An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 345

Chapter 345

Natasha quickly grabbed her phone and called Jared.

She needed to ask him directly.

But no matter how many times she dialed, he didn’t answer any of her calls.

She wondered if Jared was too busy to pick up.

Just as Natasha was about to leave him a message, her father’s secretary walked up to her.

“Natasha, Mr. Whittier wants to see you,” the secretary said.

The first thing Natasha saw when she stepped into the Whittier Group chairman’s office was her father, Bernard, smiling a her.

It was the triumphant grin of someone whose scheme had worked. Bernard and Harley’s plan had worked. They had used her and achieved their goal.

To Natasha, that smile was so glaring it made her uncomfortable.

“I knew I was right about you. I’m so proud of you,” Bernard looked at Natasha with newfound admiration and praised her with a smile.

He never expected Natasha to pull something like this off.

Even Jared ended up willingly walking right into their trap for her.

‘Guess even heroes can’t resist a beauty. Turns out Natasha actually came in handy! Bernard thought, smiling inwardly with self-satisfaction.

Natasha knew why her father was praising her.

It felt like it had been over ten years since her father last praised her.

He hadn’t praised her in so long that she’d stopped expecting or hoping for it a long time ago.

“So this is all it takes to make you proud of me,” Natasha said, a sarcastic smirk curling on her lips.

“Just because I’m still of use and the Whittier family can still profit from me, he’s proud of me?” she scoffed inwardly.

Back when she married Percy, Bernard couldn’t care less about her.

The Whittier family just saw her as useless at that time.

Turns out, what Dad has always valued is never me as his daughter, but only whether I can bring benefits to the Whittier family, Natasha thought, feeling bitter.

“You did great this time. You didn’t let me down. At the next board meeting, I’ll recommend you for an executive position at Whittier Group,” Bernard said, clearly pleased.

Natasha shot back without hesitation, “No need.”

Bernard was stunned. “What did you say?”

He figured Natasha would be thrilled to get promoted to upper management so quickly.

He never imagined she’d actually refuse.

Natasha met her father’s gaze and firmly repeated, “I said, there’s no need.”

This deal between Whittier Group and Rundell Group wasn’t something she pushed for at all.

Actually, she was against it from the very beginning.

Even though Jared had signed the contract just like her dad wanted, she couldn’t take credit for it.

Natasha really didn’t want to claim any achievement that came from betraying Jared.

Bernard sneered as he reminded her, “Even if you didn’t want to use Jared, you still did. You need to be smart about it. Whittier Group owes everything to Harley’s backing.

“Sooner or later, you and Jared will be on opposite sides. You might as well make the most of him while he’s still got a thing for you, and help Harley out as much as you can.”

Natasha didn’t say a word, her hands instinctively curling into fists.

She didn’t want to be their pawn in the fight against Jared.

Yet even though she never wanted to, she had already been used by them all the same.

That was exactly why her father was so happy.

‘So, Natasha thought, ‘I might as well accept it.

A cold glint flashed in her eyes.

She fixed Bernard with a chilly stare and said, “I don’t need a promotion. But I’m the one who made this happen, not Joelle.

“If you want to reward me, why not punish Joelle instead? That would really show how fair and strict you are with rewards and punishments, wouldn’t it, Dad?”

Bernard’s face stiffened for a moment.

For a second, he couldn’t even find a response.

He knew full well Joelle had sent people to hurt Natasha in that underground warehouse.

But Natasha had been bullied by Joelle for as long as he could remember.

He’d always just turned a blind eye and never intervened.

But this time, Natasha had really come through for Whittier Group

Joelle and Natasha had been battling it out for the Rundell Group contract.

Now that Joelle had lost, he couldn’t just keep ignoring things like before.

It’s only right to teach Joelle a small lesson, Bernard thought.

“You can get back to your work now. I know what needs to be done,” he said, waving Natasha off with obvious impatience.

When it came to actually punishing Joelle, his precious daughter, Bernard couldn’t bring himself to do it, no matter what.

Natasha turned and walked out without a moment’s hesitation.

Back at her desk, Natasha pulled out her phone.

She saw several missed calls, all from Jared.

She’d set her phone to silent before going to see her father, so of course she missed his calls.

Jared had even sent her a message. [Miss me?]

He’s actually still in the mood to flirt with me right now?’ Natasha thought, feeling both annoyed and amused.

She quickly typed back. [Jared, did you sign that contract?]

Jared replied. [Yeah.]

Natasha asked. [How did you get your hands on that contract?]

Jared replied. [I stole it from your bag.]

Of course, Natasha thought, not the least bit surprised.

She really didn’t know what to say to him anymore.

Worried, she quickly typed. [Don’t you know that contract is a trap?]

Jared replied calmly. [I know.]

Natasha was so exasperated that she could practically cough up blood.

[You knew it was a trap and you still signed it?] Natasha texted back, completely incredulous.

Jared replied, [It’s for you.]

‘Of course, I know he did it all for me. But the sacrifice he made for me this time is too great. How could I ever repay him for this kindness?’ Natasha thought, feeling overwhelmed.

Natasha didn’t reply for a while.

Jared was the first to break the silence, texting to reassure her gently. [Don’t worry, I can handle it.]

Natasha felt incredibly guilty. [I’m sorry. It’s my fault you got dragged into this.]

She knew all too well. If it hadn’t been for her, Jared would never have signed that contract.
