An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74 Separation

Chapter 74 Separation

Jared hadn’t expected Natasha to knock over the water glass, soaking everything down his waist.

His handsome face darkened.

Just as he was about to say something, Natasha reached for his pants and tried to wipe him down.

“What are you doing?” Jared demanded, his voice low and rough.

Jared’s eyes went cold, staring at her in disbelief.

‘Is she really daring to flirt with me in the office, in broad daylight?’ Jared thought, his mind reeling.

He barked at her, his voice hoarse.

Natasha didn’t even notice his mood. She just kept apologizing.

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Rundell. I didn’t mean to,” she said, her voice soft and anxious.

All she wanted was to calm Jared down so she could ask him about the dinner plan that night.

She kept her head down, desperately trying to wipe his pants clean.

Then, an awkward moment unfolded.

Natasha’s eyes widened as she found herself staring at his groin.

Her mind blanked out in an instant.

‘He… Natasha panicked internally, unable to even finish the thought.

Jared froze too.

His gaze became unusually intense.

He knew exactly what was happening to his own body.

‘Did that really just happen?’ Jared thought, his mind spinning.

Jared’s dark eyes were shadowed with gloom.

‘Damn it!’ Jared swore to himself.

He couldn’t believe he was getting so worked up over her.

Natasha quickly snatched her hand back.

Her pale cheeks turned crimson.

She instinctively stepped back.

Natasha awkwardly balled her hands into fists and cleared her throat, trying to hide her embarrassment.

“Sorry, I…” she mumbled, her cheeks burning as she struggled for words.

Natasha thought, ‘I just wanted to keep him from getting angry, so I tried to help clean up.

‘But now I’ve only made things even more awkward.’

Before she could say anything else, Jared suddenly reached out and pulled her close by the waist.

She let out a soft gasp as he pulled her into his arms.

“Ms. Whittier, right in the middle of the day, you still can’t resist flirting with me?” Jared teased, his voice low and playful.

Natasha’s head was buzzing.

Her heart was racing, totally out of control.

She pressed her hand against his chest, trying to keep some distance as she hurried to explain, “I wasn’t…”

“Wasn’t what?” Jared asked, his voice low and teasing.

He leaned in, getting even closer to her.

His hot breath washed over her, making her skin tingle.

A jolt of electricity shot through Natasha’s body.

But she forced herself to stay calm.

“I wasn’t trying to flirt with you, and I wouldn’t even think about crossing the line with you,” Natasha said, her voice shaky as she rushed to explain.

She was desperate to prove she was innocent, hoping Jared would actually believe her.

But she had no idea, her words just killed the mood for Jared, snuffing out whatever fire he’d felt

His handsome face turned even more sour.

It felt like a storm was brewing, and the tension was almost unbearable.

Natasha thought the smartest thing she could do right now was get out of here right away.

But she still hadn’t had a chance to mention what Lizzie had asked her to do.

“So, what brings you to my office?” Jared asked, his deep eyes locked on her, sizing her up.

Natasha lowered her gaze. “I just came to bring you some medicine, and…”

“And what else?” Jared asked, his hand firm on her waist, locking his gaze on her.

For some reason, Natasha’s heart started racing.

She ran her tongue over her lips, nervous.

Taking a deep breath, she finally asked, “Mr. Rundell, are you free tonight?”

Jared paused, surprised.

Jared just stared at her with those dark, unreadable eyes.

Natasha had no clue what he was thinking.

But at least he hadn’t said no.

That meant she still had a shot.

Besides, she sensed that if she didn’t speak up now, she’d lose her chance forever.

She felt a surge of reckless courage, like nothing could stop her now.

Natasha braced herself and pressed a note into his arms.

She said, “If you’re free, meet me at this restaurant at 7:30 tonight…”

Without waiting for his response, she pulled away and walked straight out of his office.

Jared glanced at the note she left, a glint of excitement flashing in his eyes.

His heart started pounding even faster.

Jared thought, ‘Wait, is she asking me out tonight?

‘No wonder she was so nervous just now.

‘So that’s why, she was just shy!’

It all clicked for Jared, and he couldn’t help but feel a surge of happiness.

Natasha ran straight back to her office.

She clutched her chest, gasping for breath.

‘Did I just finish the mission?’ Natasha asked herself, still a little dazed.

It didn’t matter whether Jared would actually go meet Lizzie tonight.

She’d already set up the date for Lizzie.

Whether he actually showed up or not, that was his business, not hers.

Natasha shot Lizzie a quick text.

At noon, she met up with the real estate agent she’d scheduled with last night to check out a place.

Since she’d already decided to divorce Percy, moving out was just a matter of time.

Besides, even though they still lived under the same roof, they were basically living separate lives.

They’d been living like strangers for ages. It was basically a divorce in all but name.

The landlord of the place the agent showed her had just moved overseas.

It was close to her office, tucked away in a quiet spot despite being in a lively area, and the security was top-notch.

Best of all, the place looked brand new. She could move right in.

It was exactly what she was looking for.

Natasha signed the lease on the spot.

Back at the office, Natasha spent the afternoon busy as usual.

She was planning to leave early so she could go home, pack up, and move out.

As she waited for the elevator, she unexpectedly spotted Leigh and a few other secretaries heading out too

Natasha wondered, ‘What’s up with that?

‘Is everyone heading out early tonight or something?’

“Mr. Rundell’s in such a good mood today, he actually gave us an early dismissal,” one of the secretaries said

“When I dropped off his coffee in the executive office, I swear I saw Mr. Rundell grinning to himself,” another added.

“Could it be that Mr. Rundell’s fallen in love?” someone teased.

“Maybe Mr. Rundell has got a hot date tonight, so he’s letting us head home early,” another secretary joked.

Natasha couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow at their chatter.

‘So Jared’s really going to show up tonight?’ Natasha thought, a bit taken aback.

“Ms. Whittier, why are you here?” Derek called out behind her, sounding genuinely surprised.

Natasha blinked and shot back, “Where else am I supposed to be?”
