An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 169

Chapter 169 is She Mad at Him?

Chapter 169 Is She Mad at Him?

Over the next few days, Natasha kept to her routine, clocking in and out on time every day. She made sure to keep her distance from Jared, avoiding any unnecessary contact.

Whenever work forced her to interact with him, she’d pass the task off to someone else. Every time Jared tried to ask her out, she’d come up with an excuse to turn him down.

At lunchtime, Dorothy invited Natasha to join her in the cafeteria.

After tidying up her things and just as she was about to get up, Leigh knocked on the door and stepped into Natasha’s office. She handed Natasha a document. “Ms. Whittier, could you please take this to Mr. Rundell’s office and have him sign it?”

Natasha instinctively frowned. ‘Why me, though?’ she grumbled inwardly.

Ever since she’d caught Lizzie heading into his villa that night, Natasha had wanted nothing to do with Jared.

Sure, they were just friends with benefits; he didn’t owe her loyalty. But hooking up with two women at the same time was seriously out of line.

Natasha had always known that men like Jared were never satisfied with just one woman. But did he really have to make it so blatant, right in front of her?

“Can’t you send someone else?” Natasha blurted out, her reluctance obvious.

Leigh looked uneasy. “Honestly, Mr. Rundell’s been in a bad mood lately. Everyone who’s gone to his office got roasted. You’ re the only one who hasn’t been in there yet.”

Natasha was lost for words and she caught Leigh’s drift. ‘I can’t just let everyone else take the heat while I keep dodging it, can I?’ she thought.

They all worked for Jared. If she kept pushing others to face Jared’s wrath, she’d end up on everyone’s bad side. Her coworkers were probably starting to get annoyed with her.

“Alright, I’ll go,” Natasha said, gritting her teeth as she took the document.

Leigh’s face lit up. “Really appreciate it, Ms. Whittier!”

After leaving Natasha’s office, Leigh quickly tracked down Derek. “Mr. Mulder, I’ve taken care of what you asked me to do. But I don’t get it; why did it have to be Ms. Whittier who took the document to Mr. Rundell’s office?” Leigh asked in confusion.

Derek gave her a look and said, “Ms. Blakemore, some things are better left unasked.”

Leigh seemed to catch on and nodded quickly.

Natasha stood in front of Jared’s office. This was her first visit to the CEO’s office this week.

She took a deep breath and raised her hand to knock, but quickly lowered it.

She went through this cycle several times, but couldn’t muster the courage to knock. Natasha hesitated, wondering if she should just come back later.

Suddenly, the lock clicked open on the office door. Jared’s familiar voice came from inside the office, “Come in!”

Natasha froze for a moment. ‘How did he know I was pacing outside his office?’ she thought. ‘Can he actually see me through the security cameras at the door?’

‘Ugh, do I really have to do this?’ After wrestling with herself for a bit, Natasha finally pushed the door open and walked in.

As soon as she stepped inside, she was hit by a thick cloud of cigarette smoke. Natasha couldn’t help but cough softly, twice. ‘Geez, just how many cigarettes has he gone through?’ she thought.

She headed straight for his desk. “Mr. Rundell, there’s a document here that needs your signature.” Her tone was strictly business; cool and detached, which made Jared couldn’t help but frown.

He was dressed in a sharp, dark shirt, his cufflinks gleaming under the light, radiating an understated luxury and class.

Jared gave her a deep, lingering look, then took the document from Natasha, grabbed his gold pen, and was about to sign his name. Suddenly, he sat back in his chair, his tall frame relaxing against the backrest, and looked up at her.

Jared gave her a long, unreadable look, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Have you eaten yet?”

Before she could respond, he’d already picked up the phone and dialed an extension.

A moment later, Derek walked in carrying two thermal food containers. Derek watched Natasha and Jared without betraying any emotion.

He could immediately sense that the atmosphere in the CEO’s office wasn’t nearly as tense and cold as before.

Looks like having Ms. Whittier come in really helped. Mr. Rundell’s temper seemed to mellow out a lot.’ Derek inwardly breathed a sigh of relief.

Derek looked up and took the initiative to greet Natasha, “Ms. Whittier!”

As Jared’s executive assistant, he was used to everyone else always going out of their way to please him. But Natasha was the only exception; she never tried to curry favor with him.

Natasha responded with a natural smile. “Mr. Mulder.”

Jared, sitting behind his desk, watched as Natasha kept her face cold for him, but gave Derek a warm smile. His gaze instantly darkened andshot Derek a look sharp as a blade.

Derek felt the icy stare from Jared, and his back went rigid. Not daring to say another word to Natasha, he quickly set the thermal food containers down on the coffee table in the lounge area and practically bolted out of the room.

“Come eat with me,” Jared said, rising from his seat and giving her a calm but unmistakably authoritative order.

Natasha stayed rooted to the spot, refusing to budge.

“I’ll sign it after we’ve eaten,” Jared added, making it clear he wasn’t taking no for an answer.

Only then did Natasha’s gaze shift, showing a hint of hesitation. She followed him over to the lounge area.

Natasha watched Jared unpack the food, setting out the dishes and soup one after another. He looked unbothered, as if this was just routine for him,

All the dishes he laid out were her favorites. But Natasha just wasn’t in the mood to eat.

“Mr. Rundell, I’m really not hungry. You should eat by yourself,” Natasha said, keeping her tone polite but clearly distant.

Jared gave her a cold, piercing look, his lips twisting into a frosty smirk. “It’s just a meal; are you really that unwilling to sit

with me?”

He’d been asking her out for days now, but she kept shooting him down. He could feel she was purposely putting space between them. He honestly had no clue what he’d done to upset her, and he suddenly rubbed her the wrong way.
