Once inside the villa, Jared scooped her up and gently set her down on the sofa.

He poured her a glass of warm water and placed it in her hands.

Jared said, “Here, have some water first. I’ll go fix you some dinner.”

Natasha held the glass, watching Jared leave, her brows furrowed in confusion.

‘Didn’t he say he wanted me to come back with him?’ she wondered.

She’d already texted Dorothy in the car.

She told Dorothy she wouldn’t be back tonight.

But after he carried her inside, he didn’t kiss her, didn’t touch her, and didn’t even make a move on her.

Instead, he was taking care of her, pouring her water and making dinner.

‘What does he really want?’ Natasha wondered.

She took a sip of water, leaned back on the sofa, and started mindlessly scrolling through her phone.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed with a new message.

Percy: [Where did you and Jared go?]

Natasha froze for a second.

She wondered, ‘How does Percy even know I left with Jared?

‘Is he psychic or something? How does he always know everything?

‘Besides, hasn’t he already hooked up with someone new?

‘Who I’m with now is none of his freaking business.’

Natasha didn’t bother replying.

Soon, Percy sent another message: [Are you hanging out with him every day now?]

Natasha glanced at it.

all the time.

‘What’s it got to do with Percy, anyway?

‘He’s my ex-husband, already moved on with someone new. Why does he even care what his ex-wife is up to?’

Seeing that Natasha still wasn’t replying, Percy started spamming her with messages.

He blew up her phone with a ton of messages.

Natasha’s frown deepened with every message she read.

Percy’s words dripped with disdain and belittling.

In his eyes, she wasn’t good enough for Jared, or for him.

But then she paused.

Natasha thought, ‘If I block him, won’t that make it look like I actually care?

‘Setting real boundaries with someone isn’t about making a big deal out of it.

‘It’s not about some dramatic purge.

‘It’s acting like they don’t even exist.

‘Focus on yourself.

‘Don’t bother with anyone or anything else.

‘Don’t let anyone or anything mess with your vibe.’

If she blocked Percy, it would look like she actually cared.

Percy would get even more full of himself about it.

He’d only end up looking down on her even more.

So Natasha kept ignoring him.

Suddenly, the mouthwatering scent of dinner drifted through the air.

It was coming from the kitchen.

Natasha put her phone away and headed toward the kitchen.

There, she spotted Jared, tall and wearing an apron, expertly chopping vegetables!

Watching his smooth moves, Natasha couldn’t help but blurt out, “Your knife skills are amazing.”

Jared glanced at her. “If I chop everything extra carefully, the flavors soak in better, It’ll taste even more amazing when you eat it.”

Natasha felt warmth spread through her.

‘So he’s doing all this for me, she thought.

Last time she watched him cook, his knife skills were nothing special.

Now, he was a master with the knife.

‘Did he actually go and learn this somewhere lately?’ Natasha wondered.

Then, she heard Jared let out a muffled groan.

“What’s wrong?” Natasha asked.

She whipped her head around to see what had happened.

She was stunned to see that Jared had cut his finger with the knife.

Blood was dripping from his finger.

“Oh my God, you’re bleeding!”

Natasha cried out, her voice trembling with concern.

She rushed over, grabbed his hand, and checked the wound.

She didn’t even realize how worried she’d gotten.

Jared’s gaze softened as he looked at her.

He hadn’t expected her to care so much.

His heart beat a little faster without him even realizing it.

His lips curved into a happy smile.

Natasha stared at his injured finger, leaning in to examine it for a moment.

“Where’s your first aid kit? I’ll disinfect and bandage it up for you,” Natasha said, her voice full of worry.

But Jared stared at her, not saying a word.

He looked like he wanted to devour her right then and there.

Natasha thought, ‘What’s with that look?

‘He’s hurt. Does he still wants to kiss me?’

“Did you even hear me?” Natasha shot him an exasperated look.

‘Seriously, can this guy not act serious for even one second?’ she grumbled inwardly.

“Are you worried about me?” Jared teased, a playful glint in his dark eyes.

Natasha immediately looked away. “Of course not.”

Jared leaned in closer, lips curled in a mischievous smile. “Liar. You totally care about me. You just won’t admit it.”

Natasha’s cheeks flushed hot.

‘Does he have to be so full of himself?’ she thought.

“Go bandage it yourself. I’m not your nurse,” Natasha snapped.

She was about to storm off, still blushing hard.

But Jared grabbed her waist and yanked her right back into his arms.
