An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 32

Chapter 32 He’s Not Her Boyfriend

“Stop fussing” Jared said softly as he tried to calm her down. Then he turned to the doctor. “Go ahead and stitch it Then he turned to the. “Stitch her up.”

Natasha’s temple twitched immediately. “No stitches,” she said quickly. “Doctor, can you just give me some medicine instead?”

Natasha had always been extremely sensitive to pain.

Ever since she was little, she would choose medicine over injections whenever possible. Stitches were completely out of the question.

“That kind of wound can’t heal with medicine alone,” the ER doctor said with a chuckle, trying to reassure her. “Don’t be scared, Miss. Your boyfriend is right here with you.”

Boyfriend? Jared? Natasha knew the doctor had misunderstood and was just about to explain.

But the doctor continued, “It’s normal to act a little spoiled in front of your boyfriend.”

Hearing this, Natasha was beyond speechless. She muttered, This doctor seriously can’t read the room.

Not only has he mistaken my boss for my boyfriend, he even thinks I’m pretending to be afraid of pain just to act cute in front of him.

Seriously, I really am terrified of pain and stitches, alright?”

“Doctor, he’s not. Natasha opened her mouth to explain.

Before she could finish, the doctor had already injected the anesthetic.

Then he began disinfecting the wound and preparing the sutures.

Natasha stared at the doctor’s hands without blinking. The moment she realized what he was doing, she was so frightened she couldn’t say another word.

When the stitching actually began, every nerve in her body tightened. Her back stiffened, and cold sweat formed on her forehead.

Just as the needle for the first stitch touched her skin, her vision suddenly went dark.

A hand reached from behind and covered her eyes. For a brief moment, time seemed to stop. Even the air felt still.

A faint scent drifted from Jared’s sleeve, something uniquely his. It flooded Natasha’s senses instantly and spread through her body along with the warmth of his palm.

Natasha’s mind went blank for a moment.

By the time she came back to her senses, the stitching was already finished.

Jared had removed his hand as well, though the warmth he left behind hadn’t completely faded.

Two seconds later, Natasha finally realized that all three stitches on her foot had already been done.

The doctor was sitting at the computer writing the medical order. He suggested that she stay in the hospital for

observation for one day and gave her a series of instructions.

After leaving the emergency room, Jared didn’t use the wheelchair the nurse had brought over.

Instead, he carried her to a room in the inpatient ward.

It was already very late at night. Inside the VIP room, only Natasha and Jared were there.

Natasha lay on the hospital bed and looked at the man sitting beside her. For some reason, she suddenly felt uncomfortable.

“Mr. Rundell, Natasha said, “I’m really fine now. You should head back and get some rest. Sorry for taking up so much of your time tonight.”

Natasha sounded extremely polite, but Jared could clearly hear the distance in her tone.

‘Is she really trying to send me away?’ Jared wondered, feeling instinctively displeased.

He thought, ‘After all, I saved her tonight, personally driven her to the hospital, and taken care of everything along the way. She hasn’t even properly thanked me.

‘Now that she’s all stitched up and comfy in her hospital bed, and she doesn’t need me anymore, is she really just going to kick me out like that?

‘Wow, this woman really knows how to use someone and then just toss them aside.’

“So now that you’ve used me, you’re kicking me out?” Jared suddenly stood up and looked down at her coldly

Natasha forced a small smile. “I just don’t want to take up more of your valuable time.”

She thought, ‘After all, given our current boss and employee relationship, the fact that he has already brought me to the hospital is more than enough.

‘How can I dare expect a CEO to stay all night in the hospital for a small assistant?’

Natasha thought she was being considerate enough. ‘So why does it seem like Mr. Rundell is even more unhappy?’

“What if I want to stay?” Jared looked at her seriously.

Natasha froze, her expression briefly stunned. ‘What does he mean by that?

‘Is he actually willing to stay and watch over me? Since when has Mr. Rundell been this considerate toward employees?

“Well… that might not be very appropriate,” Natasha said awkwardly. “I’m a… married woman.”

The moment Jared heard the words “married woman,” his brows tightened into a deep knot. A wave of anger rose in his chest.

‘Why does she keep stressing that she’s married? What exactly is she trying to remind me of?’ Jared wondered, feeling a sting of bitterness.

“Call your husband,” Jared ordered coldly.

Natasha blinked in surprise. “What?”

Jared’s eyes were dark and firm. His tone left no room for argument. “Call your husband. When he gets here, I’ll leave.”

Natasha looked at him in shock. ‘Is he seriously planning to stick around until someone else comes to watch over me?

‘Honestly, I never thought he’d actually care about me.’

But instinctively, Natasha didn’t want to make that call to Percy.

Ever since they got married, the two of them had basically lived separate lives.

Whenever she got sick or had a headache, Natasha handled it herself. She took medicine or came to the hospital alone. She had never once bothered Percy.

Not to mention that recently Joelle had been neglected by her new husband right after the wedding. Percy was too busy feeling sorry for the woman he truly loved.

Natasha thought bitterly, ‘How can he possibly spare time to deal with my problems?’

Natasha knew very well that she didn’t have the kind of importance that would make Percy rush over the moment she

called.

Seeing the hesitation in her eyes, Jared asked, his gaze deepened, “What, you don’t want to call your husband? Did you two have a fight?”

“No.” Natasha shook her head quickly and tried to come up with an excuse. “It’s already really låte. It’s the middle of the night. He’s probably asleep.”

Jared clearly didn’t buy that. He scoffed. “You’re injured and hospitalized, and your husband can still sleep?”

Jared thought, ‘As her husband, coming to the hospital to take care of her at a time like this is the most natural thing in the world, right?

‘Unless their marriage have serious problems, or the man is simply irresponsible.

‘Otherwise, how can he leave his wife alone in the hospital without even asking?’

“Mr. Rundell, you should head back first,” Natasha replied. “Tomorrow morning when it’s light out, I’ll call my husband and ask him to come take care of me. Don’t worry.”
