"I'm sorry, Sabrina. I didn't mean for that to happen. I just... I love you so much. I lost control."
Sabrina didn't respond. She pulled away from him, straightened her clothes, yanked open the door, and ran out.
Daniel watched her go, but he couldn't bring himself to follow.
She'd kissed him first, but he knew—her mind had been on Vincent the whole time.
In the end, that kiss wasn't about him. It was about her feeling hurt by someone else.
The thought twisted in his chest. He pressed a hand to his heart, a sad, hollow smile tugging at his lips.
Sabrina burst out of the practice room, hurriedly smoothing her hair and adjusting her clothes. She ignored the receptionist's greeting and rushed straight out the front door.
Once outside, she walked along the empty street, but her mind was still replaying what had just happened with Daniel.
She had to admit—for a moment, she'd felt something.
She was human. She had needs. And Daniel? He was handsome, wealthy, and completely devoted to her.
If it weren't for the tiny piece of her heart that still belonged to Vincent, she might have let herself fall into Daniel's arms.
Even now, thinking back on it made her pulse quicken.
Her phone rang, cutting through her thoughts.
She fumbled for it, half expecting Daniel's name to appear on the screen. Instead, it was Vincent.
Her heart skipped.
She hesitated, then answered. "Vincent."
Her voice came out rough, strained.
"Are you home?" he asked.
"Yeah," she lied. "I'm home."
He seemed to relax at that.
Neither of them spoke for a moment.
Then, quietly, he said, "Earlier... I'm sorry."
She blinked, surprised by the apology. "Vincent, I don't blame you. I love you."
He listened to her say the words, but his response was flat. Just a quiet "Mm."
They didn't talk long. He told her to get some rest and hung up.
