An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 244

Chapter 244 Candlelit Dinner

Chapter 244 Candlelit Dinner

Natasha replied calmly, “Sorry, I can’t do that.”

Lizzie was stunned. She hadn’t expected Natasha to shoot her down without a second thought.

“What did you say?” Lizzie asked.

Natasha stared her straight in the eyes. “I said, I can’t do that.”

Jared was her boss.

They worked together, and there was no way she could avoid bumping into him.

That would be too much to ask, and Lizzie was being totally unreasonable with that request.

Hearing that, Lizzie’s eyes narrowed. “How long are you going to keep chasing after Jared?”

Natasha let out a mocking laugh. “Why do you assume I’m the one chasing Jared? Maybe he’s the one chasing me.”

Lizzie’s face turned cold. “Isn’t that obvious? With Jared’s status, do you really think he’d ever be obsessed with you?”

Only Lizzie herself knew just how much doubt she felt inside as she said that.

With Jared’s personality, if it were any other woman, he probably wouldn’t have even bothered.

ļ

“If that’s the case, why not go pitch yourself to Jared? Offer to be his new friend with benefits. If he’s up for it, it’s fine by me,” Natasha suggested.

Lizzie’s expression shifted again and again.

Natasha was unaware that she hadn’t already tried that.

If Jared had accepted her, even just as friends with benefits, Lizzie would have taken it in a heartbeat.

“Don’t get cocky, Natasha. Just because Jared’s interested in you now doesn’t mean you’ll ever marry him. Let me tell you, someone with your background will never land a spot in high society!” Lizzie spat out, her voice full of malice. Natasha just shrugged, totally unfazed. “Good, because I never planned on marrying into high society anyway.”

Lizzie was stunned again. “What did you just say? You mean you never wanted to marry Jared?”

Natasha replied, “Ms. Hopkins, not everyone’s like you. Some of us don’t spend our lives dreaming about marrying rich.”

Lizzie and her sister Joelle were cut from the same cloth.

For them, landing a rich husband was basically their lifelong mission.

But instead of setting her sights on marrying into money, she wanted to.hustle and become the boss herself.

Counting on herself was a hell of a lot more dependable than banking on some guy.

Lizzie narrowed her eyes. “Do you really think I’d believe you just because you said that?”

Natasha shot her a cold glance. “Believe whatever you want. It’s time for me to get to work, Ms. Hopkins. Don’t let me keep you.”

Lizzie was seething with anger, unable to swallow her frustration.

“I’m asking you one last time. Are you willing to cut things off with Jared once and for all?” she demanded, her fists clenched tight.

Natasha locked eyes with her. “You have no right to order me around.”

Whether things ended between her and Jared was their business, not Lizzie’s.

Besides, Lizzie was just the future daughter-in-law that Jared’s mom wanted for him. She and Jared had nothing official between them.

‘Who was she to make demands of me?’

A sharp, icy glint flashed in Lizzie’s eyes. “Natasha, just you wait.”

She wasn’t about to let Natasha get away with it. ‘Jared is mine. No one else gets him.’

As the workday was winding down, Natasha got another call from Jared on the office line.

“Wait for me. We’ll leave together,” he said.

So, Natasha just hung around in her office, waiting until almost everyone else had left for the day.

Jared finally pushed open the door and walked in.

“Any ideas for dinner tonight?” Jared asked.

He walked over, reached for her hand, and held it gently as he spoke.

“Whatever,” Natasha replied, clearly distracted.

Once she saw Jared, Natasha couldn’t help but recall what Lizzie had said to her that morning.

Lizzie wasn’t his girlfriend or his fiancée. So really, she had no business telling Natasha to stay away from Jared.

But sooner or later, Jared was bound to get married.

There’d be another woman by his side, his rightful partner.

And when that happened, it’d be the end for them:

Jared kept his arm around Natasha as they rode the executive elevator down to the garage.

Once they got into his Rolls-Royce, Natasha didn’t say a word.

“What’s on your mind?” Jared asked, holding her tighter.

He could sense she had something on her mind.

“I missed you,” Natasha blurted out before she could stop herself.

Jared’s face instantly lit up with joy.

“Didn’t know you missed me this much,” he teased.

He cupped her cheek, leaned in, and pressed a kiss to her lips.

It wasn’t until his tongue explored her mouth that Natasha realized what she’d just blurted out.

She’d actually confessed she missed him, right to his face.

No wonder Jared couldn’t hold himself back.

“Enough, stop kissing me!” Natasha gasped.

She was so breathless from his kisses that she felt like she was suffocating.

She finally managed to push him away, gasping for air.

Jared smirked. “Didn’t you say you missed me? I’m just letting you get your fill of kisses.”

Natasha’s cheeks turned bright red.

She gave him an annoyed look.

‘Yeah, right, like he’s actually letting me kiss him as much as I want, Natasha thought.

Just then, the Rolls-Royce came to a stop.

Natasha had assumed Jared was eager to get her back to the villa for some action.

But to her surprise, the car pulled up in front of a fancy restaurant.

“Let’s have dinner first, then we’ll get back to what we were doing,” He caught her puzzled expression and explained in a low voice.

Last night, Natasha had already worn him out. He wasn’t exactly desperate for her that night.

He figured she should eat first, so she wouldn’t end up like last night, passing out right after without even grabbing a bite.

If this kept up, she’d end up wrecking her health.

Natasha thought for a moment. “Sure, but just so we’re clear, I’m paying for dinner tonight.”

“You’re paying?” Jared blinked in surprise.

It was a first. A woman actually wanted to buy him dinner.

Natasha raised an eyebrow. “You’ve treated me to dinner plenty of times before. It’s my turn to pay this time.”

Jared stayed silent for a bit, then opened the car door, grabbed Natasha’s hand, and they got out together.

The restaurant had a sophisticated and romantic ambiance.

The gentle strains of a violin drifted through the air.

As Natasha walked in, she realized Jared had reserved the entire place just for them.

All so they could enjoy a candlelit dinner together.

In other words, this meal wasn’t exactly cheap.

No wonder Jared gave me that surprised look earlier.
