April Fools “Surprise” Husband Divorcing Me For His “Pure” Girl novel Chapter 59

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

I said it simply.

Next Monday. I already booked the flight.”

The air between us went tight and heavy.

Caspian broke the silence.

Thessaly. We need to talk. I can’t stand this anymore. The way we’ve been lately-it’s unbearable.”

I looked at him, genuinely confused.

“What do you mean? What’s wrong?”

He’d always told me to be more understanding. More mature.

Now I was. And he still wasn’t happy?

He rubbed his face, frustrated.

“Is this because of Isolde? Is that why you’re acting like this?”

I didn’t answer.

He bit his lip. Looked at me with something desperate in his eyes.

“If you’re bothered by my relationship with her, I’ll cut her off. I will. For you.”

“But please. Please stop being so… distant. I can’t take it!”

His eyes were pleading, as if he’d just made some grand sacrifice.

I spoke slowly.

You’re overthinking. I’m really not bothered anymore.”

You can be friends with whoever you want. I don’t have the right to control that.”

But inside, I was shocked.

All this time, he could’ve just… ended it with her?

I’d fought with him about Isolde so many times, begged him to set boundaries. Even threatened to leave.

And he’d never once considered cutting her off.

He stared at me, searching my face.

I’m making a huge compromise here. If you don’t believe me, I’ll call her RIGHT NOW.”

He pulled out his phone, dialed Isolde’s number and put it on speaker.

Her voice came through, bright and warm.

“Caspian! Miss me already?”

The words came out so naturally.

Chapter 7

Caspian’s face went red-embarrassed. Panicked.

Isolde. Don’t joke like that.”

She paused, clearly confused. “What? I was just-”

He cut her off.

“Isolde. I think we need to stop talking so much. I’m married. I have a wife. It’s not appropriate.”

Silence on the other end.

“Wait. What? Say that again.”

He took a breath.

“I said we need to stop talking. Do you understand?”

His voice was louder now. Firmer.

Isolde laughed, but it sounded forced.

“Oh. I get it. Your controlling wife got jealous again?”

“Why do you even listen to her? She’s so insecure. Probably doesn’t have any friends of her own, so she’s jealous of ours.”

With every word she said, Caspian’s face darkened.

I wondered how many times they’d talked about me like this behind

my

back.

Caspian snapped, irritation bleeding through his voice.

“Enough. Know your place. Thessaly is my wife. You don’t get to talk about her like that.”

“Don’t contact me anymore. Let’s just end this cleanly.”

He hung up, ignoring Isolde was still calling his name.

His phone kept ringing.

He didn’t answer. He just looked at me, almost pleading.

“See? I cut her off. It’s done.”

“From now on, it’s just us. I’ll stay home. Wait for you to come back. I’ll be good. I promise.”

I froze.

I’d planned to wait until the day I left to bring up divorce.

But maybe I couldn’t wait anymore.

“But I don’t need you to wait. I want a div-”

He covered my mouth with his hand.

I looked up at him.

His eyes were red, brimming with tears.

In the past, I would’ve rushed to wipe them away.
