Chapter 273 She Didn’t Tell Him
Chapter 273 She Didn’t Tell Him
Natasha had walked back into the restaurant when she got a call about an interview. When she asked which company it was, she was caught off guard. It was Milford Group. Dorothy was busy eating when she looked up and noticed Natasha seemed distracted. “What’s wrong? Who was that on the phone?” Dorothy asked.
“It was an interview invitation,” Natasha replied.
Dorothy grinned, genuinely happy for her. “So, someone finally wants to hire you?”
Natasha’s expression grew distant. “Milford Group.”
Dorothy’s eyes lit up. “Milford Group is as big as Rundell Group. If you get in there, your career will take off.”
Natasha looked troubled. “But the thing is, Milford Group is Nicolas’s company.”
Dorothy blinked, confused. “So what?”
Natasha sighed. “He’s my ex-brother-in-law. If I apply to his company, people might think I’m sleeping my way into the job.” Dorothy waved her hand dismissively. “You said it yourself, he’s your ex-brother-in-law. Besides, everyone uses a little connection these days.
“Most people wish they could use connections like that, but they don’t even get the opportunity.”
Natasha thought about it and realized Dorothy had a point.
If she didn’t have any connections, there was no way she’d even get a foot in the door at a company like Milford Group.
Besides, it was an interview. Nothing was set in stone yet.
She might as well give it a shot.
The next morning, Natasha deliberately got up early and applied a professional makeup look.
She changed into a sleek white business suit.
She looked both refined and sharp.
The interview was scheduled for ten in the morning.
After finishing her breakfast, Natasha finally headed out.
Milford Group’s headquarters was a landmark building.
The exterior was tall and commanding, and inside, everything gleamed with opulent gold, pure luxury everywhere you looked.
Natasha walked in and explained why she was there.
The receptionist smiled and said, “Ms. Whittier, you can go straight to the CEO’s office on the top floor for your interview.”
Natasha blinked in surprise. “Shouldn’t I be going to HR for the interview?”
‘Why am I being sent straight to the CEO’s office?’ she wondered.
The receptionist replied, “Mr. Milford personally instructed us to send you there.”
Natasha hesitated for a moment before stepping into the elevator, feeling unsure.
She wondered, ‘Nicolas personally instructed this?
‘That’s odd.
‘Why would someone at his level bother with something like this?’
Natasha stood outside the CEO’s office.
She took a deep breath, composed herself, and knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
Natasha pushed the door open and stepped inside.
To her surprise, there were other people inside.
Nicolas was in the middle of a meeting with several senior executives.
As soon as she walked in, everyone turned to look at her.

Their first impression was that she was seriously beautiful
Natasha was stunning.
Nicolas’s heart gave a sudden jolt.
He fixed his gaze on her, a smile tugging at his lips. “Take a seat over there for now.”
Natasha nodded. “Sure, go ahead.”
She settled onto the couch in the waiting area.
She grabbed a book and casually flipped through it.
Natasha deliberately blocked out the meeting, making sure not to listen in.
After a while, the meeting wrapped up, and once everyone else had left, Nicolas finally walked over to her.
“So, what do you think? Do you like it here?” Nicolas asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
“I really like it. This place is wonderful,” Natasha replied with a smile.
Nicolas’s lips curled into a confident smile. “Starting today, you’re working here.”
Natasha froze for a moment.
She wondered, ‘Is he actually hiring me.
‘He made up his mind after barely a few words?’
“You’re hiring me? Just like that?” Natasha asked, unable to hide her disbelief.
Nicolas raised an eyebrow. “As my assistant, your monthly salary will be three times what you earned under Jared. Any objections?”
Natasha shook her head. “No problem.”
Natasha thought, ‘This pay is amazing.
‘But…’
Natasha hesitated, then asked, “Are you sure you want me as your assistant?”
Nicolas raised an eyebrow. “Weren’t you working as Jared’s assistant before? You’ve got the experience, right?” Natasha nodded. “Yeah, I do have experience as an assistant. I never thought you’d want me for the same job.” Nicolas shrugged. “I happen to need an assistant right now.”
Natasha had no real way to refuse, his reasoning was too solid.
Plus, she’d already worked as Jared’s assistant before.
So jumping back into the assistant role would be a piece of cake for her.
Nicolas pressed the intercom and called Ada Watkins in to assign Natasha her tasks.
By the time Natasha finished her hectic day at work, night had already fallen outside. Natasha arrived home after work, stepping out of the elevator into her apartment building.
She saw a streak of crimson flickering in the darkness,
It made her jump.
When the light above her head clicked on, she could finally make out the man standing at her door.
It was Jared.
“Why are you here?” Natasha asked, genuinely surprised.
She looked at him, startled.
She wondered, ‘Did he already hear I started at Milford Group?
‘Is he here to confront me about it?’
But it was normal that she’d quit and switched to another company.
Besides, Nicolas was his childhood buddy.
She felt that Jared shouldn’t be upset about it.
Jared marched over to her, his steps full of urgency.

He seized her wrist and yanked her right in front of him.
Natasha was completely caught off guard, tumbling straight into his rock-hard chest.
Her head knocked against him as she landed in his arms.
‘My heart was racing; Natasha thought.
She instinctively tried to push him away.
But Jared locked his arms around her waist, holding her even tighter, refusing to let her go.
“Are you divorced now?” Jared asked, his eyes locked on hers, his voice urgent.
Jared’s eyes bore into hers, urgency clear in his voice as he asked..
Natasha froze for a moment.
‘I didn’t expect him to know already,’ Natasha thought, surprised.
But then it dawned on her, he’d already made things official with his new girlfriend, so word must’ve gotten around.
Jared must’ve heard about it by now.
Since that was the case, she had nothing left to hide.
“Yeah,” Natasha replied, nodding.
Jared grew even more agitated.
His chest tightened sharply.
He couldn’t help but pull her closer, gripping her waist. “Did you end things with him a long time ago?”
Natasha guessed from his question that Jared had already dug up the exact date she and her ex-husband split.
“Yes,” she admitted again.
Jared fixed his gaze on her, eyes narrowed in frustration. “Why didn’t you tell me?
