Luke’s mind was reeling, a complete mess.

Seeing him silent and frozen, Vincent stepped around him, moving toward the exit.

But Luke quickly called after him. “Vincent, what’s wrong with her? With Scarlett?”

Vincent frowned and looked back. “Why do you ask?”

Luke didn’t answer. Instead, he glanced helplessly at Naomi.

After a tense moment, Naomi gritted her teeth and stepped out from behind Luke.

She offered Vincent a sweet, practiced smile. “Hello, Vincent.”

Vincent studied her face. It looked familiar, but he couldn’t immediately place her.

He gave a curt nod. “Hello.”

Then it came back to him—she was the woman who had “accidentally” spilled wine on Scarlett at the charity gala, the one Damian had publicly humiliated.

And now she was here with Luke.

Vincent’s gaze

shifted coldly from Naomi back to Luke. “And who exactly is this beside you?”

“She’s… a friend,” Luke said.

As he spoke, Naomi turned to look at him, her eyes holding a meaning Vincent recognized all too well.

He didn’t bother sparing her feelings. “A friend? Is that what we’re calling it now?”

Luke was taken aback. “What do you

mean?”

Vincent kept his voice low but firm. “This ‘friend‘ of yours deliberately targeted my wife. Think carefully–can you really stay friends with someone like that?”

Luke stood stunned, thrown by Vincent’s sudden protectiveness toward Scarlett.

He had acted boldly because he believed Vincent didn’t care. But now…

Sensing the shift, Naomi quickly interjected, “Vincent, I think there’s a misunderstanding. That day at the gala, spilling the wine was truly an accident.”

Vincent ignored her, his eyes fixed on Luke. “You’ll have to choose. Your sister–in–law, or your ‘friend“.”

With that, he stepped past them and headed for the door.

The thought of Scarlett alone in the hospital tugged at him relentlessly.

Even after everything–even after the abortion–he couldn’t just leave her there.

As Vincent moved away, Luke and Naomi exchanged panicked looks.

Luke was visibly trembling; Naomi looked on the verge of collapse.

Just as Vincent reached the entrance, Sabrina walked in from the cold night.

A light winter mist clung to her coat.

They saw each other at the same moment and both stopped.

Sabrina’s face lit up with a warm smile. She moved forward and took his arm. “Vincent, where are you going?”

Looking at her smiling face, Vincent managed a faint smile in return. “Daniel and Harris are in the VIP lounge. Go join them. I have something I need to do.”

Sabrina’s smile wavered. “But Vincent… Vanessa has been asking for you.”

Since the day of the field trip, Vincent had barely seen his daughter.

It wasn’t just busyness, nor was it deliberate avoidance–Scarlett’s decision to terminate the pregnancy had been weighing on him, and he’d stayed away from Ravenshade Villa.

Xavier was there too, and he’s constant disappointment over the lost grandchild had become exhausting. Every visit meant another round of quiet disapproval.

It was easier not to go back.
