Chapter 85 Pressed Up Against Her
“Mr. Rundell…” Natasha started, her mind racing. She wanted to tell him that she wanted to leave.
Jared cut her off, his tone brooking no argument. “Stay here. I won’t be back for a while.”
Without giving Natasha a chance to say another word, he grabbed Sharon and left.

For nearly a week after that, Natasha didn’t see Jared at all.
She ended up staying at his villa the whole time.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to leave.
It was just that Margot absolutely refused to let her go.
Margot kept insisting that if Natasha left, Jared would definitely make trouble for her.
Natasha had definitely considered reaching out to Jared and explaining everything to him.
But, to her surprise, he just wouldn’t pick up her calls.
She tried texting him, but he didn’t respond either.
Left with no other choice, she contacted Derek and asked him to relay a message to Jared.
But Derek told her, “Mr. Rundell’s gone to Thalruar on business. If you need anything, wait until he’s back.”
Natasha guessed Jared’s sudden trip was probably about the BC Project negotiations, so she figured she’d better not bother him for now.
She kept to herself in Jared’s mansion, only staying in touch with Dorothy.
One night, as Natasha scrolled through Instagram before bed, she suddenly saw a new post from Joelle.
It was a set of photos of Joelle and Percy celebrating Sandra’s birthday together.
Joelle and Percy stood on either side of Sandra, helping her cut the birthday cake.
Sandra was smiling with a joy Natasha had never seen on her before.
Those photos were a slap in the face for Natasha.
She and Percy weren’t even divorced yet.
And now Joelle was right there with Percy, celebrating Sandra’s birthday.
It was like they were the real family now.
The whole thing made her sick to her stomach.
That night, Natasha had a nightmare.
In her dream, Sandra suddenly plunged a knife into her chest, leaving her stunned and terrified.
Sandra glared at her with utter disgust and spat, “Only if you’re gone can Joelle finally be happy.”
“No!” Natasha screamed in her sleep.
Natasha jolted awake from the nightmare, drenched in sweat and her heart racing.
She was drenched in sweat.
Her breathing was rapid and uneven.
It took her a while to realize it had just been a nightmare.
‘But why would I have such a weird dream?’ Natasha wondered.
She’d actually dreamed that Sandra wanted to kill her for Joelle’s sake.
She felt that it probably had something to do with seeing Joelle’s post about celebrating Sandra’s birthday before bed.
After all, Natasha had always been the one by Sandra’s side for her birthdays.
Now that Joelle had taken her place, Natasha couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment, especially since Joelle was celebrating with Percy right there beside her.
After marrying Percy, Natasha had asked him to join her in celebrating Sandra’s birthday, but he never agreed.
Percy always claimed he was too busy, never once agreeing to celebrate with her.
But when Joelle asked, he dropped everything and went along.

Natasha thought, ‘So being busy was just an excuse.
‘As his wife, I could never get him to do anything for me, not even this.
‘I didn’t even have enough pull to get Percy to celebrate my mom’s birthday with me.’
Natasha could only find it painfully absurd.
It felt like she didn’t belong at all, like Sandra and Percy had no use for her.
They probably wished Joelle was the one in her place, as their daughter and wife.
The more she thought about it, the more hurt and furious she became.
She couldn’t sleep at all after that.
She got out of bed to grab some water.
But she noticed she’d already finished all the water in her room.
Even the thermos was empty.
So, she had no choice but to open her door and head downstairs for a refill.
It was late at night, and the whole villa was completely dark.
Natasha didn’t bother turning on the lights, just made her way down the stairs by the moonlight streaming in through the
windows.
As she passed the living room, she caught a faint whiff of tobacco in the air.
She didn’t think much of it and kept heading toward the kitchen.
“Still up?” A familiar, magnetic male voice suddenly broke the silence, making Natasha jump.
Natasha thought, ‘Jared is back?’
“Just woke up and came down for some water!” Natasha explained quickly.
Her face was full of surprise as she asked, “When did you get back?”
Jared leaned back on the couch and stayed silent for a long moment.
Honestly, he never went on any business trip.
He just had Derek tell her he was off in Thalruar, all to trick her into staying here.
These past few days, Jared always waited until Natasha was fast asleep before sneaking back home.
He’d slip out again before she woke up in the morning.
So Natasha hadn’t seen him at all.
She completely believed what Derek told her.
She genuinely thought Jared had left the country.
Tonight, he’d gotten home late after a work event.
Jared had gone to Natasha’s room to look in on her.
She was still fast asleep.
After seeing her, his heart was racing.
His whole body was tense and aching.
It took every bit of willpower he had not to make a move on her.
But once he left her room, there was no way he could sleep.
He sat on the couch in the living room, smoking one cigarette after another, trying to calm the burning desire inside him.
He was trying to ease the restless heat burning inside him.
Jared had lost track of time, chain-smoking on the couch.
He was snapped out of his haze by the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs.
He could tell in a heartbeat it was her.
In that moment, the fire he’d been desperately holding back roared back to life inside him.
He gripped the edge of the couch so hard his knuckles turned white.
The veins on the back of his hands bulged.

Natasha noticed Jared hadn’t answered her, but she just shrugged it off.
Instead, she headed to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and grabbed a bottle of ice-cold water.
She’d just twisted the cap off when a big, well-defined hand suddenly reached out.
She barely had time to react before the bottle of ice-cold water was snatched right out of her hand.
She froze, stunned.
She turned, searching for the man behind her.
Jared had appeared in the kitchen out of nowhere.
The moment Natasha looked at him, Jared suddenly stepped forward and pressed his broad chest against her slender
