The crowd goes nuts.

“Only like five people ever got one! A bracelet? There’s literally ONE! That’s not jewelry-that’s history!”

Fiona’s stammering.

“No way’ You’re nobody! Why would you get that? Where’s the proof? We’re supposed to just trust you?!”

I barely glance at her.

“Saw my clothes and thought I was easy. Thought you could make up whatever story you wanted.”

She’s panicking. Turns to Ethan.

“Ethan! We grew up together! You’re really gonna let her do this to me?!”

I’m smiling now. She’s sweating bullets.

“Give it up. Ethan’s drowning too. He can’t help you.”

Ethan’s face goes hard.

“Careful, Vivian. My dad built Blackwood from scratch. He’s a legend here. Your family’s rich? Cool. But what’s that got to do with you?”

My smile gets colder.

“Still threatening me? Still want us all dead?”

“I told you to call your dad like five times. You won’t? I will.”

I look at Harrington.

“Get his dad here. Now.”

Ethan goes white as paper. Shaking.

I copy Fiona’s bratty voice from before.

Thirty minutes. He’s late? Blackwood’s done.”

Everyone freaks out.

“She’s calling the chairman?! They’re screwed!”

Fiona threatened her family like ten minutes ago! She’s dead!”

“My dad shows up, you’re finished.”

I wave him off.

“Question’s not if Blackwood forgives me. It’s if I let Blackwood survive.”

Fiona loses it.

“Bitch! I’ll kill you myself!”

Snaps her fingers. Guards rush in.

“ENOUGH!”

A guy in an expensive suit comes running up. Breathing hard. Stops in front of me.

“Miss Sterling. I’m so sorry. My fault. I screwed up as a dad. I’m sorry.”
