Chapter 170 Planning Something in the Office?
Natasha’s pretty face turned a shade colder. ‘Why does he keep bringing up Percy?’ Natasha wondered.
Little did he know, Percy was no longer her husband; he was her ex. “That’s none of your business,” she replied coldly, avoiding his probing gaze.
His question was way too personal. He was just her friend with benefits; she didn’t owe him any answers.
The tension in the room spiked. Jared tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her flush against him.
“Not in the mood to talk? Not hungry either? Then how about we get busy?” Jared suggested.
Natasha’s nerves were on edge. ‘Get busy?’ she thought, her heart skipping a beat.
She knew it; he definitely had ulterior motives for calling her to his office. “Just a reminder, this is your office,” Natasha couldn’t help but warn him, her tone tense.
Jared closed the distance, invading her personal space. His warm, masculine breath caressed her cheek and whispered past her ear.
“Who says we can’t do it here?” he teased, his voice husky and full of intent.
Natasha’s lips curled in discomfort. ‘Is he really thinking about getting it on with me right here in his office?’ Natasha thought, her heart pounding.
She instinctively turned away, wanting to refuse him. But her soft lips accidentally brushed against his, cool and unexpectedly gentle.
Cool and soft. A tingling numbness spread between them. It was like a spark shot through their bodies.
Both of them shuddered, unable to control it. Natasha took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. “Maybe we shouldn’t…”
In the middle of the day, in his office, if someone walked in and caught them, it would be a total disaster.
Besides, she wasn’t his only hookup. For all she knew, he might have already been with Lizzie, and now it was simply her
turn.
Jared’s hand slid beneath her dress, his touch sending shivers up her spine. He leaned in, his warm breath brushing her ear as he whispered, “Do you want it?”
Natasha’s breath came in quick, shallow bursts, her body tense with anticipation. Her heart thudded wildly, threatening to
burst from her chest.
“I haven’t even finished eating yet…” Natasha tried to stall, grasping for any excuse.
Jared chuckled softly. He scooped up a spoonful of chicken soup and held it to her lips. “Go ahead and eat. I had my housekeeper make this just for you, to help you get your strength back.”
Natasha froze for a second, caught off guard. ‘Seriously? He had his housekeeper cook it just for me?’ Natasha thought, a bit dumbfounded.
He totally set this up, calling her to his office with a plan in mind. Feed her first, then get down to business. He even made sure to have some nourishing soup ready, just in case she couldn’t keep up with him.
“I don’t even like chicken soup,” Natasha grumbled, clearly not thrilled. She shrank back, her body language screaming reluctance as she instinctively tried to dodge him.
“Come on, just one sip,” Jared teased, not taking no for an answer. The spoon was already at her lips, Jared making sure she couldn’t escape.
Natasha sighed and reluctantly took a sip. To her surprise, it actually tasted pretty good; rich, aromatic, and delicious.
“I can drink it myself,” she said, taking the bowl from him.
Her finger accidentally bumped into his. It was like getting zapped; electric sparks flying between them. Natasha jerked her hand back, her face burning with embarrassment.
Just then, the intercom started ringing. It was just the escape Natasha needed.
“Go ahead and eat, Jared called out. He turned and walked over to answer the call.
Natasha let out a quiet sigh of relief. She finished the soup and kept eating, working her way through the rest of the dishes.
Halfway through her meal, Jared finished his call and walked back over to her. “I’m heading to a meeting. Just stay here,” he said.
‘Wait, I’m supposed to hang out here alone?’ Natasha thought, feeling a bit uneasy. ‘In his office?’ She glanced around,

awkwardness creeping in.
Natasha barely had time to process it before Jared slipped out the door. She stared at the closed door for what felt like ages, then finally looked away. She let out a long breath and collapsed onto the couch, all her tension gone, and with it, her appetite.
Natasha honestly had no clue what she was supposed to do now. Was she supposed to wait around for Jared, or leave? She was totally at a loss.
‘Seriously, how did things between him and me get to this point?’ she thought, feeling completely bewildered
Her phone buzzed with a new message. Natasha checked her phone; it was from Dorothy. Asking her why she was not at the cafeteria yet.
That was when it hit Natasha, she’d totally forgotten she was supposed to meet Dorothy for lunch in the cafeteria.
Natasha quickly shot back a message to explain: [I got caught up with something and forgot to come down.]
Dorothy: [Did you have lunch yet? Want me to pack something up and bring it to you?]
Natasha: [No need! Derek brought me some food earlier.]
Dorothy shot back a voice message, totally shocked. “Derek even brought you lunch? Are you two already a thing?”
Natasha suddenly realized her reply had totally made her bestie jump to the wrong conclusion. But there was no way she could explain it now.
She couldn’t exactly tell Dorothy she was in Jared’s office, and Derek was delivering lunch for Jared and happened to bring her some too. If she said that, Dorothy would totally think something was going on between her and Jared.
Natasha sent a voice message back, “Seriously, nothing’s going on! Stop overthinking!”
After that, Dorothy didn’t reply. Natasha figured Dorothy was probably busy with something else, so she didn’t think much
of it.
She couldn’t eat anymore, so she just decided to wait in the office for Jared to come back. But after a while, the post-lunch drowsiness hit her. Natasha leaned back on the couch and drifted off to sleep.
Time slipped away while she was asleep, unnoticed. Jared stepped out of the conference room, two senior executives trailing behind him, still briefing him on something.
They were planning to follow him into his office for a quick meeting. But Jared suddenly stopped in his tracks and ordered, That’s it for today. You two can head out.”
The two executives shot each other a look, then turned and left. Only then did Jared push open the door to his office. He immediately spotted Natasha, reclining on the couch.
She was leaning to one side, eyes closed. She was dead to the world, not moving an inch. With the way she was sprawled out, her neck would be killing her when she woke up, and her back wouldn’t be much better.
Jared quickly closed the office door and walked over to her. He crouched down, slipped his arms around her back and under her knees, gently picked her up, and made sure she was lying comfortably on the couch..
