Chapter 69 Punishment Awaits Her

Chapter 69 Punishment Awaits Her

Natasha rushed to the police station.

She saw Percy and Nicolas, both looking bruised and battered.

“What happened?” Natasha asked, hurrying over to Percy.

She reached out to help him up.

But Percy pushed her away, his face twisted in disgust. “Stay out of it!”

A flash of suppressed pain flickered in Natasha’s eyes…

‘Does he really think I want to interfere with his mess?’ Natasha thought.

She was just his wife on paper now.

She just wanted the divorce done quickly, but she still needed him to play along.

She didn’t want to fall out with him right now, so she dragged herself to the police station in the middle of the night just to bail him out.

But all her trouble ended up being for nothing. He didn’t even appreciate it.

Percy acted like Natasha didn’t even exist.

Nicolas, who had just finished his statement, couldn’t take it anymore.

“Percy, what’s your damn attitude? Your wife came here out of kindness to bail you out. Don’t push your luck when someone’s being nice to you!” Nicolas snapped.

Percy clenched his fists, his whole body practically radiating hostility.

“She’s my wife. Who the hell asked you to butt in?” Percy growled.

He spun around and charged at Nicolas, grabbing him by the collar.

“If you’ve got so much energy to spare, why don’t you go home and pay some real attention to Joelle for a change?” Percy snarled.

Nicolas sneered, “Whether I go home or care about Joelle is none of your business!”

Percy’s face twisted with rage. “You!”

His eyes were bloodshot as he raised his fist, about to take another swing at Nicolas.

Natasha hurried over and grabbed his arm to stop him.

She shouted, “Percy, are you out of your mind? We’re at the police station!”

She thought, ‘You just got hauled in for fighting with Nicolas, and now you want to cause more trouble right here? Do you even want to walk out of here tonight?’

“Get lost!” Percy barked, flinging her aside.

Percy forcefully threw her off.

Caught off guard, Natasha hit the floor hard.

Percy’s eyes narrowed for a moment.

He moved to help her, but Nicolas beat him to it.

“Are you okay?” Nicolas asked, his voice full of concern.

Natasha shook her head and shot Percy a look.

Anger bubbled up in her again.

She was close to just walking out and leaving him behind.

Just then, a cop came over and pulled Percy aside for another round of harsh chewing out.

Nicolas helped Natasha to her feet, concern flickering in his deep, eyes.

“Natasha, are you alright?” he asked, his voice gentle.

“I’m fine. Thanks,” Natasha replied, brushing herself off.

She stood up, thanked him, then asked, “Seriously, what happened here tonight?”

Nicolas explained, “I was hanging out with some friends in a VIP room. When I stepped out to use the restroom, Percy just

swung at me out of nowhere. I guess it’s because I’m planning to divorce Joelle.” “Sorry about that,” Natasha said on Percy’s behalf.

Nicolas looked at her, his gaze conflicted. “You don’t have to say sorry for him.”

Natasha smirked. “I’m not apologizing for him.”

She just wanted the divorce to go through without any drama.

!

If this whole thing escalated and Percy really pissed off Nicolas, both the Whittier and Grosso families would be in for a world of trouble.

She’d be caught in the fallout too, and her divorce from Percy would definitely get stalled out.

Percy was getting chewed out by the cop when he caught sight of Nicolas helping Natasha up.

Watching them chat, that uneasy feeling crept back in, twisting in his gut.

Maybe it was his instinct, but Percy couldn’t help but feel that Nicolas was way more into Natasha than he ever was with Joelle.

Natasha followed the officer to handle the bail paperwork.

She paid the fines and covered the damages.

Fortunately, Nicolas dropped the matter out of respect for her and didn’t press charges.

Natasha finally managed to get Percy released.

By the time they left the police station, it was already past midnight.

A light drizzle was falling outside.

The chilly night breeze, together with the drizzle, sent a shiver down her spine.

Natasha headed straight for her car.

Percy called after her, “Don’t let the Whittier or Grosso families hear a word about tonight.”

If the Whittier family found out, it’d only make things worse for Joelle.

If the Grosso family heard about it, he would be screwed.

He was covering his own back, but still made sure to watch out for Joelle.

‘Seriously, what a lovesick fool, Natasha scoffed inwardly.

But she didn’t bother to refuse.

“Yeah, I know,” she replied.

She preferred not to make things more complicated than they already were, so she kept her mouth shut.

Besides, she’d already fallen out with the Whittier family, and once Percy signed those divorce papers, the Grosso family would be out of her life for good.

Percy fixed his gaze on her, not blinking once. “Are you mad?”

Natasha’s face stayed perfectly composed. “No.”

Seeing not a trace of anger on her face, Percy let out a breath, reassured.

“Come on, I’ll take you home,” Percy offered.

“No, I drove myself,” Natasha replied coolly.

She took out her car keys and unlocked her car.

She walked over, opened the driver’s side door, and got in.

She didn’t even bother to ask Percy if he wanted a ride.

For some reason, Percy felt a pang of disappointment deep inside.

After starting her car, Natasha drove over and stopped right in front of him.

A fleeting look of delight flashed across his eyes.

‘I knew it, she’d never leave me behind, Percy thought, a quiet certainty settling in his heart.

But Natasha just reminded him coolly, “Make sure you sign the divorce papers soon. Let’s set a date to go to the City Hall together.”

Without waiting for Percy’s response, she floored it and drove off, leaving him standing there.
