Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1627

Chapter 1627: Months

’Finally!’

Redon clenched his fists with glee as he stared at the massive veil looming in the distance.

’It’s finally time.’

Months had passed since he was defeated by Atticus and had to join their ranks. He had endured in silence, biding his time as more and more of his spirit people were gathered, their numbers swelling into what could now be considered a truly fearsome army.

’And to think... I was actually worried.’

Just a few months ago, he had openly clashed with Atticus during a meeting over his abrupt decision to halt their advance and participate in a competition.

He had lost, and in that moment, Redon had truly feared that his mission would end in failure.

’Just a few more minutes.’

But months ago, after Atticus and the others returned from their journey, they had resumed their ascent through the Span at a speed far surpassing anything they had shown before.

Now, there were mere minutes remaining before the territory’s protection vanished and the veil finally fell.

’And when it does...’

He shifted his gaze toward the summit of the hill, where Atticus and his close retinue stood in silence.

’It will finally end.’

Redon felt a powerful surge of exhilaration course through him at the thought of finally completing his long-awaited mission. And even more intoxicating was the promise of the approval that would follow.

’The king will be pleased.’

Taking slow, measured breaths, he forced himself to calm down, careful not to reveal anything suspicious.

Though Atticus’ bind held no true authority over him or the others, his conduct still mattered.

’I should act now. Thin their numbers while I still can.’

Redon swept his gaze across the army. The number of spirit people had long since entered the billions, and their forms were scattered seamlessly throughout the ranks.

A single thought was all it would take to set them into motion and carve away at their strength from within.

’Yes... this is the right moment.’

’If I do this properly... I’ll prove my worth.’

If the army collapsed into chaos from the sudden betrayal, they would be far less capable of facing the dangers that awaited beyond the veil.

’He’ll see it. He’ll know I didn’t fail him.’

’Hah...’

Redon drew in a deep breath, his resolve fully solidifying.

’Now.’

He pulled his blade free in one fluid motion as his body ignited in blazing light.

"FOR THE KING!"

He roared, preparing to move, but the Eldorians and soldiers around him suddenly vanished.

"Huh?"

Redon frowned deeply as he hurriedly scanned his surroundings.

It wasn’t just those closest to him, but the hundreds of billions of Eldorian soldiers spread across the vast clearing were gone entirely, leaving behind only the purple forms of the spirit soldiers, who, just like Redon, slowly lowered their raised blades in confusion as they struggled to comprehend what had just happened.

"Ugh. Finally. I was starting to think that wait would never end."

"...what?"

A playful voice rang out across the clearing, and Redon’s frown deepened as he turned toward Whisker, who was now staring directly at him, a cold, predatory glint flickering within his eyes.

"I’ve been wanting to rip you apart since the moment we realized you were nothing more than a rat."

"Huh...?"

Redon’s eyes widened. He quickly glanced at the others. It wasn’t just Whisker. Ozeroth, Anorah, and many of the other leaders were all staring at him with cold, merciless eyes.

’No...’

’Not possible...’

’And him...’

As his gaze met Atticus’, he felt as though he had been plunged into freezing water as the realization struck him.

’They knew.’

Hrrrk

The sound of a blade being sheathed rang out, and as he turned, Redon’s expression drained of all color.

"No..."

The billions of spirit soldiers suddenly split apart into countless pieces as blood and gore poured down the hill in a slow, endless crimson cascade.

"No... no... how...?"

His voice trembled as his knees gave out beneath him, and he collapsed, staring at the horrific scene before him with utter disbelief.

Swoosh.

Ozeroth appeared before him in a burst of golden light. His eyes were devoid of warmth as his twin hammers slowly materialized within his grip.

"You... you traitor..."

Redon’s teeth ground together violently as he glared up at Ozeroth with hatred.

"This is all because of you!"

He roared as he forced himself back to his feet, raising his blade and pointing it directly at him.

"If you hadn’t betrayed your people, none of this would’ve happened!"

"..."

Ozeroth said nothing. As his hammers fully formed, he began walking toward him slowly.

"You think this changes anything?! I am a god! A mortal dares stand against me?!"

Redon’s will violently converged along the length of his blade as he swung it toward Ozeroth with everything he had.

’Even if I die... I’ll kill you first.’

Clang!

Redon’s eyes widened in shock as Ozeroth casually knocked the attack aside as though it were nothing.

"How...?"

He was a god. No matter how powerful a mortal became, they should never be capable of opposing him.

"No..."

His shock deepened the moment his eyes caught the dark golden hue lingering at the edge of Ozeroth’s will.

"Y-you’re a go—"
