Chapter 227 Time to Cut Ties
Chapter 227 Time to Cut Ties
Jared’s gaze was cold as he warned, “So you’d better not let this slip.”
Lizzie’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
She never expected Jared to go this far to warn her because of Natasha.
Her nails were digging so hard into her palms that they nearly broke the skin.
As Jared turned to leave, Lizzie stared at his cold profile and couldn’t help but ask, “Are you serious about her, or is it just a fling?”
Jared completely ignored her.
He didn’t even dignify her question with a response.
Whatever was going on between him and Natasha had nothing to do with her. And she had no right to know.
He walked off without a second glance, acting like he hadn’t heard a thing.
Meanwhile, Lizzie stood rooted to the spot, seething with anger.
Jealousy blazed in her chest, wild and unstoppable.

Natasha changed into her backup dress in the lounge.
As soon as she stepped back into the party, Percy was already there, waiting for her.
“Why are you here?” Percy asked.
His dark eyes locked onto her, scrutinizing and assessing her every move.
Jared had just forcefully kissed her.
She’d changed into a new dress, and her lipstick had been freshly reapplied.
She couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty.
She was afraid someone might notice there was something secret between her and Jared.
Especially Percy.
They had a confidentiality agreement between them.
And knowing Percy, there was no way he’d let her start something new with another man before he officially married Joelle.
“I came here to accompany my boss,” Natasha explained in an even tone.
Percy pressed further, “Wait, Jared is your boss?”
Natasha nodded. “He is.”
She did her best to keep Percy from noticing any slip.
But Percy still sensed something was off.
“You weren’t wearing this dress earlier, were you?” he suddenly remarked.
Natasha’s expression stiffened for a split second.
Obviously, she couldn’t admit that Jared had ripped her dress to shreds.
If she said that, Percy would instantly know something had gone down between her and Jared.
“Someone accidentally spilled wine on my dress earlier, so I changed into a backup in the lounge,” she explained calmly.
Percy seemed convinced and dropped the matter.
Seeing this, Natasha breathed a silent sigh of relief.
She was about to make her escape.
But then Percy suddenly asked, “I especially ordered a bouquet of roses for you from ‘Only Love’ this morning. Did you get them?”
“Wait, what?” Natasha blurted out.
She froze for a moment, completely caught off
She never imagined Percy was the one who sei

Percy saw the shock all over her pretty face and asked, “What’s wrong, you don’t like the flowers?”

Natasha snapped out of it and quickly shook her head. “I got them, they’re beautiful! But could you not send me any more?”
Percy frowned, confused. “Why?”
He’d actually been planning to send her a bouquet of roses every day from then on.
Natasha said gently, “We’ve already broken up, so it’s not really okay for you to keep sending me roses.”
Her words were her way of setting boundaries between them.
Hearing that, Percy’s expression turned gloomy. “Why isn’t it okay?”
Natasha raised an eyebrow. “You don’t want my sister getting mad or jealous, right?”
Percy repeated, “I’ve already told you, there’s nothing between Joelle and me anymore.”
Natasha gave him a cold glance. “Well, that’s your business, not mine.”
Indeed, it was none of her concern. She had zero interest in hearing about it.
She turned and walked away.
But Percy grabbed her hand, desperate. “You don’t believe me?”
Natasha instinctively pulled her hand back. “Does it even matter if I believe you?”
‘Why does he act as if it matters? Seriously…
To her surprise, Percy insisted, “It does!”
Natasha was taken aback for a moment.
She shrugged and said, “Fine, I believe you. Will that make you happy?”
Percy stared at her, searching her face for any sign of what she was thinking.
He wanted to explain, but he didn’t even know where to start.
He knew his past with Joelle had hurt Natasha.
He could understand why she’d be wary of him.
But ever since he found out Joelle wasn’t the girl who saved him back then, he stopped pampering her or making excuses
for her.
He no longer treated Joelle with the same indulgence or favoritism as before.
“I’ve really cut things off with your sister. We’re done for good, and I won’t ever have anything to do with her again,” Percy said, trying to reassure her.
But Natasha felt like his explanation was just a waste of breath.
She and Percy were already over.
She couldn’t care less who he was with.
‘What a joke, Natasha thought to herself.
Back when she was with Percy, she had longed for him to make her a promise like that, but he never once did.
But when their relationship was over, there he was, standing in front of her, swearing up and down that things were different.
‘Does it even matter anymore?’ she wondered.
To Natasha, it meant absolutely nothing.
“You don’t need to say that to me,” Natasha replied, cold and distant.
She and Percy were done.
His business was no longer her concern.
She wasn’t about to waste another second on the wrong guy.
Percy called out, still holding onto her. “Natasha…”
He refused to let her go.
He parted his lips, as if he had more to say.
But Natasha frowned and shot back, “So what? Just because you’re done with Joelle or me, doesn’t mean your love life is over!”
Percy was left speechless.
