Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 626

She didn't reply to his message. Instead, she dragged a small stool over to the window and sat down.

On the windowsill, she could still make out a few faint footprints—clearly left behind by Damian.

The thought of how slippery it must have been out there made her stomach tighten with worry again.

She picked up her phone and sent him another text, "Are you busy?"

A second later, her phone lit up with a video call request.

The ringtone startled her. After a brief hesitation, she answered.

As soon as the video connected, she could see a projection screen behind Damian—slides filled with year-end reports and project proposals. In the background, she could hear people talking.

He was definitely in a meeting.

Scarlett stayed quiet, just listening to the muffled voices on his end.

Damian didn't speak either. Instead, he typed in the chat box, "Babe, I'm in a meeting."

She typed back, "I know."

A smile tugged at his lips as he typed again, "Miss me?"

Scarlett didn't reply. She just shot him a glare through the screen.

At that moment, Damian was sitting at the head of a long conference table, his phone propped up against a coffee cup. His attention was completely on the screen—he wasn't listening to a word his team was saying.

And everyone in the room could see the smile on his face.

They exchanged glances, each wearing the same knowing expression.

Just then, a knock came from Scarlett's end. "Scarlett? You up? Breakfast is ready."

Hearing the call, she quickly whispered, "I need to go eat."

Damian didn't bother lowering his voice. "Babe, give me a kiss before you go."

His words hit her ear, and even though he wasn't in the room with her, her face flushed bright red.

Her chest tightened. The next second, she snapped, "Damian, do you have no shame?"

She hadn't exactly whispered, so everyone in the conference room caught the tail end of their exchange.

The meeting ground to a halt, but the people below were silently eating it up.

Not a word was spoken, but every pair of curious eyes was fixed on their boss and his very public flirtation.

Damian leaned back in his chair, twirling a pen between his fingers. He watched Scarlett's face gradually redden on the screen, a lazy smile playing on his lips.

Before he could say anything else, she ended the call.

The screen went dark. The line went dead. Damian showed no sign of embarrassment. He glanced around the table, then explained without missing a beat, "Women, right? A little dramatic sometimes. Totally normal."

He was selling it to himself, completely unaware that everyone in the room was mentally labeling him as completely wrapped around her finger.
