Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 179

Chapter 179 Corporate Snub

Scarlett was momentarily taken aback before she asked, “Where’s your dad?”

Vanessa replied, “Maria was bleeding. Dad and Sabrina took her to the hospital.”

Hearing this, Scarlett only responded indifferently, “Hmm.”

With that, she was about to hang up.

But then Vanessa suddenly asked, “Mom, do you really hate Sabrina?”

Scarlett didn’t know why her daughter would ask this, but she didn’t see any reason to hide the truth. “Yes,” she said simply.

Vanessa sounded confused. “But Mom, why?”

Scarlett didn’t elaborate much, only saying, “You’ll understand when you’re older.”

Vanessa pressed further, “What about Mr. Huntley? Why does he hate Sabrina? Did you tell him to?”

Scarlett paused, then replied coolly, “If you think so, then that’s it.”

Even if she tried to explain, Vanessa probably wouldn’t believe her

anyway.

Vanessa grew upset, huffing, “Mom, you’re so mean! Is it just because Sabrina can play the piano, she’s pretty, has a good figure, and is studying medicine, that you hate her?”

A sharp, dense pain spread through Scarlett’s chest. She asked, almost amused, “So, is that why you like her so much too? For those reasons?”

Vanessa retorted angrily, “No! It’s because Sabrina is gentler than you, better than you.”

But by now, Scarlett felt numb to it all. She simply said flatly, “As long as you like her.”

With that, she ended the call.

After hanging up, Scarlett sat blankly on the edge of the bed for a while.

Vanessa’s words no longer stirred any emotion in her.

Since she already wanted Sabrina to be her mother, the reasons behind her preference hardly mattered anymore.

Pulling herself together, Scarlett began tidying the room.

After clearing away the petals and gifts, she washed up and went to bed.

The next morning, after getting ready, Scarlett left the Theron Manor.

Her goal was clear-to see Vincent face-to-face and discuss the divorce.

She went directly to his company.

Downstairs in the corporate building, Scarlett called Vincent. He didn’t answer but sent a text instead. “I’m in an external meeting. We’ll talk later.”

Scarlett replied. “Then I’ll wait for you at your company.”

Vincent didn’t respond further. Scarlett sat down in the first-floor lobby and waited quietly.

After about half an hour, the receptionist suddenly perked up, standing with a beaming smile. “Ms. Monroe! You’re here?”

Her face was full of flattery, eyes curved into crescents.

Hearing this, Scarlett looked over and saw Sabrina entering.

“Where’s Vincent?” Sabrina asked as she approached the front desk.

The receptionist replied eagerly, “Mr. Stewart is at an external meeting. But he instructed us long ago that whenever you come, if he’s not here, you can wait in his office. Let me take you up right now.”

Sabrina smiled gently. “Thank you for the trouble.”

The receptionist quickly waved it off. “No need for formalities with us, Ms. Monroe. Just let us know what you need.”

Sabrina nodded with an “Hmm” and said nothing more.

The receptionist then escorted her to the CEO’s private elevator.

Scarlett watched everything unfold, an inexplicable bitterness settling in her heart.

In all her years of marriage to Vincent, she had hardly ever visited his company.

Yet Sabrina was already treated like the lady of the house here.

She was the legal wife, yet none of Vincent’s friends or subordinates acknowledged her.

Instead, everyone showed respect and deference to Sabrina,

It spoke volumes about how much Vincent truly valued her.

Only because he cared would his inner circle extend such courtesy to Sabrina.

After waiting another half hour or so, the sound of a car horn finally echoed from outside.

Vincent walked in, surrounded by a group of associates. Spotting him return, Scarlett quickly stood up.

Abbott, walking beside Vincent, noticed Scarlett first and quietly alerted him, “Mr. Stewart, it’s Mrs. Stewart.”

Hearing this, Vincent glanced toward where Scarlett stood. His brow furrowed’slightly.

He hadn’t seen the message where Scarlett said she’d wait at his company, so her presence came as a surprise.

As he approached, he stopped, a hint of displeasure in his tone. “What are you doing here?”

Scarlett caught a subtle undercurrent of meaning in his voice-hinting she was someone who shouldn’t be here, someone whose presence might embarrass him.

Even so, Scarlett no longer cared. She simply said, “There’s something we need to discuss privately.”

With so many people around, she avoided explicitly mentioning the divorce.

Vincent wasn’t sure what she wanted to say, but he was indeed busy. “I have a meeting upstairs. Wait for me for a bit.”

Scarlett frowned, “How long?”

Vincent thought for a moment before answering, “Half an hour.”
