An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 276

Chapter 276 Ask Her Out

Chapter 276 Ask Her Out

Natasha knew that gaze belonged to Jared.

But now, there was nothing left to say between them.

Natasha passed around the coffee she’d picked up to everyone.

Her coworkers who got a cup from her started to see her in a much better light.

As Natasha was about to head back to her office, she saw Felicia crying as she came out of the CEO’s office

Felicia had been fired.

After Nicolas learned about Natasha buying coffee for everyone, he fired Felicia.

After Felicia got fired, her coworkers started looking at Natasha differently.

They were a bit more respectful and cautious around her now.

It was clear nobody wanted to mess with her. They’d rather keep their distance.

Natasha even overheard people gossiping that she was Nicolas’s former sister-in-law, and that they were unusually close.

When Natasha heard that, she felt really uncomfortable inside.

People could question if she got her position by sleeping her way to the top.

But they had no right to smear her relationship with Nicolas.

They had a normal relationship.

She sighed, feeling defeated.

Natasha knocked on the CEO’s office door.

She expected to see Jared there.

But in the spacious office, only Nicolas was there, busy reviewing documents.

There was no sign of Jared.

Natasha let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.

‘Good thing Jared isn’t here, Natasha thought to herself.

“Do you need something?” Nicolas looked up at her, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Natasha nodded and walked over to him. “Mr. Milford, did you fire Felicia?”

Nicolas nodded. “Yeah.”

Natasha asked, “Is it okay if I ask why?”

Nicolas raised an eyebrow. “I told you in the elevator. You’re my personal assistant. In this whole company, only I have the authority to boss you around.”

‘It really was all because of me, Natasha thought.

Natasha’s expression turned serious.

“Thanks for sticking up for me, Mr. Milford.

“If you fire Felicia, everyone’s going to think I’m some outsider brought in by connections, and that I can throw my weight around here because of who I know.”

Nicolas Milford arched his lips in a teasing grin. “Isn’t that exactly what you are?”

Natasha was stunned, at a loss for words.

She felt her face burning, cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

She did get this job thanks to her connections.

That meant she had to tread even more carefully.

She’d barely set foot in the company before Nicolas had fired a long-time staff member because of her. Her coworkers would definitely be wary of her.

She felt that she could not fit in here after all this.

“Even so, I don’t want to throw my weight around here.” Natasha said.

Nicolas grinned. “What if I gave you the power to run the place however you wanted?”

Natasha retorted, “I don’t want that kind of power from you. Treat me like everyone else.”

She didn’t want any privileges.

Nicolas gave her a long, searching look.

‘Yeah, she really is different from the rest,’ Nicolas thought to himself.

“So, you’re standing up for Felicia?” Nicolas asked.

“Yeah,” Natasha admitted.

Nicolas shot her a sideways glance and reminded her, “But she might not even care about your help.”

Natasha replied, “If she doesn’t, that’s her problem. I want.to.do what’s right.”

Nicolas arched an eyebrow. “Alright, got it. Get back to work.”

Natasha still couldn’t tell if he’d actually agreed or not.

After leaving the CEO’s office, she headed toward the restroom.

But as she stepped out, someone called to her, “Mr. Milford wants you in the conference room, Natasha. He’s called a meeting. Go ahead and wait there.”

Natasha nodded. “Okay.”

She headed toward the conference room.

As soon as she pushed the door open, someone grabbed her wrist.

Before she could react, she was pinned against the door.

That familiar masculine scent hit her.

Natasha knew right away that it was Jared.

‘Is he out of his mind?’ Natasha thought.

This was the Milford Group’s conference room.

Nicolas would be here for a meeting any minute.

‘What the hell is he trying to do?’ Natasha wondered.

“Let go of me!” Natasha shouted.

She fought to break free, pushing against him with all her strength.

But Jared held on tight, refusing to release her.

He leveraged his height and strength, easily overpowering her.

He pressed her firmly against the door, making it impossible for her to escape.

Jared pinned her against the door, his voice low and rough as he demanded, “Why did you come to Milford Group?”

Natasha’s delicate brows knitted together in frustration.

“I’m here to work at Milford Group, that’s all,” she said defensively.

Before this, Harley and Jared’s parents had teamed up to blacklist her.

Besides Nicolas, no one else would even dare to hire her.

Honestly, she really had to thank Nicolas for this.

If it weren’t for him, she’d still be out of work right now.

“You really think that because Nicolas is covering for you, you can feel safe here?”

Jared murmured by her ear.

Natasha thought, ‘Of course I know it’s not that simple.

‘But honestly, what else can I do right now except play it by ear?’

“It’s none of your business. Let go of me!” Natasha shouted, her anger flaring.

Where she worked now had nothing to do with him.

‘Who does he think he is, acting like he can control my life?’ Natasha fumed to herself.

Jared’s expression darkened instantly at her words.

His brows furrowed hard, frustration written all over his face.

He gripped her jaw, tilted her face up, and claimed her lips in a fierce, demanding kiss.

Natasha let out a soft murmur as Jared’s lips suddenly covered hers.

Her eyes were wide with disbelief, staring at him as if he’d lost his mind.

Natasha thought, ‘Did he really kiss me here, in the Milford Group’s conference room?’

‘Can’t he at least hold back a little? This isn’t even his territory.’

Natasha clenched her fists and punched Jared’s chest furiously, trying to break free.

But Jared didn’t move an inch, his kiss only grew deeper and more intense.

Natasha felt her breath snatched away, almost suffocating as she struggled to breathe.

Then, she heard footsteps and gossip drifting in from outside the conference room.
