Chapter 21 She’s Marned
Chapter 21 She’s Married
Natasha’s cheeks flushed.
Her heart started pounding like crazy.
‘Why do I feel like there’s something hidden in Jared’s words?’ she wondered.
‘Is there really any difference between Mr. Mulder and me?
‘If I had to be honest, the biggest difference is that Mr. Mulder can’t hook up with him or get dragged into any of his secret rules… Natasha thought, her mind racing.
‘Is he seriously hinting that I’m just his hidden plaything?’
“What are you thinking about, Ms. Whittier? Your face is so red.” Jared’s voice came from right beside her
“Mr. Rundell, I…” Natasha bit her lip, hesitating.
Jared’s deep eyes stared straight at her. “Are you thinking about me?”
“No, I wasn’t… How could I possibly have designs on you?” Natasha blurted out, her voice trembling.
But she didn’t even realize she was basically giving herself away with that denial.
Jared stood up and walked over to her.
He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, “We nearly went all the way, and you still say you wouldn’t dare?”
Natasha jolted in surprise, her whole body tense.
She almost stumbled, barely keeping herself upright.
‘He… he still remembers that night, Natasha thought.
Jared caught her, pulling her into his arms and pinning her against the desk behind him.
“Were you just thinking about that night in the car with me?” Jared gazed down at her, his warm breath washing over her face.
The suggestive pose made Natasha even more nervous.
It felt like he could kiss her at any moment.
She could feel the tension in the air, every nerve on edge.
“Mr. Rundell, please don’t…” Natasha blurted out, her voice trembling with panic.
“I’m married. Even if I wanted anything, it would only be with my husband… Please, Mr. Rundell!”
Jared’s gaze turned stormy.
His hand clamped down on her chin. “Say that again.”
Natasha braced herself, her voice shaking. “I… I’m married. If you keep doing this, it’ll ruin my marriage…”
The moment she finished, Jared let go of her.
He roared, “Get out!”
‘She really doesn’t know what’s good for her!’ Jared fumed to himself.
He’d never wanted any woman this badly before.
He was ready to throw caution to the wind and just take her, consequences be damned.
But all she could talk about was how she’s married, over and over again.
‘So what, am I supposed to throw myself at her and play the homewrecker now?’ Jared thought, his jaw clenched in frustration.
Natasha jumped at his roar.
She scrambled to her feet, desperate to get out of there.
Halfway to the door, she suddenly remembered something and turned back to him. “Mr. Rundell, what about my transfer?”
Jared’s face was stone cold. “If you don’t want the job, follow the proper procedure and submit your resignation. You can’t leave until HR finds someone to take over your work.”
Natasha parted her lips, about to say something.
She’d submitted her resignation to HR before, but it was like it disappeared-no one ever responded.

She couldn’t help but suspect that Jared had just ignored it from the start.
But with him right there, she didn’t dare bring it up.
“Anything else?” Jared asked coldly.
Natasha quickly shook her head. “No, that’s all. I’ll get back to work.”
With that, she bolted out of the office.
She was scared that if she hesitated even for a split second, Jared would snatch her right back and press her against the desk all over again.
Her mind was still a mess-if he kept teasing her like that, she might just slip up and do something stupid.
After Natasha left the office, Jared glanced down at his pants and cursed under his breath.
‘Damn, I’m letting her get to me again, he thought, annoyed with himself.
He quickly called the HR director. “If Natasha tries to resign again, just bury it. Don’t worry about anything else.”
Just as he expected, half an hour later, the HR director messaged him again, saying Natasha had submitted another resignation request.
Jared lit up a cigar, leaned back in his big chair, and blew out a cloud of smoke.
‘She seduced me, and now she thinks she can just slip away like that?
‘No way in hell, he thought to himself.
A few days later, Joelle came back from Tamont, loaded down with gifts and shopping bags.
Percy was back, too.
He was in the bathroom that evening, showering.
Natasha was passing by his room when she heard his phone ringing nonstop.
She paused for a moment, then decided to go in.
She was about to answer it for him.
But just as she picked up the phone, the caller hung up.
Natasha saw that the missed call on Percy’s phone was from Joelle.
‘So Joelle was the one who called?’ Natasha thought, raising an eyebrow.
‘It’s already so late. Why would Joelle be calling my husband now?’
She couldn’t help but frown.
Soon, she spotted a message from Joelle popping up on Percy’s phone.
[Percy, thanks for picking up the tab in Tamont. I absolutely love all the gifts you got me; you always know exactly what I like!]
Natasha felt her mind go blank for a second.
She found herself gripping the phone tighter without even realizing it.
These past few days, Joelle had been flooding her social media with photos of all the designer clothes, jewelry, and luxury bags she’d bought in Tamont.
Every single item was worth a fortune.
All the rich girls in her circle were dying of envy.
Natasha had just assumed Roxanne was the one footing the bill
She never would’ve guessed it was actually Percy who paid for everything.
She and Percy had been married for ages, but he’d never given her a single gift-not once had he spent a dime on her.
Percy was an illegitimate child, growing up poor with only his mother to depend on.
He wasn’t brought back to the Grosso family until he was already an adult.
He was always frugal, downright miserly when it came to Natasha.
‘So why is he suddenly so generous with Joelle?’ Natasha wondered.
‘Money really is the clearest way to judge how much a man loves you.’

Natasha used to scoff at that idea, but now she had to admit it was true.
The sound of water from the bathroom had stopped.
Natasha quickly put the phone down.
But before she could even leave the bedroom, Percy stepped out.
