha stood there, completely stunned.

‘How did Mom know I was living here?’ she wondered.

She thought she must be hearing things.

But Sandra’s voice came again. “Nat, are you in there?”

‘That’s definitely Mom, Natasha thought, her heart skipping a beat.

She snapped back to reality.

Seeing Jared still pressed against her, Natasha instantly freaked out.

‘Crap, oh, crap! I’m doomed!’ she thought.

Her mother still didn’t know she and Percy were already divorced.

If her mother were to walk in and find a man in her house at this late hour, with her pinned beneath him, Natasha would never be able to explain it.

If the divorce with Percy came to light, her mother would definitely blame her for everything. Natasha definitely didn’t want to get blamed for whatever mess Percy and Joelle had caused.

She whispered urgently to Jared, “Go hide in my room and stay put. Don’t you dare come out!”

‘Hide?’ Jared echoed in his mind, his brows instinctively knitting together. ‘So that’s all I am to her, someone she has to keep out of sight?’

Outside, Sandra still hadn’t gotten a response, so she knocked again. “Nat? Are you in there?”

Natasha shouted back, a bit too loudly, “I’m here! Hold on a sec!”

She hurriedly pushed Jared toward the bedroom. “Go hide in my room, quick!”

Jared raised an eyebrow. “You’re not even going to introduce me?”

Natasha stared at him, baffled. “Introduce you? To whom?”

Jared locked eyes with her, his tone serious. “To your mom?”

Natasha’s forehead vein popped. “Are you seriously joking right now?”

‘If Mom catches me hiding a guy in my place this late, Natasha thought, ‘she’ll totally think I’m cheating on my husband and ruining the marriage between the Whittier and Grosso families.

‘They were the ones who stabbed me in the back first. No way I’m going to let them pin it all on me.’

Jared saw that Natasha had absolutely no intention of introducing him to her mom, and his heart sank.

He felt a sudden, inexplicable frustration welling up inside.

‘Am I really someone she can’t even acknowledge in front of her family?’ he wondered.

“Do I look like I’m joking?” he said, his tone serious.

Natasha locked eyes with him, her heart racing.

She could see the unwavering resolve in his gaze. He definitely wasn’t joking.

‘But as far as my mother knows, I’m still married. How am I supposed to introduce him to her? I could say he’s my boss, but what boss shows up at an employee’s house late at night?’ Natasha thought, feeling even more flustered.

“Next time, maybe,” Natasha said, dodging the issue.

‘Tonight’s definitely not the time, she thought.

Jared’s face turned grim, his handsome features shadowed with frustration.

His eyes grew even darker, filled with a gloom he couldn’t shake.

‘I knew it! I’m just the guy she has to keep out of sight, the side guy. Oh, being the other man really sucks; he muttered to himself, feeling the sting of it.

Natasha noticed Jared had gone quiet for a while, and he seemed a bit upset.

She instantly panicked.

She reached out and tugged at his arm, pleading, “Please, go hide in my room, I’m begging you.”

Jared was fuming inside, absolutely not in the mood to cooperate.

But when he caught the flicker of pleading and panic in Natasha’s eyes, his heart gave a sharp twinge, and he instantly dropped the matter.

Jared slipped into her bedroom.

Natasha quickly closed the door behind him, finally able to breathe a little easier.

She wiped the anxious sweat from her forehead.

Then she swapped into a fresh nightgown.

Finally, she walked over and opened the door.

“What took you so long?” Sandra snapped as soon as she saw Natasha.

Natasha quickly apologized, “Sorry, Mom. I was already in bed, so I was a bit slow getting up.”

Sandra glanced at Natasha’s nightgown and didn’t bother to argue.

“Forget it, let’s go inside and talk,” she said.

Natasha shut the door and walked in with Sandra.

Sandra narrowed her eyes, looking around and clearly judging everything.

“Did you and Percy get into a fight? Is that why you moved here?” she couldn’t help but ask, suspicion in her voice.

Natasha couldn’t let Sandra find out about the divorce yet, so she had no choice but to go along with her suspicion.

“Yeah,” she admitted.

Sandra couldn’t help but lecture her, “Now that you’re married, you need to listen to your husband and stop throwing tantrums like a kid!

“I heard Brent is in poor health, so everything in the Grosso family will end up being Percy’s sooner or later. Honestly, you really lucked out marrying him…”

Natasha frowned, her brows drawing tight.

Every word Sandra said made it sound like Natasha had totally lucked out, as if marrying Percy was the best thing that ever happened to her.

Sandra didn’t care at all about why her daughter was actually living apart from her husband,” not even a little.

In her eyes, it was always Natasha’s fault.

‘All Mom cares about is making sure I keep accommodating her precious son-in-law, Natasha thought.

“Mom, how did you even know I moved here?” Natasha cut her off, asking.

‘Even Percy has no clue where I’m living after the divorce. How did Mom find out?’ Natasha wondered.

“I… I heard it from your dad,” Sandra replied, her gaze flickering, clearly evasive.

Natasha’s surprise deepened. “Dad?”

After all, Bernard was even more indifferent to Natasha than anyone else.

So how could he possibly know where she lived now?

Sandra looked troubled. “Actually, your dad asked me to come find you tonight…”

Natasha’s heart tightened in her chest.

Hearing that, it all clicked for Natasha. She finally understood her mother’s real reason for showing up tonight.

‘Dad must have told Mom to come and talk to me because I didn’t agree with him last time. He wants me to spy on Jared for Harley, Natasha realized.

“Mom, don’t even bother. There’s no way I’m saying yes, Natasha said, cutting Sandra off before she could get another word out.

Jared was still in her bedroom, just a few steps away.

If Sandra mentioned anyone from the Rundell family, whether Harley or Jared, it would arouse Jared’s vigilance.

Even if Natasha had no intention of agreeing, it would still make Jared misunderstand.

It might even cost Natasha her job.

“Why not?” Sandra frowned, clearly confused. “Your dad barely ever gives you the time of day, and now he finally threw you
