Natasha woke up the next morning.

She spotted a message from Jared on her phone.

His message was sent after her last text last night.

Seeing no one was paying attention, she dashed across the street and jumped into the Rolls-Royce in a flash.

Jared shot the driver a glance.

The driver immediately hit the gas and turned the wheel.

Natasha sat there, feeling a wave of nervousness she couldn’t shake.

‘What does Jared really want from me tonight?’ she wondered.

They’d only ever been friends with benefits, not an actual couple.

They’d never gone on a real date before.

She’d tried to refuse, but it was useless.

While she was feeling uneasy, a big hand suddenly reached out toward her.

Her eyes flickered with caution as she instinctively dodged away.

“What are you trying to do?” Natasha shot back.

She thought, ‘Didn’t we agree this was a date?

‘Is he really trying to get handsy with me on our very first date?

‘Is he seriously making a move right here in the car?’

Jared leaned in closer.

His masculine scent wrapped around her, making her heart skip a beat.

Seeing Natasha’s wary expression, Jared couldn’t help but be amused.

Jared smirked, “Why so tense? I’m helping you with your seatbelt.”

Natasha blinked in surprise.

She snapped out of it and quickly shoved him away. “No need, I can do it myself.”

But Jared wasn’t about to let her do it herself.

He grabbed the seatbelt, snapped it in with a click, strapping her in tight.

Then he smirked, clearly pleased with himself.

Once he pulled back, Natasha finally let out a small sigh of relief.

She pressed herself against the window, watching the world rush by outside.

Out of nowhere, Jared handed her a massive bouquet of roses, filling her arms.

Natasha glanced down, there had to be at least a hundred scarlet roses, lush and almost dripping with color.

Her heart instinctively skipped a beat.

“Are these for me?” she asked.

Natasha turned to Jared.

Jared nodded, “Yeah, of course. Do you like them?”

Tonight was their first official date.

It was only natural for him to give her roses on their first date.

Natasha hugged the bouquet to her chest. “I do like them, but maybe next time, skip the flowers.”

She loved flowers.

But liking something didn’t mean she had to have it.

Because she agreed to go out with Jared tonight didn’t mean they’d end up together.

Given where things stood between them, it really wasn’t appropriate for Jared to give her roses. Accepting them felt awkward, but turning them down felt as awkward.

By the time Natasha snapped out of it, the Rolls-Royce had already left the highway and was rolling along a paved country road.

The night was fully settled in, pitch black outside.

The streetlights barely lit the road.

Farmland lined both sides of the road.

In the distance, they could make out a few scattered lights from farmhouses.

Natasha couldn’t help but feel a wave of unease.

Natasha bit her lip. “Where are you taking me?”

She hadn’t wanted to ask, but now she had no choice.

With her safety and money on the line, she had to know what Jared was really up to.

“You’ll find out when we get there,” Jared said with a hint of mystery.

Natasha couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

She wondered, ‘Seriously, what does he mean by “you’ll find out when we get there”?
