An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50 Drugged

Chapter 50 Drugged

Jared’s dark, piercing eyes were fixed on Natasha, never wavering for a second.

His gaze was utterly focused, as if nothing could distract him.

It was as though everyone else in the room had simply ceased to exist.

In Jared’s eyes, Natasha was the only person there.

Natasha’s mind was a total blank.

‘Is he really going to come over to me with everyone watching?’ she wondered.

Even though she felt it was impossible, seeing Jared’s intense gaze made her heart skip a beat.

Everyone around them parted to let Jared through.

He came toward her, one step at a time.

His deep, mesmerizing eyes were like whirlpools, drawing her in, impossible to escape.

Natasha stood stiff as a board, her mind blank, not knowing what to do at all.

Dorothy, right beside her, was so excited and surprised that she kept pinching Natasha’s arm. “Girl, Mr. Rundell might really be into you! The way he’s looking at you right now is totally different…”

After hearing Dorothy say that, Natasha was even more lost, she had no clue how to even say hi to Jared now.

But at the same time, Natasha felt a wave of uncertainty wash over her, she couldn’t figure out what was going on.

‘I’m a married woman, after all. If Jared really has feelings for me, does he really need to be this obvious about it?’ she thought, feeling even more bewildered.

Just then, a woman’s voice called out from behind them, “Jared!”

A woman in a bright emerald dress rushed straight toward Jared.

“Hey, isn’t that Miss Hopkins ?” someone whispered.

“Word is, she came back just to get engaged to Mr. Rundell,” another person said.

“So Miss Hopkins is Mr. Rundell’s fiancée?” someone else blurted out.

Whispers and gossip rippled through the crowd.

Natasha watched as Lizzie walked right up to Jared, slipped her arm through his, and flashed him a dazzling smile.

Everything suddenly clicked for Natasha.

She thought, ‘So Jared wasn’t coming for me after all.

‘He was actually heading straight for Lizzie, who was standing right behind me.

‘I totally misread the situation.

‘Seriously? I actually thought Mr. Rundell was walking over to me with everyone watching?’

She was instantly embarrassed, her cheeks burned with regret.

She thought, ‘Thank goodness I didn’t try to greet him.

‘If I’d acted like he was coming for me in front of the whole company, I’d never live it down!’

“Oh, so Mr. Rundell was actually heading for Miss Hopkins? I got all excited for nothing. I really thought he was into you,” Dorothy sighed, clearly disappointed.

Natasha shot her friend a look. “As if.”

She thought, ‘Jared’s way out of my league, why would someone like him ever notice me?

‘I can’t believe how ridiculous I was just now.’

“Hey, doesn’t Miss Hopkins’s dress tonight look almost identical to the one she gave you before?” Dorothy quickly picked up on something odd.

Natasha looked over at Lizzie.

She frowned, unable to help herself. “It’s not just similar it’s literally the same dress!”

Successfully unlocked!

Both dresses were a striking emerald green, with a peacock feather motif

But the vibe was totally different depending on who wore it. Natasha and Lizzie gave off completely opposite feelings.

Chapter 50 Drugged

On Natasha, the dress was seductive, sexy, and downright stunning.

But Lizzie was the real deal, an heiress and the queen of the social scene.

On her, the same dress exuded elegance and a touch of arrogance.

She really did look like a peacock, strutting with pride.

But honestly, standing next to Jared, who was just as regal and distinguished, she seemed like a perfect match for him.

Together, they looked like a match made in heaven.

Dorothy breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness you didn’t wear that peacock dress today, if you’d shown up in the same outfit as Mr. Rundell’s fiancée, that would’ve been a total disaster!”

Something odd flashed in Natasha’s eyes.

Back then, she and Dorothy had picked out their dresses just for this victory party.

Lizzie had given her that peacock dress for no apparent reason, clearly figuring Natasha would wear it to the event.

But tonight, Lizzie showed up in the exact same dress.

‘What is she up to?’ Natasha wondered, feeling completely baffled.

If Natasha had actually worn that peacock dress tonight, everyone would’ve thought she was deliberately trying to challenge Lizzie.

Natasha couldn’t help but question, ‘Did Lizzie do this on purpose, or was it just a coincidence?

‘But I’ve never had any beef with her, why would she want to set me up?’

Just as Natasha was deep in thought, she noticed Jared’s intense gaze suddenly fixed on her.

For a brief moment, their eyes locked.

But before Lizzie realized Jared was looking at Natasha, she broke eye contact just in time.

“I’m going to the bathroom,” Natasha said, her voice a bit unsteady.

She quickly turned and made her way out.

But just as Natasha was about to leave, Lizzie called out after her, “Ms. Whittier!”

Natasha froze, and she had to turn around, even though she really didn’t want to.

Lizzie, still clinging to Jared’s arm, came right up to her. “Ms. Whittier, it really is you! I didn’t expect to see you here. What are you doing at this party?”

“Hi, Miss Hopkins. I’m Mr. Rundell’s assistant,” Natasha answered, her voice steady and confident.

Lizzie feigned surprise, acting all bubbly. “So you’re Jared’s assistant? Wow, what are the odds!”

Natasha could feel Jared’s hot, unwavering gaze locked onto her, his eyes never left her for a second.

But she didn’t want Lizzie to get the wrong idea, and she definitely didn’t want anyone at the company thinking she was after Jared.

She didn’t dare glance at him again, just made some small talk with Lizzie, then slipped away to the bathroom.

As she stepped out, a shadow suddenly flashed before her eyes, someone appeared out of nowhere.

It was her former boss, Frank Hammers.

“Well, I never thought you’d actually know Mr. Rundell’s fiancée, Miss Hopkins,” Frank remarked, a hint of skepticism in his voice.

Natasha arched her brow, her tone cool. “And what does that matter?”

Frank motioned to a waiter, took two glasses of wine from the tray, and handed one to Natasha.

“Back when you worked for me, I might’ve crossed you a few times. Hope you don’t take it to heart,” he said, trying to sound casual.

Natasha let out a cold laugh. “Mr. Hammers, you’re making too much of it.”

Natasha felt that he must have noticed how Lizzie went out of her way to call Natasha over and chat with her.

Now, he probably figured Natasha was pretty close with Lizzie, so he came over to patch things up and play nice.

“You know, I was just doing whatever Roxanne told me to, had no say in it,” Frank said, looking all helpless.

He put on his most sincere face, though Natasha could tell he was totally faking it. “Let me toast you. Come on, don’t take

it personally. Maybe you could say something nice about me to Mr. Rundell and Miss Hopkins sometime?”
