Violet was growing increasingly irritated, and she made no effort to hide it. In fact, she held nothing back. "It's not as if they haven't shared a bed for just a night or two."

The words slipped out before Violet could stop them, and for a moment she regretted it. But after a brief pause, she decided there was nothing to take back.

Hearing her remark, Vincent's expression darkened instantly. He shoved Violet aside forcefully and moved to push his way into Theron Manor.

Just then, Nathan appeared seemingly out of nowhere, blocking Vincent's path. "Vincent, barging into someone's home is against the law."

Vincent wasn't in the mood to listen. "My wife is in bed with another man, and you're talking to me about legality? You think I care about that right now?"

Nathan didn't flinch and showed no interest in arguing further. Seizing the opportunity, Violet grabbed Vincent's arm. "Vincent, why don't you head home? You shouldn't keep Ms. Monroe waiting."

Together, Nathan and Violet managed to steer Vincent out through the gates of Theron Manor.

Once the gate clicked shut, Vincent didn't bother knocking again.

He stood outside the property, his anger boiling over.

Yet even amid his fury, he fought down his impulses and instead pulled out his phone to call Scarlett.

He told himself that if she would just answer, if she would agree to come back with him, he would let the matter with the Therons drop.

Upstairs in the bedroom, Scarlett lay flat on the bed. Damian hadn't joined her under the covers; he was resting on a makeshift pallet on the floor beside her.

Drowsiness was finally washing over her when the phone on the nightstand buzzed loudly.

Scarlett startled awake and instinctively reached for it.

As she did, Damian's hand moved at the same time. Her fingers ended up resting on top of his.

Embarrassed, she pulled her hand back. Damian let out a soft chuckle, then picked up the phone and handed it to her.

Scarlett took it and glanced at the screen. Seeing Vincent's name, she hesitated briefly before answering.

His voice was cold and threatening. "Are you asleep?"

Instead of replying, Scarlett asked, "What do you want?"

Vincent's tone turned even icier, getting straight to the point. "Are you sleeping with Damian?"

Scarlett almost laughed at the absurdity. "Vincent, I don't owe you an explanation."

When he was with Sabrina, he hadn't felt the need to explain himself either, had he?

Vincent's temper finally snapped. "Scarlett, do you have any idea what you're doing?"

Even though nothing had happened between her and Damian, Scarlett didn't feel like justifying herself. "I don't need you to tell me what I'm doing. I know perfectly well."
