Chapter 299 He’s Never Been Married

Chapter 299 He’s Never Been Married

That night, Natasha was completely satisfied with her meal. Jared’s cooking was really good; almost every dish was incredibly delicious. Natasha couldn’t help but keep going back for more. She was so full she could barely move.

When Natasha pulled the last piece of fish from the bone, she was reluctant to eat it. Jared’s Honey Mustard Glazed Fish was so delicious that she couldn’t get enough. It was juicy without being greasy, fresh, and tender. The flavor was out of this world.

“Jared, your cooking just keeps getting better. Seriously, a man like you, handsome, wealthy, able to shine in public, and good at cooking, whoever marries you is bound to be very happy,” Natasha said, genuinely impressed.

She was so full and happy that she had no defenses left. She just said whatever popped into her head, but the moment she finished speaking, regret hit her. But it was already too late to take them back.

She kicked herself for just blurting out whatever popped into her head. Her brain hadn’t even caught up before her mouth ran off. Things got a little awkward. Natasha wished she could take back what she had said. Thankfully, Jared didn’t respond to his words.

He was probably shocked she could actually say something like that. ‘What I’ve just said could be a confession; Natasha thought. Her cheeks were burning, and she couldn’t even look at him. She was worried that Jared might misunderstand.

Therefore, she just stuck out her tongue, trying to play it off as if nothing had happened. She then kept her head low, focusing on eating, hoping to distract herself from the awkwardness.

Of course, Jared heard her. He caught every single word she said. She had just straight-up complimented him right there. And even said any woman who married him was bound to be very happy. Jared felt a rush of happiness inside. ‘Looks like she’s into me too, he thought.

“Well then, why not you consider marrying me?” Jared said, his tone playful but with a hint of seriousness.

Natasha swiftly popped the last piece of fish into her mouth, thinking of clearing the table and making her escape. But then, out of nowhere, Jared dropped that line. She froze. Her hands paused, still clutching her plates and cutlery.

She raised her eyes to look at him, puzzled. “Consider what?”

Jared fixed his gaze on her. “Didn’t you just say any woman who marries is bound to be happy? So, how about you consider marrying me?”

Natasha’s eyes went wide in shock. The plates and cutlery dropped from her hands onto the floor. There was a crisp “bang” as they hit. She stared at him, frozen in shock for a long moment, unable to react.

“You… You’re joking, aren’t you?” Natasha asked, her lips quivering in disbelief.

“Do look like I’m joking with you?” Jared shot back, his gaze intense and unfathomable.

Natasha nodded right away. ‘He’s talking about marriage out of nowhere; how could this not be a joke?’ Natasha thought, still in disbelief.

Jared stared at her, his good-looking face dead serious. She had never seen him like this before. “I never joke about stuff like this; ever,” he said.

Natasha blinked, trying to process what she just heard. Looking at Jared, who looked utterly serious, she felt unreal, as if she were in a dream. ‘Wait a minute, is this… His way of proposing?’ she thought, her mind in a whirl.

Jared’s tall figure loomed over her, looking down at her condescendingly. His eyes, deep like an abyss, fixed intently on hers as he said, word by word, “I want to date you with marriage in mind.”

Natasha’s mind went completely blank. Her expression was a picture of utter disbelief. ‘Marriage?’ she thought, her mind spinning.

She remembered when he had pursued her before; he had asked her to be his girlfriend, and she had turned him down. She didn’t expect him to still think about marrying her. ‘Isn’t this a joke?’ she thought.

Natasha was stunned for a long moment before she finally said, “You should know… I’ve already been married once, right?” Even if it were her first marriage, she wouldn’t dare believe Jared would marry her, not to mention she was a divorcée now.

Natasha felt as if she were dreaming. Her first instinct was that Jared must have lost his mind, or he was drunk. But he clearly hadn’t had a drop of alcohol tonight.

“I know.” Jared nodded.

Natasha was even more stunned. “I’m divorced, but you ever waned; you’re a first-timer,” she couldn’t help but remind him.

If they were both divorced, it would actually make more sense to Natasha. But that’s not how it was. They were on totally, different levels; moreover, she was divorced. She couldn’t believe Jared was actually thinking about marrying her.

“So what?” Jared raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed. To him, it wasn’t even a problem. First marriage, second marriage, they were just formality. What mattered was whether they were right for each other, whether there was genuine love between them.

He knew exactly how he felt about her. He would go through hell and back for her. Now it was all up to her. “You do mind that I’ve never been married before?” he asked.

Natasha blinked, then shook her head. ‘Of course, I don’t mind if he’s never been married, she thought. ‘Shouldn’t I be the one asking if he cares that I’m divorced?’ she wondered.

But before she could even get the words out, Jared had already answered for her. “Since you don’t mind that I’ve never been married, I don’t mind that you’ve been married before,” he said softly, looking right at her.

Natasha was at a loss for words, feeling grateful to him.’ Seeing Natasha didn’t respond, he pressed on, trying to calm her nerves. “I’m truly serious about marrying you. If you think I’m just saying it, we can start applying for a marriage license tomorrow,” he said, looking her straight in the eye.

His words again shocked Natasha. ‘Applying for a marriage license? Tomorrow? That’s insanely fast,’ she thought. haven’ t even made up my mind about marrying you yet. And you’re already talking about applying for the marriage license.’

“Isn’t this… a bit too fast?” Natasha said, rubbing her temples.

Her poor heart couldn’t take it. They were clearly just friends with benefits earlier. And now, in one leap, they were suddenly talking about becoming husband and wife. She hadn’t even considered being an ordinary couple with him, let alone becoming his wife.
