Chapter 272 He’s Announcing His Divorce

But Percy signaled his bodyguards with a look, and they stepped in to stop her, then escorted her away.

Everyone in the crowd watched the scene unfold.

Natasha was among them.

Percy spotted her, too.

His deep, dark eyes locked onto hers.

He looked like he was about to say something to her….

But with all those eyes on them, he hesitated and ended up biting back whatever he was about to say.

Natasha could see Percy wanted to talk to her.

But Natasha honestly didn’t care what he had to say.

She went with Dorothy to the restaurant next door to grab a bite.

While Dorothy was ordering, Natasha excused herself and headed to the restroom.

To her surprise, the restroom actually connected to the mall next door.

Before she even stepped inside, Natasha overheard two women chatting.

“Joan, you’re so lucky. Percy actually noticed you,” one of them said.

“Lucky? Please. Someone hired me to play the part of his so-called handkerchief girl,” Joan replied.

“So, does Percy actually have a thing for the girl who owns that handkerchief?” the first woman asked.

“Yeah, I guess so,” Joan replied.

“But what if Percy finds out you’re faking it? Wouldn’t you be in trouble?” the first woman said.

“Who cares? I’ll take it as it comes. They’re paying a lot, so whatever,” Joan shrugged.

“So, who’s the one paying you?” the first woman asked.

“I really don’t know. The person who hired me sent an underling to handle it,” Joan replied.

Natasha was honestly shocked as she overheard their conversation.

Joan was specifically hired and placed by Percy’s side.

All so Percy would think she was the real handkerchief girl.

Someone was intentionally trying to mislead Percy.

Natasha wondered to herself, ‘Who could possibly be behind all this?

‘Could they already know I’m the real handkerchief girl?

‘Maybe they don’t want me and Percy together, so they went out of their way to hire this woman to mess things up.”

The more Natasha thought about it, the more convinced she became that this was exactly what was going on.

But what really threw her off was that Percy actually seemed to have feelings for the handkerchief girl.

He was openly flaunting his affection with this woman, mistaking her for the real handkerchief girl.

That was something Natasha never saw coming.

She always figured Percy would only ever marry someone from his own elite circle, a rich heiress whose family matched his.

When they were a thing, Percy was all about a woman’s pedigree.

She never expected him to break his own rules for the handkerchief girl.

‘Would he still break his own rules if he knew I was the real handkerchief girl?’ Natasha wondered.

Natasha gave her head a little shake, telling herself not to spiral any further.

No matter what, she and Percy were done for good.

They’d never have anything to do with each other again.

Might as well let Percy go on believing that woman was the real handkerchief girl.

That way, they wouldn’t have to get tangled up with each other anymore in the future.

Natasha quickly freshened up in the restroom and hurried out.

She was wearing high heels.

The smooth marble floor made her heels slip a little.

She couldn’t walk quickly.

She had to move carefully, one step at a time.

Suddenly, a tall, imposing figure stepped right in front of her.

Before Natasha could even process what was happening, she was pulled into a secluded spot off to the side.

“Percy, what the hell are you doing? Let me go!” Natasha snapped.

Natasha instinctively tried to pull away from him.

Percy released her hand, but used his body to block her, trapping Natasha in the corner.

“Why are you here?” Percy asked.

Natasha shot him a glare. “I can go wherever I want. I don’t owe you any explanations.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Natasha shoved at him, trying to get him out of her way.

But no matter how many times she pushed, Percy wouldn’t budge an inch.

“About that woman you saw earlier, it’s not what you think…” Percy tried to explain, looking right at her.

Natasha interrupted him, her voice icy. “Whatever. It has nothing to do with me.”

She didn’t want to hear any of his explanations.

It really had nothing to do with her.

She and Percy were done, and he didn’t owe her any explanations.

Percy’s expression turned grim.

“So it really doesn’t matter to you at all who I’m with now?” he asked, his voice tinged with hurt.

Natasha’s cold attitude still stung him.

Natasha shot him a cold look. “How am I supposed to care? It’s not like I’m anyone to you now.”

“I’ve never heard of anyone caring about their ex’s private life after breaking up.”

“You were the one who ended things, so why are you pretending to care now?”

Percy was completely thrown off by what Natasha said.

He stood there, silent for what felt like ages.

As Percy was about to say something, a voice suddenly called out from behind them, “Percy.”

It was Joan.

She’d already changed her clothes and was heading their way.

Percy immediately let go of Natasha and turned to walk over to Joan.

His gaze shifted from stormy to gentle as he looked at her.

“Everything’s dry now?” Percy asked.

“Yeah.”

Joan nodded, her eyes full of shy affection as she looked at him.

Natasha thought to herself, ‘This woman’s acting is damn good.

‘She’s here because someone paid her.

‘But she’s acting like she’s totally crushing on Percy.’

Percy bent down and murmured something in Joan’s ear. Natasha couldn’t hear what he said.

Joan’s cheeks flushed, and she shyly gave his shoulder a playful punch.

Then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Natasha.

She immediately lowered her voice and asked, “Percy, who’s this?”

She’d seen Percy and Natasha in a bit of a tussle, and now she couldn’t help but wonder who Natasha was.

“She’s my…” Percy started to say.

But before he could finish, Natasha cut in.

“I’m his ex,” she said, her tone cool and matter-of-fact.

Hearing that, Joan gave Natasha a quick once-over, sizing her up from head to toe.

Then she managed a polite smile. “Hi, I’m Joan Simonds.”

She offered her hand to Natasha.

Natasha shook her hand.
