Chapter 309 It Is Him?
Natasha fought back her tears. She glanced toward her phone at the sound.
Jared’s name flashed on the screen. For a moment, hope flickered in her eyes. With trembling fingers, she reached for the phone.
“You resigned. Where are you now?” Jared’s voice came through the phone, familiar and full of concern.
Jared hadn’t wanted to bother her again. But when Nicolas told him she’d officially resigned, he couldn’t help but worry about her.
Of course, he was prepared for her to ignore him this time. Sure enough, Natasha didn’t answer him for a long time.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to. She realized she couldn’t utter a single sound, as if something were blocking her throat Not a single word came out.
On Jared’s end, he couldn’t tell if Natasha was really ignoring him or if something else was wrong. “Natasha?” Jared called softly.
He spoke her name again, his tone gentle and full of concern. But still, there was only silence.
Natasha parted her lips, trying to speak, but not a single sound escaped. She wept in anguish and desperation, tears spilling down her cheeks.
‘So she’s really made up her mind to join Whittier Group and completely cut ties with me?’ Jared thought, his heart aching! as a bitter smile crept onto his lips.
Just when he was about to hang up in disappointment, the driver suddenly snapped in his native dialect, “You bitch, don’t you dare try calling for help!”
If there was one thing Jared understood, it was that dialect. And in that moment, he knew something was seriously off.
Even if Natasha had rejected him before, she wouldn’t have answered the call just to stay silent on purpose. Now, it seemed pretty clear that something bad had happened to her.
Jared’s heart clenched tight. He was at a complete loss, his mind in chaos. He knew Harley was always looking for ways to strike at him where it hurt.
And when he convinced Bernard to give Natasha that five percent stake, he’d just exposed his weak spot to Harley all over
again.
Sweat trickled down Jared’s forehead. He kept calling her name, his voice trembling with worry. “Natasha?” he called out, his breath coming in uneven gasps.
There was only silence from Natasha. All he could hear was the driver ranting and spitting curses in his native language, the angry words crackling through the phone nonstop.
And beneath it all, there was a barely audible sound of someone crying. Jared felt his heart nearly freeze in his chest.
Suddenly, the line went dead with a harsh click. Jared’s face was grim and serious.
Without a second thought, he grabbed his phone and dialed a number. “Find out exactly where Natasha is, right now,” he ordered, his voice sharp and urgent.
When Natasha woke up, her head felt like it weighed a ton.
Her nose was hit with an acrid, stinging odor. She slowly opened her eyes. The light in front of her was strangely scattered, with everything blurring together.
It took a long moment before her mind finally cleared. She remembered getting into a shady car before she passed out.’ Could it be… I was kidnapped?’ Natasha thought, her heart pounding in her chest.
She jolted awake, her mind snapping back to reality. As she sat up, her head was still spinning. She rubbed her forehead and looked around.
To her shock, she realized she was on a king-sized bed. ‘How did this happen?’ Natasha thought, her mind reeling. She could hardly believe her own eyes.
If she’d really been kidnapped, shouldn’t she be in some abandoned warehouse or maybe dumped in the middle of nowhere?
‘Why am I on a big bed?’ Natasha thought, dist
