An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78 Three Days

Chapter 78 Three Days

Natasha thought, ‘Just because Jared’s date went south, he can’t just vent his frustration on me.

I was only helping out of kindness.’

“Maybe,” Natasha replied, her gaze wavering.

Derek said, “It’s getting late. You should head home. I’ll see what I can do to talk to Mr. Rundell for you.”

Natasha thought for a moment, then asked earnestly, “Could you help me with something? I want to access the security footage from outside the CEO’s office from a few days ago.”

Derek instantly got what she meant.

“You still suspect Mr. Mallin?” he asked.

Natasha nodded. “Derek, I’m counting on you.”

Derek wanted to figure out who was behind the leak of the BC Project, too.

“Okay, I’ll give it a shot,” he replied.

That night, Natasha made it back to her new place at Oceanview International.

She finally had a moment to check her phone.

She realized Jared had called her several times last night.

He’d also sent her a few messages, asking where she was.

But she’d been busy moving in and, not wanting Percy to bother her, she just ignored her phone.

She felt that Jared probably couldn’t reach her, so he wasn’t happy about it.

But she couldn’t really ask Lizzie how things went between her and Jared last night.

After all, she was just the one who set them up. What happened between them was none of her business.

But judging by how Jared acted toward her at the office today, it was obvious things hadn’t gone well.

But now that Natasha was practically a suspect in the BC Project leak, she really couldn’t afford to meddle in anyone else’s business.

She lay down on her bed, trying to figure out how to unmask the real culprit behind the BC Project leak and prove her innocence.

Jared didn’t get home until it was already past midnight.

He got out of his car and walked up to his villa.

From a distance, he spotted a slender figure.

As he got closer, he saw it was Lizzie.

“Jared, you’re finally home,” Lizzie called out.

She’d been waiting outside his house for five hours.

She was so exhausted that she almost dozed off on the front steps, only lifting her head when she heard the sound of his car engine.

When she finally saw Jared, her face lit up with instinctive joy.

“What are you doing here?” Jared’s expression turned cold as soon as he saw her.

“I heard something happened at your company…” Lizzie said, her face full of concern.

Jared looked cold and didn’t even glance at her.

He walked straight up to his front door and punched in the code.

Lizzie offered, “Need any help?”

Jared looked irritated as she stood in his way.

“Move!” he snapped.

Lizzie awkwardly stepped aside.

Jared quickly punched in the code, and the villa door swung open.

He strode inside with a cold expression, not inviting Lizzie in, not even bothering to say goodbye.

Lizzie felt utterly crushed.

She’d waited outside his house for hours, yet he didn’t even want to talk to her.

“I’m here to plead for Natasha!” Lizzie blurted.

Desperate, Lizzie dropped Natasha’s name.

Just as she hoped, a flicker of emotion flashed in Jared’s icy, deep-set eyes.

He froze, almost without thinking.

Lizzie saw the flicker in his eyes, and jealousy quickly spread through her, wrapping around her like creeping vines.

But on the outside, she put on a calm face and spoke up for Natasha. “I know what kind of person Natasha is. She would never sell out the company. There has to be some misunderstanding…”

Jared fixed his eyes on her. “You think you really know Natasha?”

Lizzie forced a smile. “We’re friends!”

“Friends?” Jared echoed, sounding unconvinced.

He narrowed his eyes, sizing her up. “I’ve never heard of Lizzie, the city’s top socialite, actually having any friends.”

Lizzie was born into privilege, always proud and a bit snobbish. She looked down on most people and preferred to keep to herself.

Even in her own elite circle, she barely had any friends, let alone making friends with someone like Natasha, who was from a totally different background.

That was almost impossible.

Lizzie hurried to make an excuse, “Natasha and I hit it off right away, I…”

Jared cut her off with a cold snort. “Don’t try to use the people around me as a way to get close to me!”

Lizzie’s face instantly turned pale.

She hadn’t expected that all her petty tricks would be so obvious to him.

“I…” she tried to protest.

But under Jared’s intense, sharp gaze, Lizzie found herself completely speechless.

He warned coldly, “I said everything that needed to be said last night.”

Lizzie felt another jolt run through her.

It felt like he’d just stabbed her right in the heart.

But before she could say anything, Jared had already walked into the villa and shut the door behind him.

He slammed the door in her face, leaving her standing outside.

Lizzie clenched her fists so tightly her nails dug into her palms. She felt utterly humiliated.

She thought, ‘I just want to pursue the man I like. Is that really so wrong?

‘Why does Jared keep turning me down?’

The next day, Natasha got up early and headed to the office.

To her surprise, she ran right into Jared the moment she got to the executive floor.

He was dressed in a sharp black suit, his whole vibe calm and icy, radiating that kind of aura that made him seem like he was on a whole different level, totally out of reach.

When he saw her, his brows drew together. “Why are you still here? Didn’t I tell you not to come back?”

Natasha tilted her chin up, her gaze defiant. “I told you, I’m not leaving until I find out who really leaked the information.”

She wasn’t about to be the scapegoat for something she didn’t do.

“Find out? And how exactly are you planning to do that?” Jared towered over her, his eyes cold and condescending.

Before Natasha could say anything, Derek’s voice suddenly came from behind her.

“I just tried to pull up the security footage from outside the CEO’s office from a few days ago, but someone messed with it,
