Once Bianca walked off, Scarlett turned back to Damian. "We should head back too."

Without a word, Damian pushed the wheelchair into the elevator.

The elevator was empty. Damian watched Scarlett's reflection on the polished wall—she hadn't said a thing, but her expression was serious.

After a few seconds of silence, he couldn't help himself. "I did threaten her."

Scarlett's face didn't change. She just replied quietly, "Mm."

That threw him. "You're not mad?"

She smiled. "You didn't do anything wrong. Why would I be?"

Hearing that, the smile on Damian's face deepened. He stepped around from behind the wheelchair, crouched down in front of her, and placed his hands over hers where they rested on her knees.

He looked at her, eyes warm and playful. "What's this? Starting to look out for me now?"

Scarlett turned her face away, refusing to meet his gaze. "No, I'm not."

It wasn't about looking out for him—she'd already figured Vanessa was probably stirring up trouble on purpose.

Seeing her look away, Damian leaned in and brushed a soft kiss against the corner of her lips.

Right then, the elevator doors slid open with a ding.

Startled, Scarlett tried to push him back, but he didn't budge. He just looked at her, amusement flickering in his eyes. "It's not like it's our first kiss. Why do you still blush like it is?"

His voice wasn't particularly loud, but it wasn't quiet either—loud enough for anyone nearby to hear.

Standing outside the elevator were Nolan and Sean, apparently waiting for it.

The moment the doors opened, Nolan caught Damian kissing Scarlett—and heard that teasing remark.

Nolan stood frozen, his whole body going rigid.

Beside him, Sean glanced back at Nolan instinctively when she saw the scene.

Scarlett noticed them too and greeted him softly. "Nolan."

Damian hadn't realized anyone was behind him, but at Scarlett's voice, he straightened up.
