Chapter 60 100 Million Dollars?
Natasha jerked her hand away, not wanting to talk to Percy anymore.
“Don’t forget to sign the agreement,” she said coldly.
She wasn’t afraid of anything anymore.
Everything that happened to her was because of them.
When disappointment reached its peak, anyone would risk it all, ready to leave everything behind and start fresh.
Natasha didn’t return to her room. Instead, she stormed out of the house without looking back.
For the first time ever, she left Percy behind, slamming the door in his face as she went.
The night was as cold and silent as ice.
Natasha walked alone down the street.
A gust of night wind brushed past her, sending a sharp chill through her body.
But even that was nothing compared to the frost in her heart.
Natasha thought bitterly, ‘Just because I’m Sandra’s daughter, does that mean I have to let Joelle walk all over me?
‘Even if I give it my all to fight back, it wouldn’t matter.
‘Even my mother and husband are taking Joelle’s side.
‘Since when did everyone around me become Joelle’s allies?’
Everyone had stopped caring about her feelings and her needs long ago.
She felt that maybe she should’ve had the courage to break free from all this a long time ago and finally start living for herself, instead of always living in Joelle’s shadow, always being pushed around and dismissed by her family.
Out of nowhere, her phone started ringing.
Derek was calling her.
“Ms. Whittier, where are you?” Derek asked.
“I’m home,” Natasha replied.
Derek sounded really worried. “Mr. Rundell refused to take his meds all day. He’s been even more impossible since you left. Nobody even wants to get close to him. Can you come back and try to calm him down?”
Natasha asked, a hint of sarcasm in her voice, “Doesn’t he already have someone else looking after him?”
Derek replied, “You mean Sharon? She’s his sister, but she’s super busy. She dropped by earlier to check on him, but she had several surgeries lined up, so she couldn’t stick around.”
Natasha paused, momentarily taken aback.
Natasha thought, ‘So the classy woman I saw with Jared at the hospital earlier today, the one I thought was his lover, was actually his sister?
‘I totally mistook her for someone he was involved with and ended up bolting out of there.
‘But even if that wasn’t the case, it is already so late. Just the two of us alone in a hospital room at this hour? That just feels off.
“It’s already so late. I’ll check on him tomorrow instead,” Natasha said.
But Derek suddenly said, “Mr. Rundell woke up, didn’t see you, and ended up taking a fall.”
Natasha’s eyes widened in surprise.
‘Jared actually fell?’ she thought, a jolt of worry shooting through her.
Derek urged her again, “Ms. Whittier, please, could you come to the hospital and check on Mr. Rundell? Just make sure he takes his meds before you leave.”
Reluctantly, Natasha agreed.
She’d just had a huge fight with Percy, so there was no way she was going home tonight.
She might as well go check on Jared at the hospital.
After all, if he hadn’t helped Collin out so much before. Otherwise, Collin wouldn’t have stood up for her at Whittier Manor

last time.
With her status in the Whittier family, she would’ve already faced the family’s punishment by now
And that time Joelle and Roxanne drugged her, if it hadn’t been for Jared, she would’ve been at their mercy
Natasha thought, ‘After everything Jared’s done for me, I owe him more than I could ever repay.
‘Now that he’s hurt, there’s no way I could just walk away and pretend I don’t care. That would make me the worst kind of ingrate.’
Natasha rushed to Jared’s hospital room.
She had no idea how bad things were. After hearing he’d taken a fall, she was bracing herself for the worst
But when she walked in, he was propped up against the headboard, looking like nothing had happened at all.
Natasha walked up to his bedside, looking puzzled. “I heard you fell. Are you hurt?”
Jared fixed his deep, shadowed gaze on her. “Where have you been?”
Natasha paused, caught off guard.
‘Do I really owe him an explanation about where I’ve been?’ she thought, a bit annoyed.
She was his assistant, not his servant or anything.
She was here because she cared, not because she had to.
But seeing him bandaged up like that, Natasha didn’t feel like arguing with him anymore.
“I just went home,” she replied.
If she hadn’t heard about his fall, she wouldn’t have bothered coming to the hospital this late.
Jared’s eyes, dark as midnight, fixed on her. “Have you been crying?”
Natasha’s heart just gave a jolt.
She hadn’t expected Jared’s gaze to be so sharp.
He saw right away that she’d been crying.
‘Like I’d ever admit that to him; Natasha thought.
“Of course not!” Natasha blurted out, a little too fast.
She hurried to change the subject, fumbling for something else to say. “You haven’t taken your meds yet, right? Hurry up and take them.”
After saying that, Natasha grabbed the bottles from the nightstand, popped out a few pills of each, and gathered them in her palm.
She held her hand out to Jared again, offering him the meds.
Jared kept his lips pressed in a thin, stubborn line, saying nothing, just staring straight at her.
He didn’t even spare the pills in her hand a single glance, completely ignoring them.
It was obvious to Jared. He could see right away that she’d been crying.
A sudden wave of pain and anger surged in Jared’s chest for no reason.
‘Who the hell would dare hurt her like this?’ he thought, his jaw clenched tight.
But right now, he wasn’t in any position to question her about it.
“Don’t tell me you’re chicken about taking your meds,” Natasha teased, trying to prod him when he just sat there doing nothing.
Jared glared at her, looked like he wanted to say something, but held back.
After a moment, he mumbled awkwardly, “I hate how bitter they taste.”
Natasha snorted with laughter.
‘Guess even the almighty Mr. Rundell has something he’s afraid of, she thought, amused.
“Seriously? You can’t handle a little bitterness? Should I grab you a lollipop to help you out?” Natasha joked, grinning.
Jared’s expression turned stormy in an instant. “I dare you to try,” he warned, his voice low.
Natasha opened her palm in front of him. “Here, take your meds. The best medicine always tastes bitter.”

Jared locked eyes with her for a moment, his gaze lingering.
Finally, he grabbed the water and pills from her, threw them back, and downed them all at once.
His handsome face contorted with pain. Jared couldn’t help but grimace at the bitter taste.
Natasha had never seen him so flustered before. She couldn’t help but burst out laughing again.
She was even tempted to pull out her phone and snap a photo, just so she’d have something to tease him with later
“Get out!” Jared barked furiously.
With her mission to get him to take his meds finally done, Natasha couldn’t wait to get out of there.
