Chapter 44 Sister’s Husband
Chapter 44 Sister’s Husband
“Let’s talk,” Percy said, his expression serious.
Natasha blinked in surprise. “About what?”
‘He’s showing up in my room at this hour instead of sleeping. What could he possibly want to talk about?’ she wondered
Percy’s eyes were unusually intense. “Are you close with your boss?”
Natasha paused, surprised again.
‘Out of the blue, why is he suddenly talking about Jared?’ she wondered.
“We’re just colleagues,” she replied flatly.
Percy fixed her with a deep, intense stare. “I remember telling you before. Now that you’re married, you should really keep your distance from other guys.”
Natasha’s lips twitched.
‘Who gave him the right to lecture me?’ she thought.
“You should be telling yourself that,” she shot back.
She mentally rolled her eyes.
‘Honestly, which one of us is actually not keeping their distance from the opposite sex?’ Natasha thought.
Percy was caught off guard.
He shot her an annoyed glare. N
Just as he was about to say something else, Natasha cut him off, clearly annoyed. “Sorry, I want to sleep. Could you leave?”
Percy’s expression darkened again.
He couldn’t believe Natasha was actually kicking him out.
He thought, ‘We have been married for over a year. Hasn’t she always wanted me to stay in her room?’
Now that he was finally here, she was acting like she couldn’t care less about him.
Percy felt a sudden pang in his chest.
‘Since when did she start drawing a line between us?’ he wondered.
Natasha turned her back to him after saying that.
“Please don’t just barge into my room anymore,” she said coldly.
That was exactly what he’d told her before.
Now, she was using his own words to remind him.
Percy instinctively clenched his fists.
His brows furrowed without him even realizing it.
The next morning, while Natasha was washing up, she suddenly noticed her left ear felt empty.
She was missing an earring.
She distinctly remembered it was still there when she left the riding club yesterday.
‘Did I lose it in Jared’s luxury car?’ she wondered.
It was a crescent-shaped earring, one of her absolute favorites.
She’d scrimped and saved for months to finally afford it.
Natasha couldn’t bear the thought of losing it.
Once she arrived at work, she knocked on the door to Jared’s office.
Jared was bent over his desk, poring over some documents.
Today, he was dressed in a bespoke black suit, a black shirt underneath, and a royal blue striped tie.
His profile was all sharp angles, cold, handsome, and impossibly striking.
He radiated that intimidating, boss-level authority and chill.

“Got something to say?” Jared asked, his tone cool.
She was still hesitating, but Jared spoke up before she could say anything.
Natasha hurried over to his desk. “Mr. Rundell, I think I might’ve dropped an earring in your car last night Did you happen to see a crescent-shaped sapphire one?”
The image of the crescent earring he found in his car last night flashed through Jared’s mind.
‘Of course, it’s hers, he thought.
But he said, “Didn’t see anything.”
Natasha looked visibly bummed, her disappointment written all over her face.
But she pressed on, “Do you mind if I take a look in your car? This earring is really important to me!”
Jared set down his pen.
He looked up, locking eyes with her, his gaze unwavering. “How important is it?”
Natasha paused, caught off guard.
She thought, ‘Is that really the point?
‘Forget it.’
She explained, “I’ve always loved this earring. I saved up for months just to buy it!”
Jared’s eyes narrowed a bit. “You bought it yourself?”
Natasha nodded right away. “Yeah, so what?”
‘Does he think someone else gave it to me if I didn’t buy it myself?’ she thought.
Jared locked eyes with her for a few seconds. “Once the meeting’s over, I’ll let you check my car.”
Natasha’s face instantly brightened. “Awesome, thank you, Mr. Rundell!”
Her smile lit up her face like a spring flower, so stunning and radiant that it made him pause for a moment.
Jared was momentarily dazed.
He felt a little jolt in his chest, like something had just bumped his heart.
He cleared his throat.
He forced himself to look away. “That’s all, you may leave now.”
He was afraid that if she kept smiling at him like that, he might just lose control and not let her leave.
“Yes, Mr. Rundell!” Natasha didn’t bother with his sudden chilly attitude.
She turned and walked out of the CEO’s office, her mood bright and cheerful.
By the time Jared wrapped up his meeting, it was already lunchtime.
Natasha took the elevator down first and headed over to wait by his car.
But before Natasha even made it to the underground parking lot, out of the blue, someone landed a harsh slap right across her face.
She was completely unprepared, her head snapped to the side from the force.
The stinging pain left her mind totally blank for a few seconds.
Joelle’s furious, jealous voice exploded in Natasha’s ear. “Natasha, you bitch! How dare you hit on your brother-in-law?”
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Natasha pressed her hand to the cheek that had just been slapped and turned to look.
Joelle’s face was contorted with rage, as if she wanted to rip Natasha to shreds right then and there.
“I didn’t…” Natasha protested, instinctively trying to defend herself.
But before she could finish, Joelle threw some photos right at her.
“Don’t act innocent, if you didn’t want to get caught, you shouldn’t have done it! You really thought I wouldn’t catch you flirting with my husband?” Joelle snapped.
Natasha picked up the photos and took a look.
They were pictures of her chatting with Nicolas at the riding club yesterday.

But all they were doing in the photos was smiling and saying hi, Natasha honestly didn’t see anything wrong with that
