Chapter 59 Divorce Papers
Natasha hung up the phone and was about to leave.
“Ms. Whittier, has Mr. Rundell taken his medicine yet?” Derek asked as he walked over.
Natasha shook her head automatically. “Not yet…”
Before Derek could say anything else, Natasha cut him off. “But he’s got someone looking after him now, so I should head back…”
She thought, ‘The classy woman who just walked into his room seemed pretty close to Jared.
‘Looks like he doesn’t need me anymore.’
“Hey, Ms. Whittier…” Derek called out.
But before Derek could ask what was going on, Natasha had already turned and walked away.
In the VIP suite, Sharon finished bandaging Jared’s wound.
Sharon asked, “Have you figured out what really happened? Are you seriously telling me this was just an accident?
Sharon thought, ‘I don’t believe for a second that things could be this coincidental/
‘My brother just went to inspect the construction site, and something falls from above and hits him? That can’t just be a random accident.
‘Didn’t anyone bother with safety checks at the site before?’
“It wasn’t an accident. Someone orchestrated this,” Jared said, his handsome face suddenly growing serious as he glanced at Sharon.
“Who?” Sharon’s heart skipped a beat.
“Uncle Harley,” Jared answered bluntly, making no effort to hide the truth from her,
Sharon’s brows furrowed instantly.
She gritted her teeth in frustration. “I knew he was behind this! He just can’t stand the thought of giving up the family’s power. He still wants to control the Rundell Group!”
Back when their father, Howard Rundell, was badly hurt in a car accident, Jared was abroad and couldn’t return.
So the board had no choice but to let Harley take over the Rundell Group for the time being.
Since Howard never recovered, Harley used the opportunity to gather his own supporters and tighten his grip on the
company.
But Sharon never would have guessed that Harley would actually go so far as to try to kill Jared.
“We’re all family, how could Harley be this ruthless? There’s no way I’m letting this go. I have to tell Grandma,” Sharon said anxiously, unable to swallow her anger.
“Grandma’s getting old, and after everything that happened with Dad, she’s already been through enough. Let’s not upset her with this right now,” Jared said, reaching out to stop his sister.
Sharon let out a heavy sigh. “You’re right. Grandma’s not young anymore, she might not be able to take it. Besides, she’s always doted on Harley. She might not even believe us, no matter what we say.”
Jared’s gaze darkened. “Harley’s been scheming for years. Without solid evidence, we can’t bring him down, worse, we might just alert him.”
Sharon narrowed her eyes. “He’s been plotting that long? You think Dad’s accident wasn’t just an accident?”
Jared said, “I’ve got people investigating already. Whatever the truth is, one thing’s for sure. He always wanted Mom for himself.”
Sharon clenched her fists. “If it wasn’t for him, Mom wouldn’t have forgotten so much about the past…”
Natasha had just walked in when she saw Percy sitting on the couch, looking pissed off.
As soon as he saw her, he marched over and snapped, “Did you hit Joelle?”
Natasha shot him a mocking look.
‘So that’s why he bothered coming home tonight, to give me hell about this, she thought.

“So what if I did? She…” Natasha shot back, refusing to back down.
She thought, ‘Joelle’s hit me before, it’s not like I’m the only one throwing punches. But whenever Joelle went after me, Percy never bothered to defend me.
‘Yet the second I slapped Joelle, Percy immediately came after me for answers.
‘Seriously, who’s actually his wife here?
Before Natasha could finish, Percy seized her arm.
There was a loud thud.
He shoved her hard against the wall behind her
He’d never been this rough with her before.
Natasha needed a moment to recover, the ache still throbbing as she steadied herself.
She looked up and met Percy’s face, handsome, but twisted with anger, like a storm about to erupt.
Since their wedding, Percy had always treated her with nothing but cold indifference.
Most days, he barely spoke to her at all.
Tonight was the first time he’d ever blown up at her like this.
And of course, it was all because of Joelle.
Percy grabbed her chin hard and snapped angrily. “Why did you hit her? Natasha, how dare you raise your hand against Joelle?”
‘How dare I?’ Natasha thought with a bitter sneer.
Natasha let out a cold laugh.
In Percy’s mind, she was never allowed to fight back.
Joelle had Bernard, Roxanne, and Sandra backing her up in the Whittier family.
Even Percy was always on Joelle’s side.
‘Did she suddenly grow a backbone or something? How could she ever dare to go up against Joelle?’ Percy thought.
Natasha, unable to hold back her fury, slapped him hard across the face.
“She drugged your wife, and now you’re mad I didn’t let her get her way? Do you wish I’d let her make a fool out of you?” she spat, her voice shaking with rage.
She couldn’t stop herself from trembling, her whole body shaking with rage.
As her husband, Percy should be demanding answers from Joelle, not from her.
Yet here he was, turning the tables and interrogating her instead.
‘Is he mad I didn’t let Joelle ruin me? Does he want that humiliation so badly, just so he can play the fool for everyone to see?’ Natasha thought, her anger boiling over.
Percy’s head snapped to the side from the force of her slap.
He stood there, stunned for a moment.
He turned back to her, looking at her in shock. “What did you just say? Joelle drugged you? How could she possibly do something like that? Isn’t this just some kind of misunderstanding?”
Natasha felt so sick she almost threw up.
She thought, ‘So in his mind, Joelle drugging me is just some harmless misunderstanding.
‘But the moment I hit Joelle, suddenly I’m the worst person alive.
‘Does he really have to take Joelle’s side over his own wife, and not even bother to hide it?
‘Is he that desperate for everyone to see just how much he adores Joelle?
Natasha gave him a mocking glare. “If you think it’s just a misunderstanding, why don’t you go ask the police and see what they say?”
She pushed him away and went to leave.
But Percy grabbed her arm and yanked her back.
He frowned, staring at her in disbelief. “What do you mean? Did you really call the police?”
Natasha gave a cold laugh. “Shouldn’t I call the police? Am I just supposed to let it slide?”

Percy looked like he could strangle her. “We’re family! Did you really have to make such a fuss and bring the cops into this over something so minor?”
Natasha’s heart hit rock bottom.
She thought being Percy’s wife meant he’d care about her, even just a little.
