Chapter 90 Takes Care of Her Himself
Chapter 90 Takes Care of Her Himself
Natasha gave Percy a frosty look.
If this had happened before, she might have felt like she couldn’t breathe from Percy’s words.
But now, nothing he said could faze her anymore.
“Don’t you know why I ended up at the station?” she retorted, her voice icy.
Percy pressed his lips together, remaining silent.
As soon as he heard Joelle had been taken to the station, he rushed over to get her out.
Percy knew Joelle wouldn’t want anyone else in the Whittier family to find out, so it was up to him to take care of it.
He’d known Joelle for so long that whenever she got into trouble, he was always the one cleaning up after her. Percy had gotten used to it long ago.
When he bumped into Natasha, his first instinct was to think she was the one who dragged Joelle into this mess.
He immediately lashed out at her, putting all the blame on her shoulders.
Natasha didn’t even bother explaining herself to him.
She didn’t even have the strength to be angry with him anymore.
“Go on in. Joelle’s still waiting for you,” Natasha said.
She was utterly disappointed in Percy.
And she had stopped hoping for anything from him long ago.
Percy gave her a lingering look.
Natasha’s face had been pale ever since the incident, and now she looked even more worn out than before.
For a moment, Percy’s heart ached for her.
But he quickly shoved that feeling aside.
‘Since when did I start feeling sorry for her? Hasn’t she messed up Joelle’s life enough already?’ Percy caught himself thinking.
With that, he didn’t spare her another glance.
He didn’t even bother to say a word to her. He walked right past Natasha, cold as ice, and headed into the station.
Natasha left the police station with Herbert.
They stopped by a sleek Rolls-Royce.
The back door swung open, and Jared stepped out.
He was tall and broad-shouldered, his presence so commanding that he blocked out most of the sunlight above her.
Natasha froze for a second, completely taken aback.
‘Did he come all the way here just for me?’ she thought.
Before she could even process what was happening, Jared wrapped her in his arms.
Natasha’s instinct told her to push him away.
But somehow, as her eyes began to sting with tears, she didn’t fight it anymore and let herself melt into his embrace.
When someone is gripped by fear, they instinctively search for a safe harbor.
Her husband, Percy, was supposed to be her anchor, the one who made her feel secure.
But Percy’s heart was always with Joelle, and he turned his back on Natasha.
Even though she knew it wasn’t right, at this moment, Jared was the only refuge she had left.
Jared’s familiar presence made her feel safe for reasons she couldn’t explain.
Tears gathered in her eyes, ready to fall, but Natasha blinked them away, refusing to let them spill.
Jared held her tighter.
His big hand gently stroked her soft hair. “It’s okay. It’s all over now.”

Hearing Jared’s gentle words, Natasha’s heart twisted with pain, the ache growing sharper.
‘Why can’t Percy ever treat me this way? I’m his wife, aren’t I?’ she thought, the question burning in her chest.
Jared’s eyes fell on Natasha’s neck and hands, his brows knitting together in concern. “Did you get hurt?” he asked.
Natasha nodded quietly.
The cuts on her hands were from gripping the glass shard she used against Gordon earlier. She’d held it so tightly that it sliced her skin.
The mark on her neck was from when Gordon assaulted her and bit her during the struggle.
The female officer had helped her treat the wounds earlier.
The gauze was still stained with blood, a few red streaks seeping through.
Her pale skin made the blood stand out even more.
Jared helped her into the car, then turned to Herbert, who was still standing there. “Thanks for tonight,” he said.
Herbert shook his head quickly.
“Just doing my job. As long as Ms. Whittier is alright, that’s all that matters,” he replied.
Jared instructed Herbert to stay on top of the case and to report any updates to him right away.
Herbert nodded respectfully, watching as Jared climbed into his Rolls-Royce.
Inside the car, Natasha didn’t say a word, her eyes still red from crying.
Tonight was just too much.
Betrayed by her own sister, almost assaulted, and her husband acted like he didn’t care at all.
She’d been through every kind of fear, panic, and hopelessness imaginable.
She was trembling uncontrollably.
All she could do was hug herself tightly, trying to hold it together.
Jared sighed softly and drew her into his embrace.
Just then, Natasha felt dizzy as soon as she stepped out of the police station.
She knew her strength was completely spent.
Desperately fighting off Gordon’s assault in that private room had nearly drained her dry.
Now, her head was spinning, and she was on the verge of passing out.
Jared wrapped his arms around her, sheltering her in his embrace.
She clung to him as someone lost at sea, desperately grabbing onto the only lifeline she had.
She couldn’t fight it anymore.
Her eyelids grew heavy, and before she knew it, she drifted off into a deep sleep.

By the time Natasha woke up, it was already the next day.
She blinked in surprise at the ornate ceiling overhead.
Then she realized she was in Jared’s mansion.
‘He brought me back here again last night?’ Natasha thought, a bit bewildered.
Natasha tried to sit up, but her body felt like she’d been crushed under a heavy weight, every muscle aching.
She lay there for a bit before the memories of what went down last night started coming back.
All this pain was from desperately fighting off Gordon in that private room.
She pushed herself harder than she ever had in her life, trying to break free over and over, but every time, Gordon pulled her right back.
She was slammed against the coffee table, the wall, the sofa. Her body battered from all sides…
Having made it through alive, Natasha let out a long, relieved breath.
Her whole body felt sticky and gross, making her even more uncomfortable.
She’d wrestled with Gordon for a long time last night, breaking out in a cold sweat.
Her skin was still stained with his blood.

Chapter 90 Takes Care of Her Himself
Natasha was desperate to get out of bed and go to the bathroom to wash off everything from last night.
She gritted her teeth and pushed through the pain to sit up.
Right as she was about to swing her legs off the bed, the bedroom door swung open.
An imposing, tall figure stepped inside.
It was Jared.
He was dressed in a limited-edition gray shirt and tailored dress pants.
The high-end fabric was cut to perfection, highlighting his tall frame with an aloof elegance and unmistakable class.
“You’re awake,” Jared said.
Jared walked over, his deep, big eyes settling on Natasha.
