Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 688

Scarlett noticed Damian had dozed off. She stayed still, not wanting to disturb him, and quietly let her own heavy emotions settle.

Not many knew how much she'd bled when Vanessa was born.

Maybe even Damian wasn't fully aware.

Sometime in the early hours, she must have drifted off herself. In a half-awake haze, she felt a touch tracing gently along her side.

A soft, flustered sound escaped her lips, and her thighs pressed together almost instinctively.

Then a hand brushed higher, along the inside of her leg.

She turned her head sharply—and relaxed the moment she saw it was Damian.

He lifted a brow, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Who were you thinking about just now?"

Scarlett didn't admit she'd been picturing Vincent. She just shook her head. "No one."

Damian wasn't fooled. He could guess.

But he didn't press her.

He'd caught every shift in her eyes—the flash of fear, then the tension draining away, replaced by quiet relief.

It told him she only felt safe once she knew it was him beside her.

When Scarlett tried to sit up, Damian took her hand and guided it to rest on his taut waist. His gaze softened. "Your body just reacted to me."

Scarlett's face flushed instantly. "You're terrible," she muttered, shooting him a look.

Damian's grin turned wicked. "You don't like it?"

She pulled her hand back and moved to get up, but Damian was quicker, rising onto his elbow beside her.

Once again, he leaned in and kissed her.

With Scarlett, Damian never tired of kissing. It never felt like enough.

Careful not to rest his weight on her legs, he kept himself propped beside her as his lips met hers, his hand slipping beneath her shirt just like the night before.

This time, Scarlett kissed him back. Her arms wound around his neck, returning the kiss with a warmth that surprised even her.

Feeling her response, Damian deepened the kiss slowly, deliberately.

Scarlett melted into the sheets, arms still around his neck. In a whisper close to his ear, she breathed, "Damian... let's try."

She didn't mean dating. She meant everything.

But before Damian could reply, the bedroom door swung open.
