Chapter 223 Already Divorced?
Chapter 223 Already Divorced?
Natasha’s heart skipped a beat.
She hadn’t expected him to take it that way.
Not wanting him to get the wrong idea, she quickly reached out to snatch it back. “Give it back!”
“Once you give something away, you can’t just take it back,” Jared said, a playful glint in his eyes.
Natasha glared at him, fuming. “Who said this belt was for you?”
She hadn’t even had a chance to hand it to Filmn herself last night.
He most likely took it while she was asleep.
Jared narrowed his eyes at her. “If it’s not for me, are you thinking of giving it to some other guy?”
Natasha shot back, “The point is, it’s not for you.”
Jared raised an eyebrow. “So where’s my birthday present?”
Natasha gave a little snort. “You said it yourself, I’m your birthday present!”
He kept her busy all night long the previous night.
That should be enough of a birthday gift for him.
Jared stared her down. “And what else?”
Natasha curled her lips. ‘Man, he’s got some nerve.’
She couldn’t help but get up and give him a gentle, fleeting kiss on the lips, just a brief touch, like a butterfly landing.
Then she murmured, “Happy birthday.”
She’d wanted to say it last night, but he never gave her the chance.
Jared was caught off guard for a moment, then he couldn’t help but smile.
This was the most wonderful birthday he’d ever had.
With her by his side, his once calm and uneventful life suddenly burst into color.
Just a ‘happy birthday’?” Jared asked, acting dissatisfied. However, he was absolutely thrilled inside.
Natasha shot him a playful glare. “So what more do you want?”
Jared gave her a deep, meaningful look. “I want you to wish me happy birthday every year from now on.”
“Eh?” She was dumbfounded.
‘He wants me to wish him happy birthday every single year?’ she thought.
‘Is he saying he wants me to stay by his side forever? That’s just impossible
She’d already made up her mind to leave once the holidays were over.
She and Jared came from completely different worlds, and there was no way they could ever have a future together.
Moreover, she didn’t want to stick around as his mistress, always hiding, never able to show her face.
She’d end up despising herself if she did.
Natasha could only play dumb.
“I’m hungry. Let’s have breakfast,” she said, steering the conversation away.
At the villa, Lily stepped out of the car and headed toward the entrance.
As she passed by, the bodyguards stationed there greeted her respectfully, calling out, “Ma’am!”
Lily ignored them and walked straight in.
She was about to head down to the basement.
“Ma’am, apologies, but you can’t go in without Mr. Jared’s permission,” one of the bodyguards said.
Lily shot them a cold glare. “Move aside. I’m his mother. Who dares stand in my way?”
The bodyguards looked troubled. “But…”
Lily cut them off. “Don’t worry, if anything goes wrong, I’ll take the fall. None of you will get in trouble.”

After she said that, the bodyguards had no choice but to let her through.
She headed down into the basement.
“Lily, please, help me…” Joelle cried out as soon as she saw her, desperate for rescue.
She dashed over as if she’d seen her savior.
But the bodyguards grabbed her, holding her back.
Lily waved them off, telling them to let Joelle go.
“Leave us alone for a bit. Let me have a private word with her,” Lily said.
The bodyguards hesitated for a moment, then left.
Afterwards, Lily scanned the basement.
The place was shrouded in darkness. No sunlight ever reached down there, just a single wall lamp barely lighting the place.
She found a sofa and sat down. “Alright, you had someone contact me, said you had something important to say. So, what is it?”
She was only there because Joelle had paid off one of the bodyguards guarding her and had a message sent to Lily.
Joelle said, “It’s about Natasha.”
Lily narrowed her eyes. “What is it?”
Seeing Lily was interested, Joelle felt sure she’d found the right ally.
A mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were less likely to get along perfectly.
Additionally, Lily was never fond of Natasha.
As the saying goes, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Natasha was the common enemy for both Joelle and Lily.
So, naturally, Joelle and Lily were allies.
Joelle deliberately kept her in suspense. “Get me out of here first, then I’ll tell you.”
Lily immediately saw through her intentions.
“You went to all this trouble to get me here, so I’d help you get out of here?” Lily asked.
Joelle replied, “I’ve got some secrets about Natasha that you’d love to hear, so it’s only right you help me get out of here.”
Lily sized her up.
Joelle’s clothes were rumpled, and her hair was a tangled mess.
Gone was any trace of her former heiress presence.
She looked just like a pitiful prisoner.
“Wasn’t my son really fond of you before? So why are you stuck in the basement now?” Lily asked.
A trace of sadness flickered in Joelle’s eyes.
Percy really liked her back then.
But that was because he believed she owned that handkerchief.
Since he realized he’d mistaken her for someone else, he couldn’t stand her. There was no way he could still like her.
Joelle let out a cold laugh. “Don’t you know what kind of man your son is? He’s the heir to the Grosso family. How could he possibly like me the way he used to?”
That was all Lily needed to hear.
“Glad you know your place. My son’s out of your league. Someone like you could never hope to get close to him. Just stay away from my son from now on!” Lily warned, taking the opportunity to remind her.
Joelle’s face stiffened.
