Chapter 120 The Red Mole
Trevor kept going. “To make me believe her, she said she’d bring me the Orion proposal so I’d win the bid!”
Then, to make it land harder, he pointed at Nora. “On her left breast, up along the swell of it, there’s a small red mole, no bigger than a pinhead. Ask her yourself!”
Mandy was the one who’d told him about that mole. It would wreck her, and it would stop Julian believing
her.
“If you don’t believe me, examine her right now and see whether there’s a red mole on her!7
Every eye in the room went to Nora, and the doubt in them went straight to her left side.
Adrian’s eyes went there too, and heat climbed the back of his neck. He looked away, uncomfortable with himself.
Julian stood up and put himself between Nora and all of it.
She stood too and came shoulder to shoulder with him. “There’s no red mole on me.”
Nora said it without a flicker, and it was hard not to believe her.
Mandy stared at her with hate. “I grew up with you. I can testify that you have a red mole on your left breast. Trevor isn’t lying!”
“Even your sister says so. Denying it won’t help.” Trevor looked at Nora and savored it. “Skin like that and one little red mark on it. It drove me out of my mind. It was my favorite place to ki—”
He didn’t get the rest out. Julian kicked him over. “That’s a lie!”
Trevor went down hard and couldn’t get up, lying there howling, and he still got it out. “I’m not lying. Every word is true.
“You’re her husband. Whether there’s a red mole under her left breast, you’d know better than anyone!”
He drew the next part out into a long sound. “No, wait. You haven’t seen her either. She doesn’t even like you. She’d never let you touch her. You have no idea how pure she looks out here and how filthy she gets in a bed-”
That one he didn’t finish either. Julian’s foot caught him in the mouth, and blood filled it and came out with la tooth.
He put his shoe on Trevor’s face and ground down. “I said there’s nothing there, so there’s nothing there!”
It hurt, and he still forced it out. “She has one. I slept with her back in high school, and I saw… aah…
His face was nearly flattened under Julian’s foot, and he still kept saying it.
The cold coming off him kept everyone back.
Only Olivia wasn’t afraid of him, and she came forward with her voice gentle. “Jules, let me give Nora a full examination. Then, whether there’s a mole or not, and whether anything happened with a condom, all of it

shows up. That’s the fairest way.”
ora laughed out loud at that. “You still can’t say one thing straight. You bring up a condom so Julian will picure me doing it with somebody else.”
Olivia looked wounded. “Nora…”
Nora cut her off. “Don’t stand there pretending with me. I don’t need your examination, because there’s no red mole on me.”
She looked up at Julian. “You check. You don’t even need a room. Do it here.”
Nora walked off to one side and stood with her back to the room.
Julian came over and looked down at her. “There’s no need. I believe you.”
Nora’s eyes were cool and perfectly steady on him. “Check. They won’t believe it otherwise.”
“All right.” His voice came out rough.
Nora had on a cream blouse and a black skirt past her knees, and the whole of it made her look composed and expensive, the kind of woman nobody would dare put a hand on.
Julian stood in front of her and took the bottom of the blouse between his fingers, lifting it a little at a time, until the flat of her stomach showed.
The cold went out of his face all at once and the heat came in, and his breathing turned short and rough.
He couldn’t make himself lift it any higher.
Nora thought he was too slow, took his hand, and pulled the blouse up to her chest herself. “Look properly. Don’t miss anything.”
She moved so fast that Julian caught one full look at the curve of her above the line of her bra, and his heart went so hard it made him dizzy, and for a second he stopped breathing.
Nora saw his face go red as fire and frowned at him. “Can’t you see it? I’ll lift it up, then. Hurry up and look.”
Julian watched her push her left breast up with one hand, took one quick glance, saw nothing but skin, went red, and pulled her blouse straight back down. “There’s no red mole!”
So there was no red mole on Nora after all.
It made even Trevor doubt himself, and he looked over at Mandy.
She gave him the smallest nod.
She’d known about the mole on Nora’s left breast since they were children. It didn’t just stop existing.
