Chapter 304 No Future Together
Chapter 304 No Future Together
Natasha’s heart skipped a beat. She never thought he’d figure this out, too.
‘Is he getting nervous now?’ she wondered. ‘He’s already about to marry Timothea, and he’s still chasing after me? Who’s he trying to fool with this performance?’
“No, just go now!” Natasha urged. She wanted nothing more to do with him.
‘Am I supposed to wait until he marries someone from a matching family and then become the lover?’ she thought bitterly.
“Your friend’s still outside. Are you really going to make me walk out in this state?” Jared shot back.
Natasha gave him a confused look. But when her gaze dropped to his waist, it all clicked.
“You!” she snapped. Her eyes widened, filled with fury and frustration.
“Just stay here for a while, I’ll go out first,” Natasha said. She didn’t dare stay in the same room with him/any longer. She. was afraid Jared would pull something on her again.
‘He’s been acting like he can’t control himself lately, no matter where or when. Is he just not satisfied?’ she thought.
‘Isn’t he almost engaged already?’ Natasha thought. ‘Is Timothea not keeping him satisfied?’ Natasha quickly got up and washed up.
When she came out of the bathroom, Jared was already gone. She opened the door, and Dorothy immediately came over.
“Why did Mr. Rundell leave so fast? Is he all show and no go?” Dorothy teased.
Natasha shot her a look. “What are you talking about?”
Dorothy grinned. “Come on, wasn’t he only in your room for a couple of minutes? Out that fast? Seriously?”
Natasha tapped her forehead, exasperated. “What are you imagining? Nothing happened between Jared and me, alright?”
Dorothy narrowed her eyes, clearly skeptical. “Really? Nothing at all?”
Under Dorothy’s suspicious gaze, Natasha blushed without even realizing it, feeling a bit flustered.
Dorothy seemed to catch on and gave her a knowing smirk. “Looks like something did happen, huh?” Dorothy teased.
Natasha shot her a flustered pout. “Aren’t you hungry? I’m starving.” She quickly changed the subject.
Actually, something did happen between her and Jared in the bedroom just now. They didn’t sleep together, but they did kiss, and it was pretty intense.
Dorothy caught up to Natasha with a grin. “Nat, I really think Mr. Rundell is sincere about you…”
Natasha’s steps faltered for a moment. ‘Whether he’s genuine or just pretending, does it really make a difference?’ she thought. ‘We’re never going to be together, no matter what.’
Dorothy nudged her arm again. “Why don’t you consider him?”
Natasha didn’t even hesitate. “I can’t.”
Dorothy looked confused. “Why can’t you?”
Natasha had suffered so much in her life. Her dad didn’t give a damn, and her mom couldn’t care less. She even married a man who cheated on her with her own sister. Life had already dealt Natasha a pretty lousy hand.
Now, after everything she’d been through, things were finally turning around; she’d even caught the eye of a big shot. That was the kind of luck most people could only dream of, and she was turning it down.
Natasha’s eyes grew distant. “It’s hopeless between us.”
Dorothy disagreed. “How can you be so sure if you never give it a shot?”
Natasha gave a bitter smile. “Sometimes, you don’t need to go through it yourself to know how it’ll turn out. You can just
tell.”
She told Dorothy about Jared and Timothea being set up for a matchmaking meeting.
Dorothy couldn’t help but question it. “That’s just Percy’s side of the story! I bet he’s just bitter that after you divorced him, you caught the eye of someone even richer and more powerful. He’s just trying to stir up trouble.”
Natasha replied, “Even if Percy is just trying to stir things un it’s only a matter of time before Jared and Timothea get engaged.” She was well aware of the reality.

Natasha dropped her eyes. “Let’s be real, I’m just sue meymate vauyner nobody cares about; no power, no love, nothing. Thinking I could ever marry a guy like Jared? That’s pure fantasy. Being his side chick is probably more realistic. Is

that what you want for me?”
Dorothy shook her head without even thinking. Of course, she didn’t want Natasha to end up as Jared’s side chick
Dorothy used to think love could conquer anything, and she thought Natasha would actually get to marry Jared in the end But reality showed she hadn’t really thought things through.
Dorothy patted Natasha’s shoulder, comforting her. “Hey, if things don’t work out with Jared, there’ll be other men, sooner or later, you’ll find the one who’s really meant for you!”
Natasha’s eyes dimmed. “I hope so.”
However, she wasn’t chasing after fate or love anymore. If it happened, great. If not, that was fine too. She just wanted to
focus on herself and to make the most of her own life.
Natasha was having breakfast with Dorothy when her phone suddenly rang. She walked over to answer it
Sandra’s voice came through, sharp and commanding. “Natasha Whittier, you’re coming back to the Whittier family tonight.”
Natasha’s expression tensed. Ever since she was a kid, her mom only used her full name when she was truly angry. That was when she’d drop the sweet facade and get tough.
‘What could make mom so mad that she can’t even be bothered to fake it anymore?’ Natasha wondered.
“I’ve already made myself clear,” Natasha replied coolly.
There was no way she was going back to help out at Whittier Group. Unless her father was actually willing to give her five percent of Whittier Group’s shares.
Anyone with half a brain could see that was never going to happen. Not even her mother, Joelle, or Collin had those shares. Why would he ever hand them over to her, the illegitimate daughter he barely even acknowledged? But what Sandra said next totally blindsided Natasha.
