He smiled back, but before either of them could say anything else, Thomas piped up. "Since the results aren't out yet, you two should get out and have some fun. Once they're released, you'll be swamped—won't have time for anything."

He glanced between them, then added with a knowing smile, "I've got two lift tickets someone gave me for the slopes. I'm too old for that kind of thing now, but you're young. You should take them, go enjoy yourselves."

Nolan appreciated Thomas' obvious attempt to play matchmaker, but he was more worried that being so forward might make Scarlett uncomfortable. So he turned to look at her, though his words were directed at Thomas. "I'm game either way, but it's up to Scarlett."

Scarlett met his gaze and smiled. "Today or tomorrow works for me. I've got something important to handle early the day after tomorrow."

She didn't specify what—didn't mention that she'd be finalizing her divorce.

Hearing her agree, Thomas shot Nolan a quick, pleased look. "Well? Say yes already, then come by my office and grab the tickets!"

Nolan's cheeks flushed slightly as he smiled. "Thank you, Professor."

The meal wrapped up shortly after.

Thomas, clearly eager not to cut into their plans, finished eating in a hurry.

He stood up promptly. "Come on, let's head to my office."

He grabbed his coat and made for the exit.

Scarlett and Nolan exchanged a glance, then followed him out.

Leaving meant walking past Damian's table.
