Natasha flinched, her heart skipping a beat.

She froze on the spot.

‘What’s going on? Is Jared actually downstairs at my building right now? What does he want?’ she wondered.

Natasha walked to the window in disbelief and glanced down.

To her surprise, she did spot a Rolls-Royce parked right outside her building.

But what truly stunned her was Jared’s tall figure, casually leaning against the car.

As if he could sense Natasha watching, Jared suddenly looked up toward her window.

He instinctively glanced upward, almost as if he knew she was there.

The moment Jared spotted Natasha at the window, the icy look on his handsome face faded, replaced by a rare, genuine smile.

He even gave her a friendly wave.

Natasha snapped the curtains shut and spun around, pretending she hadn’t seen him at all.

Natasha thought, ‘I can’t believe this.

‘Jared is downstairs, right outside my building.

‘Why is he here? What does he want?

‘What am I going to do if Percy sees him?’

Even though she and Percy were about to go to City Hall to finalize their divorce, Natasha didn’t want any trouble.

Finally, the day for the divorce had come. But what if Percy thought she was the one who had an affair first and refused to sign the papers?

Natasha was freaking out, pacing back and forth in a panic.

She quickly grabbed her phone and shot Jared a message.

[Why are you here?]

Jared: [I missed you, so I came to see you.]

Natasha thought, ‘He actually said he missed me? Is Mr. Rundell being this obvious now? I haven’t agreed to anything yet.”

Natasha: [You should leave.]

Natasha thought, feeling anxious, ‘Seriously, he should at least get back in the car.

‘Jared is tall and handsome, with sharp features that make him stand out wherever he goes.

‘He is way too noticeable just standing there.

‘People are bound to notice him.

‘If I can see him, Percy will also see him as soon as he pulls the curtains open.’

Jared: [Did you tell him about the divorce?]

Natasha’s eyes went wide.

She thought, ‘Don’t tell me he’s doing this on purpose, so Percy will spot him?

‘Is he seriously trying to speed up my divorce or what?’

Natasha: [This is my business!]

As soon as she sent the message, her phone started ringing.

It was Jared calling.

“Having second thoughts about the divorce?” Jared’s voice was low and clearly annoyed.

Natasha rolled her eyes. “I told you, this is my business.”

She was this close to telling him to mind his own business.

Jared’s voice grew darker. “Trying to juggle two guys at once?”

Natasha shot back without thinking, “I’m not…”

She and Percy had planned to go to City Hall to get their divorce certificate a long time ago.

If the BC Project Plan hadn’t been leaked, and she hadn’t been made the scapegoat, with the real mastermind even trying to kill her to make her take the fall, she wouldn’t have ended up trapped in his villa, unable to go to City Hall with Percy to finalize the divorce.

Jared said, “If you don’t want to get divorced, that’s fine. But then you’ll end up with two husbands.”

Natasha instantly furrowed her brows. “What nonsense are you spouting?”

Natasha thought, ‘Two husbands? Seriously? What is he even talking about?’

‘After I divorce Percy tomorrow, I’ll be back to being single.

‘Even if I say yes to Jared, at most we’ll be lovers.

‘I’ll have zero husbands.’

“What’s so special about your husband? You think I can’t measure up?” Jared sounded super jealous.

Natasha was at her wits’ end.

She thought, ‘Jared is obviously way better than Percy.

‘I have zero attachment to that loser Percy.

‘I’m divorcing him anyway, right?’

Natasha almost blurted out to Jared that she was finally getting divorced tomorrow.

That way, maybe he’d quit hounding her about it.

But at the last second, she swallowed the words back down.

‘No way, Natasha thought. ‘Jared’s been blatantly flirting with me even though he knows I’m married.

‘If he finds out I’m about to get divorced, he’ll totally lose control.

‘He’ll try every trick in the book to get me into his bed.’

“Hurry back, please,” Natasha said, not wanting to argue any further.

She hung up right after.

Then she went straight to the bathroom for a shower, needing to cool off after all that drama.

When she came out, Natasha deliberately cracked the curtain open just a sliver and peeked downstairs.

Jared’s Rolls-Royce was still sitting out front.

Jared was still there, casually leaning against his luxury car.

Natasha couldn’t tell if he’d gone back inside the car or if he’d left altogether.

She dried her hair and settled onto the bed.

Before going to sleep, she glanced at her phone again.

There was a message from Jared, sent right after she hung up.

[Don’t you dare sleep with him, or I’m coming up there.]

He was obviously talking about Percy.

Natasha was speechless.

She thought, ‘Is Jared hanging out downstairs in the middle of the night to keep an eye on me?

‘Is he seriously trying to stop me from sleeping with Percy?

‘But Percy and I are still married, after all.

‘Even if that really happened, what could Jared actually do about it?

‘Besides, Percy will never sleep with me anyway.

‘He is obsessed with Joelle. He wouldn’t even touch me.

‘Jared is making a fuss over nothing.’

Natasha didn’t bother telling him the truth.

If Jared wanted to hang out downstairs all night, let him.

Anyway, she was going to sleep.

Natasha lay down and closed her eyes.

The next morning, when Natasha woke up, Percy was nowhere to be seen.

Natasha had no clue if he’d gotten up before her or slipped out sometime last night.

Either way, it was a relief he wasn’t there.

Seeing him first thing in the morning was the last thing Natasha wanted.

But since the divorce was happening, Natasha figured she’d better settle a few things once and for all.

She planned to give back the wedding ring Percy had given her on their wedding day.

She hadn’t taken it with her when she moved out.
