Chapter 111 Damian’s Dangerous Game

He captured Scarlett’s hand and pressed it firmly against his chest, deliberately guiding her fingers to trace the defined contours of his pectoral muscles.
This wasn’t about demonstrating emotional pain-he was unmistakably making her appreciate his physical conditioning.
The moment her fingertips encountered those hardened ridges, Scarlett instinctively attempted to withdraw her hand. But Damian tightened his grip like an unyielding vise.
Realizing escape was impossible, Scarlett simply lifted her chin and met his gaze directly. Her voice carried sharp-edged clarity. “Really? To how many women have you delivered these exact lines?”
Damian’s brow furrowed momentarily before he responded, “Darling, I’ll be honest with you. I’ve probably said similar things to about twenty women.”
Scarlett made another attempt to reclaim her hand, but his hold only intensified, effectively immobilizing her.
At that moment, Scarlett spotted Nathan emerging from Theron Manor’s main entrance. He stood surveying the surroundings, clearly awaiting her return.
Anxiety surged through Scarlett, her tone turning pleading. “Damian, my brother is waiting for me at the door. If he doesn’t see me soon, he’ll become frantic.”
Damian merely repositioned her hand against his chest, his gaze unwavering. “What about me? If I don’t see you, I’ll perish.”
Scarlett internally rolled her eyes. Was he being serious? A man of Damian’s success probably aspired to live another century, not expire over her absence.
Seeing her skepticism, Damian suddenly proposed, “Scarlett, perhaps I should go greet your brother first?”
Scarlett’s anxiety escalated into sharp irritation. “What exactly do you want from me?”
Damian lifted a finger to twirl a strand of her hair, his grin widening. “Have I ever mentioned that I want to marry you?”
Scarlett closed her eyes briefly before questioning, “And how many women have you said that
to?”
Damian considered this seriously. “If I had to estimate, perhaps fifty?”

Scarlett stared at him intently. “So? What value do you believe your words carry?”

Damian met her gaze with complete seriousness. “But among all those women, you’re the only one I genuinely mean it with.”
Scarlett pushed against him. “Even if you sound utterly sincere, I’m not buying your nonsense.”
Their proximity made every word exchange an intimate sharing of breath, intensifying Scarlett’s discomfort.
Damian showed no offense. He simply maintained her hand’s position against his chest with minimal pressure. Regardless of how she struggled, the distance between them remained unchanged.
When she finally exhausted her efforts, Damian captured her slender wrist, his thumb gently caressing her skin.
Abruptly, Damian stilled. His gaze dropped to Scarlett’s bare arm.
He frowned and inquired, “Where is your bracelet?”
Scarlett blinked, suddenly remembering. “You’re right. Wait here in the car-I’ll go remove it and return it to you.”
Damian’s frown deepened. “Return it? Why? Don’t you like it?”
Scarlett shook her head. “No, it’s just—”
Before she could complete her explanation, Damian interrupted, “I suppose it wasn’t expensive enough. There’s an auction tomorrow. I’ll acquire something even more valuable for you.”
Scarlett panicked. “Damian, don’t-”
She hadn’t even finished saying “don’t do this” before Damian’s expression turned icy. “If you refuse to wear the bracelet, I’ll simply continue sending you increasingly expensive jewelry daily until you finally wear something.”
Seeing his stubborn determination, Scarlett deliberately attempted to provoke him. “It’s not my money being wasted, so I don’t care. Regardless how much you spend, I said I won’t wear any of it, and I won’t.”
Damian merely laughed. “As long as you’re unconcerned. I earn money specifically to spend it on you. If you don’t spend it, what purpose does it serve? I’d gladly give you every cent I possess.”
He concluded by stroking Scarlett’s cheek tenderly.

Damian winced and withdrew his hand. Rather than blowing on it to soothe the sting, he ran his tongue across the back of his hand.
While doing so, he looked up at Scarlett, his eyes twinkling mischievously. “Darling, be gentler next time. I may be resilient and don’t mind you teaching me lessons, but I’d prefer you strike me when we’re, well, in bed. That would be considerably more exciting.”
He laughed openly, making no attempt to conceal the mischief in his expression.
Scarlett glared at him, furious. “You pervert.”
She couldn’t conjure any more severe insults, and truthfully, nothing she might say would likely affect Damian regardless.
But even being called a pervert didn’t bother him in the slightest.
