Vincent's voice was sharp and unyielding. "If this is about setting me up, save your breath."
Amanda bit back her irritation, forcing her tone to remain measured. "You can have your fun with whoever you want out there, but when it comes to settling down, you need to be practical. You were with someone like Scarlett before—that set a standard. You can't just end up with a woman who brings nothing to the table. A partnership should add value—that's what really matters."
Vincent's reply was frosty. "I'm not looking for a 'partnership'. I don't care about adding value."
Amanda paled, her composure slipping. "So you're deliberately defying me now? You're seriously planning to marry Sabrina?"
Vincent didn't answer. He just held his silence.
Sometimes silence spoke louder than words.
Amanda's temper flared. "If you're going to marry Sabrina, you might as well have stayed with Scarlett. At least she was... manageable."
Vincent didn't even glance her way. He brushed past Amanda and headed straight into the entrance of Ravenshade Villa.
Just as he stepped inside, Sabrina appeared from down the hall.
Seeing him return, she quickly approached to take his briefcase and help with his coat.
"You're back," she said softly.
Vincent accepted the coat, but instead of putting it on, he draped it gently over Sabrina's shoulders.
A faint, tired smile touched his lips. "Yeah, I'm home."
Then, naturally, he took her hand.
They were about to walk further into the house when Amanda stormed in behind them, her voice rising. "Vincent, how could you move this... this woman into our home?"
Vincent halted and turned slowly. "Mom," he said, his voice low but clear, "I'm going to marry her."
Amanda looked like she'd been struck. "Have you lost your mind?"
"My mind is made up."
"And what about your grandfather? Do you think he'll ever approve?"
Vincent let out a dry, humorless laugh. "Does it matter? He's the one who pushed me into marrying Scarlett in the first place. Look how well that turned out."
Amanda was momentarily speechless. "Vincent, you can't just—"
But Vincent had already stopped listening. He glanced at Sabrina, his tone softening. "Let's go inside."
Hand in hand, they moved toward the living room.
