Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 569

Vincent gave her an answer, but Scarlett had already stopped hoping.

Sometimes, the more you let yourself hope, the harder the fall.

She didn't want to ask anything else. Didn't even want to hear his voice anymore.

So she hung up. Quietly. Without another word.

Lily stood nearby, watching Scarlett with a stunned expression. Confusion flickered in her eyes.

When Scarlett noticed the worry there, she forced a weak smile. "Lily, you know how my marriage to Vincent has been. His heart was never really mine. For us, this ending—it's for the best."

Lily blinked, not knowing what to say.

She couldn't argue with that.

Still, she stayed a little longer. Tried to offer Scarlett some food.

But Scarlett resisted. Just a little.

Lily understood. It wasn't about the food. It was about who sent it.

"Mrs. Stewart," Lily said softly, "I made this myself. He didn't touch any of it. You can be upset with him, but I just wanted to do something nice for you. Please don't push me away too."

Scarlett looked at her for a long moment. Then, reluctantly, she let Lily feed her.

Lily didn't stay long after that. She still had to get back and pack Vanessa's things.

As she was gathering the containers, Scarlett hesitated, then spoke. "Lily... about Vanessa..."

Lily paused. "What about her?"

Scarlett wanted to ask. Wanted to know how Vanessa was acting, what she'd said. But the words caught in her throat.

Even if she knew, what difference would it make?

She had a feeling—strong and certain—that Vanessa had pushed her on purpose that day. And she'd seen something in Vanessa's eyes. Something cold.

After a long pause, Scarlett just shook her head. "Never mind. You should go. Be careful on your way back."

Lily noticed the hesitation but didn't press. If Scarlett didn't want to talk, it wasn't her place to push.

That morning, Scarlett only had one bag of antibiotics to get through.

When it was done, she went to the bathroom, came back, and tried to sleep.

But as soon as she lay down, sleep wouldn't come.
