Chapter 79 Silencing Witnesses
Chapter 79 Silencing Witnesses
Derek knocked on Natasha’s office door.
He walked in and tried to comfort her. “Don’t blame Mr. Rundell. He was determined to make the BC Project a success, and he was supposed to take over Rundell Group after this was all wrapped up.
“But things blew up unexpectedly, and now, of all people, you’re the main suspect. I can see he’s really struggling with this too.”
Natasha lowered her gaze, and after a moment, she nodded. “I know. If I really blamed him, I wouldn’t be here trying to help find out who did this.”
Derek was a little surprised.
He hadn’t expected her to be so understanding.
“Thank you for understanding. Got any ideas yet?” Derek asked, sounding genuinely worried.
Jared had only given them three days, so they were really pressed for time.
“I need you to help me get the security footage from outside my office,” Natasha said.
Natasha paused, then explained, “I just realized, whether or not Marsh ever went to Jared’s office, the BC Project plan was only handled by Jared and me.
“The copy I kept in my office disappeared without a trace. So whoever leaked the BC Project probably came to my office
and stole it.
“The cameras outside Jared’s office were destroyed, but maybe the one outside mine is still untouched. The culprit might not have had time to tamper with it.”
Derek nodded immediately. “Good point. I’ll get someone on it right away.”
After work, Natasha kept following Marsh.
She’d always suspected there was something shady about him, but she just couldn’t find any proof.
Maybe she’d catch something if she kept tailing him.
As Natasha trailed Marsh out of the building, someone suddenly tapped her on the shoulder. “Natasha!”
It was Dorothy.
Natasha spun around and shot her a quick shushing gesture.
“What’s going on?” Dorothy asked, her face full of confusion and concern.
Natasha gestured toward Marsh ahead and gave Dorothy a meaningful look.
Dorothy immediately understood.
Lately, the office had been buzzing with rumors that Natasha was involved in the BC Project leak.
Dorothy didn’t believe a word of it. She’d wanted to find Natasha and talk to her face-to-face to clear things up.
But she never expected to stumble upon Natasha following Marsh like this.
“I think Mr. Mallin is the one who really leaked the BC Project,” Natasha whispered.
“I’m coming with you. Let’s see what he’s up to,” Dorothy said right away.
They tailed him together.
He was a chubby guy, clutching his briefcase and moving fast, almost like he was trying to outrun something. He looked guilty as hell.
The more Natasha watched, the more suspicious she felt about Marsh. She sped up to stay right behind him.
“Natasha, where do you think Mr. Mallin’s heading? We’ve been trailing him for blocks,” Dorothy gasped, struggling to catch her breath.
Natasha shook her head. “I don’t know either.”
Marsh usually drove to and from work every day.
But today, he suddenly decided to walk instead of drive. Natasha just knew something was wrong.
Now, Marsh was heading down a deserted stretch of road.

‘Deserted?’ Natasha thought.
She scanned her surroundings, suddenly wary.
She could sense danger looming.
“Dorothy, let’s go back,” Natasha said, her voice tense.
Natasha started dragging Dorothy away.
Dorothy hesitated. “We’re leaving already? Are we really not going to keep following him?”
Natasha narrowed her eyes. “I think he’s already noticed us.”
Dorothy froze for a second, then realization dawned on her.
Marsh probably realized they were tailing him and brought them here on purpose.
Dorothy nodded, just about to leave with Natasha.
Suddenly, the roar of a car engine cut through the air.
Dorothy instinctively looked in the direction of the sound.
Suddenly, she saw a black sedan speeding straight toward them.
“Watch out!” Dorothy shouted.
Dorothy instinctively pushed Natasha out of the way.
Natasha stumbled sideways, landing on the pavement.
Then, behind her, she heard a loud crash.
It was the unmistakable thud of something heavy colliding.
When she turned to look, Dorothy had already been struck, sent flying, and tumbling across the pavement.
“Dorothy!” Natasha screamed.
Her cry was sharp with shock.
She froze, her heart pounding in terror.
Natasha rushed over to Dorothy, dropping to her knees beside her.
Dorothy was covered in blood, lying motionless on the ground.
At that moment, Natasha felt her blood run cold, shivering uncontrollably.
“Dorothy, are you okay? Please, stay with me…” Natasha cried out, panic flooding her voice.
Her hands shook as she desperately called out to her friend.
Dorothy spat out blood, struggling to squeeze out a single word. “Run!”
Natasha was momentarily stunned.
She heard the sound of a car engine revving up behind her.
The black sedan that had just sent Dorothy flying was now barreling straight toward her.
The car was so fast that Natasha had no time to dodge.
She shut her eyes tight, waiting for death to hit.
Out of nowhere, just as the black sedan was about to hit her, a Rolls-Royce crashed into it, knocking it off course.
The pain she’d been bracing for never came.
Natasha blinked, confused, and opened her eyes.
Right in front of her, she found herself staring at a pair of polished men’s dress shoes.
Her gaze traveled upward.
Jared’s towering presence suddenly appeared before her.
He stood over her, concern etched in his dark eyes.
“Mr. Rundell, what are you doing here?” Natasha finally managed to speak.
It took her a moment to find her voice.
The next second, Jared wrapped her in his arms.
He held her so tightly that it felt like he never wanted to let go.

She could hardly move, trapped in his embrace.
If he hadn’t shown up in time, Natasha would’ve been dead.
“Let me go. Dorothy…” Natasha gasped, her voice barely audible.
Jared held her so tight she could barely catch her breath, almost suffocating in his embrace.
She squirmed anxiously in his arms, desperate to break free.
