Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 729

Hearing that, Damian's smile widened. Almost without thinking, he asked, "How much earlier?"

Felix replied, "Tomorrow."

Damian pressed further, "What time?"

"Ten-thirty."

Damian glanced toward the bedroom, where Scarlett was still sleeping soundly. His expression softened even more. "All right, we'll be there on time tomorrow."

After ending the call, he finished his cigarette before stepping back inside.

Scarlett was dreaming—a vivid, warm dream about Vincent. In it, his attitude had done a complete one-eighty. He was kind, attentive, and completely unresponsive to Sabrina's advances. Even Vanessa seemed to adore her. The three of them were living happily together, even strolling hand in hand through the grocery store.

"Scarlett... wake up. It's time to get up."

Someone was gently shaking her shoulder. Scarlett stirred, slowly blinking her eyes open.

Still half-asleep, she mumbled instinctively, "Vincent, stop..."

The next instant, a firm hand gripped her jaw.

Pain shot through her, pulling her fully awake. Damian was leaning over her, his eyes locked on hers.

"Who were you calling just now?" he asked, irritation sharpening his tone. "Vincent?"

Reality came rushing back, shattering the dream's warmth. For a moment, Scarlett just stared blankly before turning her face away. "No," she murmured. "It was a nightmare."

Damian hadn't meant to hurt her, but hearing Vincent's name from her lips stung more than he wanted to admit. Seeing her wince, he gradually released his grip.

Still, he couldn't let it go entirely. "A nightmare?" he asked, a touch of bitterness in his voice. "Looked more like a sweet dream to me."

Scarlett's reply was equally quiet, equally strained. "Dreaming about him could never be sweet."

Damian paused, then said tightly, "You were smiling, though. Looked pretty happy to me."

Scarlett kept her face averted. "Was I?"

"Yeah. You were."

She thought back to the dream—a scene she'd once desperately wished for. Now that it had visited her in sleep, it left only a hollow, strange feeling she couldn't quite name.

After a long silence, she finally turned to meet his gaze. "So what if I was? It was just a dream."

Damian's eyes narrowed. "You want it to be real, then?"
